Chapter 1022: Confronting Holly

The winter day broke slowly. Callie, unable to stay awake, fell asleep and woke up to find herself in the master bedroom, a place filled with countless memories of their life together.
She frowned, got up, and opened the door. Nelson was standing outside, freshly showered but looking tired as if he hadn’t slept. They exchanged a polite but distant glance, unsure of what to say.
“I…”
Nelson nodded, “I’ll take you there now.”
Holly was kept in a very secretive place. After driving through numerous winding roads, they arrived at a dilapidated old neighborhood with guards stationed around.
Callie asked, “Is Cyrus also kept here?”
Nelson did not answer. He moved through the dark shadows, walked down the corridor to the end, and had the bodyguard open the door.
Holly had been confined for a long time and was in poor mental condition. Hearing the door open, she immediately caused a commotion, “Let me out! Nelson! Let me out!”
She was tied to a chair, her wrists and ankles bound, with dried bloodstains everywhere. Callie instantly recognized this as the same situation she had been in before, now replicated on Holly by Nelson.
Holly’s hair was disheveled, and her eyes were sunken, far from her previous glamorous self. Her crazed eyes became even more frantic upon seeing Callie, and she lunged forward, “You bitch!”
Callie took a step back while Nelson stepped forward to block her, their movements perfectly synchronized.
He said, “Speak at the door; she might hurt someone.”
Callie and Holly locked eyes. After a moment of thought, Callie said, “Forget it. Have someone guard the door; I’ll go in and talk.”
Nelson frowned, showing concern, but Callie brushed past his arm and walked straight in.
Fortunately, there was nothing inside that could be used as a weapon. Callie stood face-to-face with Holly, whose eyes were filled with complex emotions and jealousy.
Holly gritted her teeth, “The bald man didn’t kill you.”
“Almost,” Callie quickly replied. “You almost made it.”
“I don’t understand why I lost. I have everything you have and more. I could be a good wife and daughter! But you can’t!”
“Precisely because you’re too perfect. You did a great job, and Jaquan trained you well. For a long time, even I didn’t suspect your identity.”
Holly’s face showed signs of deformation for not having plastic surgeries to repair it.
“You lost because you were too meticulous. You fooled everyone in the world, but I am the real Maevelyn. How could you possibly fool me?”
Callie leaned in slightly. “You even tattooed an identical birthmark on your back. Unfortunately for you, I saw it.”
Holly seemed to have an epiphany. She remembered, “You knew all along. You knew from the very beginning and planned this for so long.”
Callie did not deny it. “Yes, I watched you act like a clown all this time.”
“Why didn’t you expose me from the start?”
“Because I wanted to see how far you would go. While collecting evidence, I also wanted to see what others would do.”
Among these “others,” the most crucial one was Nelson. Yet every step he took was beyond her expectations.
That was the greatest hurt.
“You endured until my wedding day with Nelson just to let everyone see that I was a fake.” Holly repeated incredulously, her face twisted in disbelief at Callie’s ruthless tactics.
“Yes,” Callie admitted smoothly. “I am very grateful to you for giving me such an opportunity.”
