“You go if you want. I’m too embarrassed.”
Mr. Chow had been so troubled by this matter that he couldn’t sleep or eat well for days.
Though he scolded and reprimanded his son, how could he not care for his only child?
The problem was that the mess Johnny created was too big. Mr. Chow wanted to help but couldn’t find a way.
After starting the car, Mr. Chow said gravely, “Let’s wait for the paternity test results first. We can only hope the child isn’t Johnny’s! If it isn’t, I’ll go to the Wales family then.”
If it was, he absolutely wouldn’t have the face to go.
…
When Ulric called Johnny, Johnny was completely drunk.
Seeing it was Ulric calling, he answered unsteadily.
“Ulric…”
“You drunk?”
Ulric’s voice was always cool and stern when speaking to others.
“I’ve been drinking! No one’s controlling me now, so I can drink as much as I want! Ulric, I’m single now! Haha… single!”
“I know you two broke up.”
“Did Rosalind tell you?”
“No.”
Johnny laughed self-mockingly and simply lay down on the floor with his bottle. “It doesn’t matter who told you. The point is I’m single now! Ulric, I used to want to be single, to fool around, to avoid responsibility. Now I want to settle down and be responsible for one woman, but… it’s all come to nothing.”
Ulric frowned deeply on the other end.
He didn’t like talking to drunks. If it weren’t important, he would have hung up.
“Sober up. I have something to tell you.”
“What is it? Is it work-related?” Johnny took another swig and wiped his mouth. “Mr. Walters, no work today. My woman broke up with me. I’m taking time off!”
“It’s about Tilda. Do you want to hear it?”
Tilda?
The word was Johnny’s weakness.
His hand holding the bottle paused for a moment. “You have news about Tilda?”
“Rosalind returned to the country today. Tilda went to pick her up.”
“Tsk, you’re still the same, remaining loyal to Rosalind! If only I could be like you.”
Then there wouldn’t be so many problems.
Ulric grew impatient and said directly, “I had someone follow their car, fearing my mother might do something to them.”
“Oh, and then?”
“That’s how I guessed you two broke up because Tilda was crying at the airport.”
“You’re perceptive.”
Ulric continued, “Then my man sent me a video clip. You should watch it carefully.”
With that, he hung up.
Soon after, Johnny received a secretly recorded video.
It showed Rosalind and Tilda just arriving at the apartment.
Johnny slapped his face hard to sober up a bit before opening the video.
First, he heard Rosalind’s voice.
“Tilda, let me transfer the rent money to you!”
“Don’t be so polite, or I’ll be angry!”
Johnny watched the three-minute video with a frown, ending when they went upstairs.
He still didn’t understand what Ulric wanted him to see.
Wasn’t it just their casual conversation?
Johnny went to the bathroom, washed his face with cold water, and sent Ulric a voice message.
“What do you mean? I don’t understand.”
Soon, Ulric replied, “Listen carefully to the part where Tilda helps Rosalind carry her luggage.”
“Huh?”
Johnny opened it again and listened carefully.
Something about being careful, something about not planning to keep it-what was it?
Suddenly-
Johnny seemed to realize something.
He hurriedly opened it, his hands shaking as he adjusted the progress bar to Tilda’s line.
She said, “What’s there to worry about? I don’t plan to keep it anyway.”
