Seraphina
I wasn’t a strong person.
When I opened my eyes and saw Kael, I couldn’t stop myself from hugging him tightly. My body trembled uncontrollably, fear gripping me.
Images of Lucian dragging me to the hotel, nearly assaulting me, flashed through my mind.
Even though Lucian and I had once been in love, I could no longer tolerate him after discovering his betrayal.
The mere touch of his hand made my stomach churn with disgust.
And yet, he had nearly gone so far as to force himself on me.
Crying uncontrollably, I buried myself in Kael’s chest. If Kael hadn’t shown up when he did, I didn’t know what would’ve happened to me.
“Don’t cry, Seraphina. You’re safe now, okay? I’ll stay with you,” Kael said, holding me in his lap.
I felt his broad, solid frame. His warmth gave me a sense of strength, though it only slightly eased my anxiety.
Gripping his shirt tightly, I pressed my face into his chest. My tears spilled freely, soaking the fabric of his shirt.
Before long, the area over his heart was completely damp.
“I’m so sorry,” I sobbed, reaching out to wipe his shirt.
It wasn’t intentional-I didn’t mean to make such a mess, but I couldn’t control myself.
My emotions were in shambles, my mind overwhelmed.
“It’s okay, Seraphina. If you need to cry, cry as much as you want,” Kael murmured as he held me close, his hand gently brushing away my tears.
Leaning against him, I thought to myself: I never imagined that Kael, of all people, could make me feel so safe.
I kept crying, wishing I could calm down, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t stop.
As my sobs filled the room, I heard Kael sigh. Then, unexpectedly, he cupped my face in his hands.
“That’s enough, Seraphina,” he said softly. “If you keep crying like this, I’m going to feel heartbroken.”
Before I could respond, his lips pressed against my tear-streaked cheeks, kissing away every drop.
His lips were warm, their touch both surprising and comforting.
I froze, completely caught off guard by what he was doing.
My body stiffened, and my tears stopped falling.
Kael continued, kissing my cheeks methodically, removing every trace of my tears.
Finally, his lips found mine. His tongue slipped into my mouth, intertwining with mine in a slow, intimate dance.
We held each other tightly, kissing for what felt like an eternity.
When Kael pulled back, he smiled gently, his deep brown eyes sparkling with warmth.
“Feeling better now?” he asked.
I stared into his eyes. They were so soft, so tender, like a calm, flowing river.
For some reason, my heart began pounding wildly in my chest.
I couldn’t explain it. We had kissed countless times before, shared intimate nights together.
Yet somehow, this tender moment stirred something new within me.
It felt as though I finally understood-Kael loved me.
He truly loved me.
I had doubted his feelings so many times before, but now, I was certain.
Kael gently set me back on the bed. “You should feel better now, Seraphina. Try to get some rest.”
I nodded.
As my emotions settled, exhaustion washed over me like a tidal wave.
Kael stroked my cheek. “Sleep well. Don’t overthink things.”
There was something soothing in his voice, a kind of magic that made my eyelids grow heavy.
Just as I was about to drift off, I reached out, grabbing his hand.
“Kael, can you stay with me? I’m scared to be alone.”
I still wasn’t ready to sleep by myself.
“Of course,” he replied without hesitation, intertwining his fingers with mine.
He climbed into bed beside me, pulling me into his embrace.
“Sleep, Seraphina. I’m right here. Don’t worry,” he whispered, his deep voice wrapping around me like a blanket.
Nestled in his arms, surrounded by his warmth, I finally felt safe.
Eventually, I fell asleep.
This time, I wasn’t afraid.
In my dreams, Kael was with me.
I even dreamed of his wolf and another-a striking white wolf.
The two wolves leaned against each other, their closeness radiating a quiet beauty.
It was a scene so serene, so perfect, that it filled me with peace.
When I woke up the next morning, Kael was still holding me.
“You’re awake?” he asked with a smile, his voice clear and alert.
He must have been awake for some time.
I pulled away from him, feeling a trace of embarrassment. “I’m sorry, Kael. I’ve troubled you so much.”
“It’s no trouble,” he said, his smile unwavering. “Do you feel better now?”
I nodded.
After a good night’s sleep, my body felt lighter, my mind less burdened.
The mere thought of yesterday’s events no longer sent me spiraling.
I got out of bed and freshened up in the bathroom.
This was Kael’s apartment, but it was now filled with items that belonged to me.
Even the toothbrushes-his was blue, mine pink-sat side by side like a perfect pair.
When I came out, I noticed the dining table was already set with food.
“I was worried about you,” Kael explained. “You didn’t eat much yesterday, so I ordered plenty for breakfast.”
“Thank you,” I said, sitting down across from him.
My stomach growled in protest, and I quickly started eating.
The first bite of creamy macaroni and cheese felt like it healed a piece of my soul.
As I ate, I glanced at Kael. “What do you plan to do about Lucian?”
“I want to kill him,” Kael said bluntly.
I froze, startled by his words.
“Killing him… isn’t that too extreme?” I said hesitantly.
Lucian deserved to face the consequences of his actions, but Kael’s suggestion seemed far too harsh.
