Ella’s POV
“Let’s go.” Kevin said once everyone had shifted into their human form.
We nodded and waited for him to check the map so we could know the path we were to take from there to the Arok tree.
Suddenly, there was a loud roar and we all looked around, wondering what it was.
“I think it’s the cannibal father.” Damien sighed.
“He doesn’t seem like he is alone.” Liam noted. “It seems like he went for reinforcement.”
“We can’t stay here and wait to fight them when we don’t know how many they are. What if we get outnumbered?” Andre sighed.
“Let me see.” Kevin said, peering at the map. “There should be a way back here.”
Suddenly, the ground started moving and vibrating under our feet. It felt like hundreds of huge feet were moving on it and running towards us.
“Screw that.” Andre said in panic and ran off.
He wasn’t the only one who ran off. The ground was shifting so much under our feet that we were all at risk of sinking under and getting buried alive. Everyone ran to avoid death and it wasn’t until I had run far that I realized we had dispersed in different directions and I didn’t know where the others were.
“Kevin! Andre! Liam! Damien!” I shouted, looking around as I called for them.
“Ella,”
I gasped as I heard my name and ran to the spot I had heard it from. I didn’t find anyone though the voice I had heard sounded like Kevin’s.
I blinked, tears slowly forming in my eyes as I wondered if my mind was playing tricks on me.
“Kevin?” I called out again, hoping that I wasn’t hallucinating.
“Ella.” He called back, breaking out from the dense cluster of trees behind the clearing.
“Kevin.” I said, running to meet him.
We clashed in an embrace, wrapping our hands tightly around each other.
“I thought I lost you.” He cried, clinging on to me.
“Never.” I cried. “Not when you just found me again.”
“Not when I just found you again. I can’t lose you, not now, not ever.” He repeated, nuzzling his head in the crook of my neck. “Why do keep losing you? We have to stop this game?”
I could hear his despair clearly in his voice.
“You keep finding me back though.”
He nodded, pulling me back to stare into my eyes. “Yes, I keep finding you again because you are mine.”
“I’m yours.” I replied with a nod.
We stared at each other for minutes and then his gaze shifted to my lips. I didn’t blink and neither did I look away. I wanted this moment as much as he did. I wanted to feel the connection we had with each other.
I wanted the kiss. I wanted more and I could tell from his look that he felt the same way.
“Kiss me, Kevin.” I said when I noticed that he kept on looking at me and at my lips without making a move, despite the heat in his eyes and how possessively he held me in his arms.
I remembered his earlier words that he didn’t take females who didn’t want him and realized that he was waiting for my permission.
“Are you sure?” He blinked as he looked at me, his eyes filled with doubt and desire.
I knew what he was asking. There was no going back if he kissed me. He was going to claim me in every sense of it this time if I allowed him to and not because I was on heat and didn’t have a choice.
I was going to be his mate and he was going to be more possessive of him. I knew that and wanted him to kiss me still. There was no need to run or push him away, I had always been his.
“Sniff the air. Tell me what it tells you.”
His nostrils flared and his eyes widened as he stared at me in wonder. “You are wet.”
“For you, Kevin. Only for you.” I said, inching my lips closer to his and leaned upwards.
A growl tore from his throat as he closed the gap between us and crashed his lips down on mine, our mouths melting in a fusion of passion and wild desire, clinging desperately to each other.
