The bald man punched Toby, but instead of causing any harm, a cracking sound echoed as his right hand broke.
Toby’s chest was as hard as iron.
Then, with another sharp crack, the bald man’s chest caved in, and he flew backward like a kite with a broken string.
Blood gushed out.
“Ugh!”
The bald man fell to the ground, barely alive but definitely on the brink of death.
Toby didn’t even glance at him as he stepped over him.
Darnell clicked his tongue. Lisa and her group had suffered a huge loss this time. Over thirty people they hired got injured badly without even touching him.
He secretly gave Toby a thumbs-up, thanking him for taking care of those men.
Areli instinctively grabbed Darnell. Although she had seen many battles, Toby’s ruthless combat skills still made her wary.
As he approached, it felt like a fierce tiger was coming closer, the intimidating aura making her heart race. “Darnell, just run him over.”
“Don’t worry. I can handle it.”
Darnell could feel Areli’s cold palm. He didn’t tease her as usual but held her hand reassuringly.
“Stay in the car. I’ll go scare him off.”
Areli’s eyelid twitched. She wasn’t entirely convinced by Darnell’s words but nodded nonetheless. “Be careful.”
At that moment, Toby reached the front of the car and fixed his gaze on Darnell.
“Impressive, impressive.”
Darnell glanced at the dozens of injured people, then opened the car door and stepped out, clapping his hands lightly. “Still strong in your old age.”
Toby pointed a finger and spoke coldly, “Hand over Areli to me, and I won’t make things difficult for you.”
Darnell chuckled, “I remember you weren’t interested in women. Why are you trying to abduct one now?”
“My reason for taking her is the same as your reason for protecting her.”
“I didn’t want to deal with you so soon, but since you’re disrupting our plans, I must make a move.”
Although Utopia hadn’t been successfully developed yet, Toby wanted to capture Areli ahead of schedule to avoid complications.
With her in hand, the clinical trials for Utopia were only a matter of time.
Darnell made an acknowledging sound. “So it was you who planted the bugs.”
He was quite displeased. “People from Baycliff are perverted. Who would plant bugs in someone’s shirt button instead of an office or car?”
“That’s a violation of privacy. What if I got intimate with her? Wouldn’t you hear everything? Toby, go back and tell your people not to do such things next time.”
“Darnell, I’m not interested in wasting words with you.”
Toby’s hoarse voice came through. “Either hand her over or I’ll cripple you and take her by force.”
Darnell looked dissatisfied. “Areli is my girlfriend. If I hand her over to you, wouldn’t that disgrace my title-Scarlet Bayonet?”
Toby snorted coldly, “If you insist on opposing me, death is your only outcome!”
“Toby, this is Westergold, not Baycliff. What makes you so arrogant?”
Darnell put on a stern face and lectured him, “Do you know that injuring so many people is a serious crime?”
He waved his phone. “I’ve recorded everything and called the police. If you don’t leave now, you’ll be shot dead by them.”
“Shameless!”
Toby leaped onto a rock again with icy eyes. “I’ll give you ten seconds. If you don’t hand her over, I’ll kill you.”
“If you were confident in killing me, you’d have done it already instead of making threats.”
Darnell sighed deeply. “Don’t forget who burned your eyebrows.”
Toby’s eyes sharpened. “That was because you used dirty tricks. What’s there to be proud of?”
“Darnell, you’re a king among gunmen. With a gun in hand, you’re formidable. Without one, you’re nothing.”
He spoke coldly, “You don’t have a gun now. What will you use to challenge me?”
Darnell’s left hand flashed as he held a red knife. “If you’ve got the guts, come at me.”
Toby’s pupils contracted in shock. “Bloodlust?”
Darnell was quite proud. “Toby, you have a good eye.”
A hint of seriousness appeared on Toby’s face as his breathing quickened. He had never seen Bloodlust but had heard many legends about it.
In Darnell’s hands, it was like a flying knife-deadly accurate and never missing its mark. No one had ever survived its blade.
Toby instinctively touched his throat before sneering, “Given your shamelessness, I bet the legends about this weapon-you’re the one who spread them, aren’t you?”
“If no one ever survived this weapon, then, who would spread such words?”
As he spoke, his fist gradually clenched, and his body tensed, as if he might strike Darnell with a heavy blow at any moment.
“Damn! You figured that out?”
Darnell’s face showed disappointment. “You’re right. The legends about my weapon… I paid to spread them myself.”
“To reach my current status and better market myself, I spent over ten million dollars.”
Darnell advised, “Toby, since we’ve known each other for a long time, don’t expose this secret everywhere. I’ll treat you to dinner another day.”
Toby’s mouth twitched, and his clenched fist loosened slightly, unable to tell if Darnell was lying.
At this moment, Darnell smiled faintly. “However… it’s true that no one has survived this blade.”
Toby looked contemptuous. “Can you kill me?”
Darnell was calm. “Many people didn’t believe it. When they finally did, they were already dead. You can try if you want.”
He suddenly became melancholic, with an indescribable sadness, as if mourning his fallen opponents.
The gleam of Bloodlust disappeared from Darnell’s fingertips. Toby didn’t know where it went, but he knew that when it reappeared, it would taste blood.
Toby fell silent.
The night wind gradually rose, bringing winter’s chill, and he felt a hint of coldness.
He loosened his fist and abandoned his fighting spirit, leaving only defiance in his eyes.
“I will take this woman sooner or later.”
In the end, Toby gave up on the idea of confronting Darnell and his Bloodlust, as he only had one life.
He leaned back, stomped his right foot, and the rock shot out like a cannonball with a boom.
“You may protect her for now but not forever.”
“Bang!”
This time, Darnell didn’t dodge but punched the rock, shattering it into pieces that scattered across the road.
Toby stopped and turned, surprised.
Darnell walked out from the dust cloud, his broad figure and profound presence like a demon god descending to earth.
“Toby, remember this-if you dare lay a finger on Areli, I’ll annihilate your entire clan.”
