Ella’s POV
Today is Friday, and I’m responsible for collecting spare herbs in the herb garden. There’s a greenhouse in the herb garden, where the herbs grow densely and in various types. I’m immersed in the world of herbs, almost forgetting everything around me.
“Omega, congratulations on receiving the new pharmacist badge. Since you love herbs so much, how about I give you a yard?”
A familiar male voice comes from behind me, and I don’t need to guess; I know it’s Luke.
He strides arrogantly towards me, picks up my bamboo basket, and stares provocatively at me. I impatiently look at him, noticing the marks left on his handsome face from Kevin’s beating.
“Anna, don’t you have anything to say?” Luke’s tone is low and filled with anger. “That male wolf is from the Blood Moon Pack, right? How did you meet him?”
I step back two paces, not directly facing his question. Honestly, I’m afraid he knows Kevin’s identity. It would easily expose me as Ella Moore of the Blood Moon Pack, not the real Anna Edwards. If my identity is revealed, I’ll have to leave the Blue River Pack.
“Luke, I warned you that I have a mate. Regarding that day, I’m sorry.” My words contradict my thoughts; I believe he brought the beating upon himself.
“Sorry?” He grabs my wrist, his golden eyes fierce. “Look at the injuries on my face, Anna. No one has ever dared to treat me like this.”
Alarm rises within me as I realize there’s no one else in the garden but Luke and me. Given his arrogant nature, it’s hard for me not to think he might take revenge.
“Luke, it was you who forced me first. My mate only hit you in retaliation, so we’re even.”
“Even?” He tightens his grip on my wrist, his eyes filled with a crazed desire for revenge. Then he roughly pushes aside the strands of hair on my neck. “If I mark you too, erase the scent of that male wolf, would he be enraged?”
I glare at him, this lunatic!
However, Luke soon stops his action, pinching the necklace around my neck. “What’s this?”
“A moon necklace?” He ponders for a moment, then looks at my face with interest.
“Huh, Omega, I must say, your methods of seducing men are quite skillful. You always appear innocent, but who would have thought…”
“Luke, let go of your hand.” A gentle male voice interrupts Luke, and a strong force pushes him back a few steps. A tall figure stands in front of me.
I raise my head in astonishment; it’s Henry.
How could he be here?
Luke is very displeased, striding over and punching Henry’s face hard. Henry couldn’t dodge in time, and his left cheek turns red.
“Henry!” I support Henry and scold Luke, “Are you insane?”
Luke sneers, staring at Henry. “Bro, I underestimated you. You dare to pursue the female wolf I’m interested in. But it’s a pity; this female wolf has already been marked by another male.”
Henry just silently stares at Luke, emanating a fierce aura. I’m stunned; I never expected him, usually so gentle, to openly oppose Luke for me.
“Luke, if you’re angry, you can take it out on me. Don’t bother Anna anymore, or I won’t be polite to you.” Henry says.
“Very well, Hybrid. Since you’re the one meddling, I’ll see how impolite you can be to me.”
Luke grabbed my shoulder from behind Henry, pulling me out, but Henry blocked him. Just as I was surprised, Henry’s fist fiercely struck Luke’s face, knocking it sideways, and Luke spat out blood.
Luke obviously didn’t expect Henry to really dare to hit him. Veins popped on his forehead as he gritted his teeth. “Damn it, Henry, I’ll beat you until your own mother won’t recognize you!”
Henry didn’t flinch.
“Wait, Luke, Henry, please stop!” I exclaimed in panic. This is Luna Manor. If other Blue River werewolves see the Alpha’s two sons arguing over me, I’ll be all over the gossip headlines tomorrow, sparking endless discussions.
I don’t want trouble.
I quickly ran between them, separating the two brothers, trying to appease them. “Luke, you’re the future Alpha. You’re magnanimous. Henry didn’t mean it, please forgive him.”
Luke snorted provocatively, looking at me. “Then I’ll give you a choice, Anna. Me or Henry?”
“Anna, you don’t need to engage with him,” Henry interrupted. “Leave here now.”
I understand Henry’s and Mrs. Hailey’s situation in the Blue River Pack. As a human and a werewolf hybrid, he’s the lowest-ranked among Alpha’s three sons. If he really fights with Luke, Luna Mrs. Willow will surely punish Henry for her own son’s sake. I gritted my teeth, signaling him to back down, but Henry acted as if he didn’t notice.
My mind is in chaos. I always thought Henry was a reasonable man, but now he’s so stubborn.
Luke seems to have found some new amusement, staring at me and then at Henry again. “Hmm, Hybrid Henry, does this female wolf really matter so much to you?”
“I’ve always thought you were a cowardly Hybrid, indifferent to everything. But now I realize, you’ve only hidden what you care about. My good brother, this truly surprises me.”
I have a bad feeling as Luke always eyes the necklace Henry gave me with ill intentions. I just realized the necklace Henry gave me definitely wasn’t an ordinary gift from a friend.
“Luke, my mother took away half of father’s love for your mother. I feel guilty about it. You can bully me, but I won’t tolerate you hurting Anna recklessly,” Henry said, then looked apologetically at me. “Anna, I’ve always known my brother targeted you because you helped me at the hunting ground.”
I shook my head quickly. “Henry, it’s not your fault.”
“Ridiculous. Hearing you say that makes me out to be a despicable tyrant,” Luke smirked, a hint of hatred flashing in his eyes, as if Henry mentioning their mothers hit a nerve.
His muscles bulged as he attacked Henry. Henry pushed me away, his bones stretching as he transformed into a huge blue wolf. Luke also transformed into a huge blue wolf. Under my astonishment, the two wolves started attacking each other.
“Stop, Henry, Luke!”
The two wolves ignored me, their limbs moving rapidly, attacking each other fiercely and swiftly. I panicked, looking around for help.
