Juliana’s pov:
This place is fascinating and cozy but so bad I couldn’t say the same for myself, this place is hell for me! I am in the deepest part of hell with no one to rescue me. Margaret is always at my neck, sometimes I feel like choking. I am always at their bay and call. Eating is not an option here, but they always ensure that I work myself to death.
I haven’t seen Ryan for weeks now and I am more than grateful for that, though part of me still craves him. His warm touch on me and the peaceful sensation that he always brings to me whenever he is around me. I craved to be in his arms, I wanted him all over me.
“Snap out of it, Juliana, he can never be yours,” I yelled at myself.
I know that whatever I feel for him is nothing but lust, I am just lusting over him, nothing much but come to think of it, who wouldn’t want him with those his physique and height? My throat tastes bitter as the idea of other women gawking at him blurred my vision.
“Come on! Juliana, they can lust on him for all they care. He is nobody special to you, he is just a king and has nothing to do with you. I mean he has absolutely nothing to do with you,” I murmured trying to convince myself that he is no good for me.
He is a king, he is not favorable to me. His presence around me will bring in a lot of problems for me, I have to avoid him by all means though my heart yarns for him. Gosh! I need to put myself together and focus, he is not good for me especially if he finds out my real identity which means I am screwed and dead forever. Veering around I bumped into one of the maids.
“Hey! Watch where you are going,” she yelled. “I am sorry…..” With my head lowered, I barely mumbled.
“Sorry for yourself,” she snarled before walking out of the kitchen with her minors.
“Is ok…… that’s how she behaves, just don’t mind her and continue what you are doing,” another young girl in the kitchen beside the washing basin, muttered.
“I think I am at fault here, for bumping into her,” I murmured but she heard me.
“I am sure it was unintentional and besides no one is above mistakes,” she finished with a genuine smile. She seems nice but I won’t fall for that because the last time I tried making friends it didn’t end pleasantly. They will all seem nice at the early stage but once they come to know the real me they will all abuse and foul-mouth me…… I am damn tired of trying to fit in or having my loved ones, the ones dear to me bad mouth and treat me like I am a plague.
“Hey! I have been calling for attention for a while now,” she said, snapping me out of my dazed state.
“Hmm…..” I grunted.
“What’s wrong? What were you thinking?” she asked
“Hmm, nothing…. yeah nothing,” I mumbled nervously.
“Come on, you don’t have to think too much about that pompous idiot,” she slurs.
“I am not thinking about her,” I said. “You don’t have to lie, dear….. I know the feeling but it’s okay, I got you,” she smiled before focusing back on what she was doing.
I hope I was thinking of that girl, thinking of her is my least thing to do. I have a bigger problem that weighed me down and not that girl, I don’t even know her face. I just know that she is a maid based on the uniform that she was putting on. I think that we were the only people that were now left in the kitchen, we need to tidy up the whole place before returning to where we do sleep. I don’t think there will be any food for me since Margaret has gone to bed.
“I don’t even know her face, so I don’t think there was any need to think of her,” I shrugged before packing the dirt plates inside the sink.
“Hey! I know how she looks…… she looks terrible, awful, and ugly,” she makes a poker face when trying to describe her. “Haha…..” No longer trying to suppress my laugh, I let it out.
“You are funny, you know that,” I muttered. “Thanks,” she smiled again.
A little silence sneaked in, as we all focused on why we were in there. Cleaning, washing, and keeping everything in place. Once we were done, I lugged for the door but she stopped me before I could pull the door open.
“Hey! ” I turned.
“By the way my name is Aria….” She stretches out her right hand for a shake. “I am Julia…… sorry, Ashley,” I stammered with a nervous smile.
“You act like you don’t know your name,” she uttered before taking my hands for a handshake. She finds it funny, and I think so with the way she reacted.
“Sorry, I wasn’t thinking straight,” I mumbled.
“Hey! Is nothing,” she waved it out.
She seems nice but as I said earlier I am tired of making friends. It will not end well, I am a curse……. I was cursed by the moon goddess and either I bring problems to her or she will later join the crew and seek my death. We stood there not knowing what exactly to say to each other.
“Hmmm…..” I scratched my neck.
“I think I need to go,” I said.
“Yeah, we need to go,” she mumbled before we strode out of the place. We continued walking sideways without saying a word to each other, almost to my room. She stopped at her track earning an arched brow from me.
“I need to go get my dinner,” she said. I nodded at her.
“Do you care for some?” She asked.
“No! I am good,” I prevaricate, I pray my stomach doesn’t implicate me with the gurgling sounds.
“Are you sure about that?” She doubted.
“Yeah, I am damn good,” I said with a forced smile.
“Okay then,” she shrugged.
“I think I need to go,” I quietly mumbled.
“See you around, Julia…… Ashley,” she laughed before she turned around and walked away.
I wish I am just like her, that I have something to eat for the night. I only had my breakfast and since then I haven’t eaten. I am damn hungry but I have nothing to dine, going to wake Margaret up will never end well. She will have my head bitten off within a minute, this is not the first time that I am going to bed on an empty stomach. So the only thing to do right now is to go back inside that small penitentiary that I called room and sleep.
