My body felt empty and cold as Ashley distanced herself away from me, my heart rumbled as I glanced at Liam. Why does he have to come inside right now? Does he have to interrupt the moment that I planned to have with my mate?
“Fuck…” Ethan cursed when hurling daggers at him.
“Hmm…..” I chuckled at his grumpiness.
“Come on….. He is our beta,” I teased.
“And so….” He purrs.
“Hmmm…… Good evening,” I was snapped back by Ashley’s words.
“Hmmm…..” Liam nodded at her. Fiddling with her nails, she kept staring at us nervously from Liam to me. I noticed how uncomfortable she seemed, especially with the way Liam kept throwing her glances.
“You can go…… I will call you later,”
“Thanks,” she hurried out of the room without a second thought.
“Why did you tell Mate to go?” Ethan glared.
“Don’t you see how uncomfortable she seemed with Liam here?” I clapped back
“Mate shouldn’t have gone! Liam was supposed to be the one sent out of the room,” he states.
“What the…….
” Liam is our beta, remember,”
“And Ashley is our MATE!!” He stressed the last word.
“Yeah! Yeah! I know…… you don’t need to scream out my head before I can hear you,”
“Hmmm…..” Liam chuckled, gaining my attention.
“You see……. He is always interrupting,” Ethan complains.
“Stop it, Ethan…… He came for a reason,” I warned.
“Hmmm…….. Like what,” he paused for a while before turning toward me.
“Like what……..” I raised my brow with a feigned expression like I didn’t know what he was trying to say.
“Hahaha…..” He let out a confused laugh. “Come on, bro…….”
Waving with his hands, he uttered, “Don’t pretend that you don’t know what I am saying,”
“And what are you saying,”
“Like seriously….” He was dazed as shock flickered in his eyes.
“Why did you even come here?” I sound irritated, ignoring his question. I am damn tired of how they view Ashley. She is my damn mate! The way they all act like they have a say in my life still baffles me.
“I came here for a reason, ”
“Then get straight to it,” I said before walking towards my bed. Sitting down I gesture for him to speak up.
“That will be but what I still don’t…….
” Go straight to the point Liam, why are you here?” I shut him off before he could even say a word.
“Am I no longer allowed in here?” His brow deepened in confusion.
*Mtcheew….” I let out a frustrated sigh. “I didn’t mean that way Liam, don’t misunderstand me,” raising my hands I pleaded.
“What did you just do?” He was aghast.
“What…” I glared irritated.
“You just apologize!”
“You Ryan just apologized!”
“What are you trying to say that I don’t use to apologize and besides I didn’t say sorry?”
“Wow! You don’t……. Despite not saying the word but you still showed a sign that you are apologetic,” he teased.
However, after hours of silence between us, I sighed before plopping on my bed, “Just stop it, already it is now irritating….”
“Really….” He mocked with a taunting smile.
“Shut up, he is telling the truth,” Ethan laughed.
“You too!” I glared
“I thought you were about to slash his head some hours ago,” he slurs.
“Then not now,” he stuck out his tongue at me.
“Whatever! Silly Lycan,” I taunt.
Strutting toward me, Liam sat down with his face exacerbated in earnestness and frown. His sudden change of mood had me concerned. He looked troubled and at the same time disturbed, it seems like something is bothering him. But before I could open my mouth, he beat me to it.
“What is your relationship with that little omega?”
My face darkened over the use of his word, my mate is not little, man! She might look fragile and thinner but I have this feeling that there is more to her that is hidden. That I don’t know but my mind tells me that there is more about her that I don’t know, the suppression of her wolf and masking of her scent.
Ethan gets annoyed by his words but I calmed him down before he could say a word.
“Mind your language, Liam,” I half yelled.
“Really……. But how?” He gazed at me but my expression remained unfazed.
“Ashley is not little,” I growled.
“Ooh! About that,” he seemed surprised at my outburst.
“I didn’t mean it that way,” he mumbled, “But what was she doing here and please don’t tell me that it is nothing because what I saw the moment I walked in here was enough to assume that something is going on between you two…..”
“Is that why you kept defending her?”
“Stop exaggerating things, me defending her is because she is innocent and fragile……. She doesn’t have a wolf and that shows that she needs our protection,” I declared.
“Wow!” He grunted.
“But you two almost kissed assuming I didn’t walk in on you people,” he blurted with a flared eyebrow.
“But why are you here?”
“It seems like someone isn’t happy that I interrupted his little moment,” he poked fun at me with a teasing smile.
“I asked you a question, Liam,” I coldly snapped.
“Hey! Hey! Calm down fire boy, you were all over the moon when I walked inside here,” he said with a smug across his face. I glared at him, I so much wanted to wipe that stupid smugness off his face.
“Whatever!” I exclaimed.
“But…….” His voice turned serious. I narrowed my eyes on him, I still wonder how he was able to swing moods within a minute.
“Yes!”
“Do you know anything concerning that girl?” He questioned before fixing his attention on me.
I went quiet suddenly as I glazed in thought on what he just asked. Shaking my head, I shrugged with a nonchalant expression “No………”
“No!” He repeats.
“And you are almost getting intimate with her!!”
“Come on, bro….. It doesn’t make sense,” he said.
He won’t understand, I know I don’t know much about her but it seems to me that I have known her for a long time with this little moment that I have spent with her. I might not know where she came from but she is my mate! And I believe that nothing evil can come from her, she is too innocent to even hurt a fly.
“Look, Liam, Ashley can’t even hurt a fly so don’t worry,” I assured.
“Look I understand what you are saying but you can never tell……” he said.
“Trust me, I know what I am doing,”
“I am worried about you, Ryan,”
“I understand but nothing is happening,” I assured him.
“Where did she come from?” He asked, ignoring what I was saying.
“She is a rogue,” I mumbled.
“Do you know any of her family?”
“She doesn’t have any,”
“Sad but what about relatives?” He questioned.
“I don’t have any idea,” I shrugged.
“Not even one,”
“None and besides I don’t think that she has any relatives,” I said.
“Really! You knew nothing about her, Ryan and if anything happens to you, no one will know anything about her way out,” he reasoned.
“Where did you two meet?”
“I saved her from a rogue attack and brought her in here since she has nowhere to stay,” I said. I just gave him the basis and not the full details. I don’t want anyone to know about us so soon.
“Just like that and you are already falling for her?” He gaped at me.
“You won’t understand, Liam,” I whispered.
“Then make me understand,” he snapped when running his hand all over his hair.
“Why are you here, Liam?”
“Just stop it, Ryan……… you know that the queen mother won’t support this and you know who your mother is if she opposes something?”
“Just answer my damn question! Why are you here?”
“She has no place in your heart, Ryan…… She is an omega and besides, she doesn’t have any wolf,” he tackled.
“Don’t you dare!!!” I madly growled at him, startling him.
“What……. What are you doing?” He staggered back
“Why are you so possessive of her?” He seemed frightened.
“Because she is…….” Tearing my eyes away from him, I run my hands over my hair before releasing a frustrated growl.
“I hope you have an idea what you are getting yourself into,” he muttered.
“Why are you here?” I coldly glared.
“Well…..” Swallowing hard, he muttered, “I came because of the mystery girl,”
“Go and come back next time, I don’t think that I am in the mood for that now,” I gestured for him to leave with my back on him.
“Fine!” He mumbled before striding towards the door.
“I pray you know what you are doing,” with that he pulled the door and walked away.
