Kevin’s POV
In the evening, my father and I had some wine with dinner and chatted for a long time.
My father was pleased. With George’s matter resolved, the Blood Moon Pack’s years-long civil war was nearing its end. He hoped I could bring Ella back, and I promised him I would do my utmost.
“Alpha, our werewolves found a Rogue group at an abandoned factory 3 kilometers away,” Liam entered my study, his face unusually serious.
“Any other information?” I closed the map.
“Yes, Alpha. According to intelligence, these Rogues are not ordinary. At least, they are of leadership level.”
“Why do you say so?”
“From our last prisoners, we released a black wolf and installed a bug on it. Through the bug, I heard the black wolves referring to one of them as ‘my lord.'”
I raised an eyebrow and licked my fangs.
After searching for 5 years, I finally dug up useful information about the Rogue leader, which excited me greatly.
“Very well, inform the werewolves to prepare. We’ll take them down tonight.”
“Yes, Alpha!”
Ella’s POV
In the past two days back at the clinic, I cleaned up the entire place, gathering all of Camila’s scattered bottles into a sack to give to the scavenging werewolves.
At night, by the fire, Camila was mending the tears in my work clothes while I added wood to the fire, lost in thought.
“Anna, how does it feel working at Luna Manor?” Camila asked.
I nodded, “It’s interesting. Everyone is friendly, and I’ve made new friends.”
“That’s good,” Camila nodded, she squinted her eyes and threaded the thread into the needle hole, “I heard Kevin also went to the Alpha camp. Have things improved between you two? I can see he’s your mate; he really likes you.”
“We…” I sighed, feeling down. “Kevin returned to the Blood Moon Pack. He got into a fight because of me and Luke, got injured, and then was kicked out of the Pack by Alpha Oscar and Luna.”
“Oh.”Camila put down her needlework, comfortingly rubbed my head, “It’s okay, my granddaughter. Two young male wolves fighting over a female is normal. You don’t have to feel guilty.”
“Grandma,” I protested shyly.
Camila winked mischievously.
“So, my sweetheart, were you so distracted these past two days because you missed Kevin?”
“I… I don’t know,” I lifted my head to the starry sky. The night’s tranquility eased my inner turmoil. “I don’t know if my choice was right. The day Kevin left, he asked if I wanted to leave with him. I refused him then, but when I saw the disappointment in his eyes, I felt sad. I think… I might still love him.”
“Good, my granddaughter. At least you’ve bravely taken this step, facing your heart. You know, Anna, whatever path you choose in the future, I will always support you.”
Camila laughed, the crow’s feet beneath her brown eyes crinkling together. Just as I paused with the match in hand, Camila took hold of my hands and spoke slowly.
“Anna, I’ve been confused by a problem recently…”
“Yes, what problem?”
“Are you, like Kevin, from the Blood Moon Pack?”
I was stunned for a moment.
“I’ve always known that my granddaughter died a long time ago. Your presence saved me. You are kind and filial, a beautiful she-wolf. Actually, after these 5 years together, I’ve come to see you as my true granddaughter. I don’t care about your lineage. If one day you wish to return to your homeland, I will sincerely support you. I hope you find happiness.”
Tears welled up in my eyes, and I hugged her gratefully. “Thank you, Camila Grandma, I-I didn’t realize you knew everything.”
She chuckled and kissed my forehead. “Sweetheart, you deserve nothing but the best.”
As we ended the embrace, I decided to come clean.
“Yes, I am from the Blood Moon Pack. My real name is Ella Moore.”
“Ella Moore, what a beautiful name. But, Ella, have you noticed something?”
“What?” I asked, puzzled.
“Your fur is blue.”
“Y-yes.”
My fur was blue. I had noticed it since my mother trained me to shift for the first time. It was different from the fur of the wolves in the Blood Moon Pack. But she had never emphasized this issue, as if it were normal, and I had never thought much of it.
“So, what’s the problem?” I added.
“Ella, I’ve been thinking about this recently. Perhaps you’re not solely a she-wolf from the Blood Moon Pack.”
I paused, “Wait, but my mother is indeed from the Blood Moon Pack. I grew up with her since childhood. I’m definitely her daughter.”
I hurriedly explained, unable to entertain the possibility that I wasn’t my mother’s daughter.
“Don’t worry, Ella, I understand,” Camila smiled, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear. “What I mean is, perhaps you have the blood of the Blue Moon Pack’s werewolves in you. You see, the Blood Moon Pack’s wolves usually have brown fur, while the Blue Moon Pack’s wolves have blue fur.”
“I have the blood of the Blue Moon Pack’s werewolves?” I was astonished.
Immediately, thoughts of the father I had never met crossed my mind.
