Chris turned to Lightning and said, “Go investigate where these vampires are coming from on the East Coast.”
“Yes, sir!” Lightning nodded and immediately set off to gather information.
Chris let out a cold snort. He would never allow anyone to disrupt the peace of the East Coast.
It didn’t take long before Lightning came back with some clues.
“Mr. Shelby, based on my investigation, these people are coming from Mercerland.”
“Mercerland?” Chris frowned upon hearing this.
Mercerland was an ancient and vast empire, home to the Blood Clan’s stronghold.
In the past, Chris might have feared the Blood Clan. But now, his strength was no longer what it used to be. He believed there were very few in the world who could pose a threat to him.
Still, Chris couldn’t quite figure out why the Blood Clan members would come here.
Without dwelling on it further, he ordered Lightning to clean up the vampires’ bodies before heading back to his villa.
Once home, Chris called Lynx, asking her to investigate the vampire situation.
Since Chris had returned to Earth, Lynx, Phoenix, and others had also gradually followed him back to this world.
Just then, Chris’s phone rang.
“Mr. Shelby, it’s me, Lightning. I’ve found an important lead. Please come to the East Coast precinct immediately.”
“Got it, I’m on my way.”
Hanging up, Chris wasted no time and headed straight to the East Coast precinct.
—
At the same time, the East Coast precinct was on high alert.
All officers had been ordered to stay on duty, with no one allowed to leave.
After Chris killed over a dozen vampires earlier that day, Lightning realized the gravity of the situation. He knew the other side wouldn’t just let this go-they would retaliate.
To prepare for this, Lightning had every officer remain in the precinct.
Suddenly, the shrill sound of alarms echoed through the building.
The alarms only went off in emergencies.
Hearing the sound, Lightning’s face darkened. Without hesitation, he drew a firearm from his waist.
—
Moments later, several figures burst into the precinct.
“Who are you?” one officer shouted.
The intruders responded with eerie laughter before lunging at the officers.
The officers quickly pulled out their firearms, but before they could fire, the intruders were upon them.
“Ah!”
A vampire sank its teeth into an officer’s neck. The officer let out a bloodcurdling scream before collapsing to the ground, drained of blood.
The vampire licked the blood from its lips, its face alight with excitement. The officer’s lifeless body was now nothing more than a shriveled husk.
These intruders were vampires.
Screams filled the precinct as one officer after another fell victim to the vampires.
The officers stood no chance. Their firearms were useless against these creatures.
—
A loud bang echoed as the door to the precinct chief’s office was kicked open.
Several vampires stormed inside, causing Lightning to cry out in alarm.
Without hesitation, Lightning turned and fled.
As he ran, a cruel smile crept across the vampires’ faces. They wasted no time in chasing after him.
Lightning knew they were targeting him. Earlier that day, Chris had killed over a dozen vampires. The Blood Clan must have assumed he was the one responsible.
Though he was the precinct chief and had dealt with countless criminals, these vampires were not ordinary people. They were creatures of the dark, and his firearms were useless against them.
—
Lightning eventually hid in a patrol car.
The sound of footsteps grew closer. Through the window, he saw several vampires approaching.
Lightning held his breath, gripping his firearm tightly.
The vampires drew nearer. Their sharp fangs and bloodied lips were now clearly visible to Lightning.
Then, one of the vampires noticed something.
It turned its gaze toward the patrol car, a mocking smile spreading across its face.
The vampire began walking toward the car.
Realizing he had been discovered, Lightning sprang out of the vehicle, firearm in hand.
“Don’t come any closer, or I’ll shoot!” he shouted.
The vampires responded with sinister laughter, ignoring his warning as they rushed toward him.
Lightning pulled the trigger.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Bullets struck the vampires, but to Lightning’s horror, they didn’t fall.
“What…?” Lightning’s voice trembled as despair set in.
Without wasting another moment, he turned and ran.
—
Reaching the first floor, Lightning was greeted by a gruesome sight.
Bodies were strewn everywhere-the lifeless forms of his officers, all drained of blood.
Seeing the massacre, Lightning’s eyes reddened with grief.
But the sound of footsteps behind him snapped him back to reality.
He bolted toward the main entrance.
Just as he reached the door, he froze.
Standing in the doorway was a pale man with blood-red eyes and razor-sharp fangs.
Lightning’s heart sank. He had been cornered.
Taking a deep breath, he steadied himself. “Who are you? I’m Lightning, the precinct chief of the East Coast. You’ve attacked this precinct and slaughtered innocent people. This is the East Coast-Mr. Shelby won’t let you get away with this!”
The pale man smirked. “Let me introduce myself. I’m Baron David of the Blood Clan. You killed our kin, and today, we’re here for revenge. No one can save you.”
With that, David stepped forward, his blood-red eyes fixed on Lightning.
Lightning raised his firearm and fired without hesitation.
