Ella’s POV
“You brought this upon us.” Andre hissed, finally breaking out.
I sighed and didn’t bother replying him. I knew he wasn’t one to hold on to grudge for long and had been wondering when he would finally burst out with his anger and lash out at me.
“Don’t be too hard on her. She was only trying to save a lost soul.” Liam sighed.
“And now we are going to lose ours.” Andre hissed.
“Actually, we are only going to lose our flesh.” Damien winked.
Andre glared at him, shifting his anger from me to him. “Do you think it is funny? Is this the right time to make jokes?”
“No, it’s not but the joke made you stop glaring at Ella. She feels bad already.” Damien replied. “You don’t have to make her feel worse.”
Andre blushed and looked away.
“I actually feel like shit.” I whispered, turning to Andre. “I’m sorry if that makes you feel better.”
“It doesn’t make me feel better but it’s a start.” He replied. “I don’t think I can feel better until I leave this hell hole.”
“We all have to calm down.” Kevin said, finally speaking up. He had been quiet all along. “Those cannibals don’t know what we are and what they are dealing with. We just have to find a way to get them to get us all out of this hole so we can fight them all at once.”
“Those huge people.” Damien swallowed.
“I know we can fight them. We are five and they are two and half.” Kevin taunted.
“I will deal with the half.” I said, hissing. I will break her little neck she would regret the day she joined her parents in hunting and eating poor innocent jungle travelers.
I would make her regret the day she was born.
Kevin looked at me and smiled. “I knew you would want her. The rest of us will deal with the parents.”
“Call on me if she seems powerful than she looks.” Andre said. “I have a grudge against her as well.”
I smiled at him and he smiled back. Just like that, our grudge was buried.
“They don’t seem afraid enough.”
We all looked up when we heard the voice above us. They were back. We glanced at one another, our hearts beating fast as we knew it was time for showdown.
“Get the lady. The men would be afraid.” Creka whined.
“We won’t be afraid.” Kevin shouted. “We only followed her because we don’t want to leave a colleague alone to wander off in the jungle. It wasn’t like we cared about her. Kill me and you will see them ramble in fear. I’m the leader.” He said and looked at Liam.
Liam took the cue and raised his voice. “I’m the general. Take me and they will murmur in fear.”
Andre shouted after Liam was done and then Damien. We all shouted at the same time that they should pick us and leave the others.
“Shut it!” Creka’s father shouted in anger and rubbing at his forehead.
I smiled at the sight. It was amusing to know that a cannibal could have a headache.
“They are troublesome. Get everyone out.” He growled. “They all die tonight.”
We held our breaths as Creka’s mum reached out and pulled us out one after the other. When we were all safe and steady on the ground, we shifted into wolves shocking them.
“Werewolves?” Creka squeaked.
The shock didn’t last long though as they charged at us, growling loudly with spittles foaming at their mouths as they promised to give us a painful death.
I noticed that they only had huge bodies and long limbs which they had trained to their advantage. Asides that, they had fast reflexes. They were not as strong as we were though.
I watched as Kevin and Liam went after the father while Andre and Damien charged after the mother. I grinned as I locked eyes with the daughter who was already inching back.
“You don’t want to kill a child, do you?” She cried.
I snorted. As if that would work on me again. I would be a fool to fall for her fake innocence once more and that was the last thing I was. I was in wolf form and couldn’t reply her and even if I could, I wouldn’t have replied her.
She tried to run and I pranced after her, going down on all four. She screamed as I jumped and landed right in front of her. Her eyes went wide as I moved towards her, my blue fur shimmering in the moonlight.
Before she could turn and run to where her parents were to save her, I reached out and pulled her down with my claws, clamping hard on her skin with my teeth and bit down hard.
She cried out in pain as I sank my teeth into her legs, thrashing against my hold and making her injury worse. I raised my head up from her leg to see her parents glancing in her direction and running towards her.
My jaws split into a grin as I slit her throat open with my claws. I watched in satisfaction as she gurgled and took her last breath, her eyes becoming glassy in death as they opened and stared without seeing anything. I could feel Lucy’s pleasure streaming through my veins.
“No!” Her mother screamed and fell to her knees at the corpse of their daughter.
The father went down beside her, trying to comfort and get her up.
She raised her head up and glared at me, her eyes red and mad with grief. “Why did you kill my daughter?”
I shifted into my human form and scowled at her. “She paid for her sins with her life. She shouldn’t have played on my good heart.”
“I’m going to pluck that heart out from you and bury it with my daughter’s corpse.” She growled, pushing her husband aside and charged at me.
I shifted quickly into my wolf form to fight her off but Kevin beat me to it. He was still in wolf form and jumped in the air after the mother, slashing her neck with his claws.
She fell to the ground, clutching her hand to her bleeding neck and coughing out blood. “Creka.” She sighed, looking at her daughter and a tear slid down her eyes as she closed them and took her final breath.
The father gasped, breathing hard at the sight of the corpses of his daughter and wife. He winced as he looked around at us, realizing that he ran outnumbered and ran away.
I grinned as I shifted back into human form, grateful that we were out of the mess that I had gotten us into.
