TIFFANY’S POV
“This student has shown exceptional character, leadership, and kindness throughout the year. And the prom queen of the year and overall best Student is… TIFFANY Dion! Congratulations Tiffany, you deserve this honor.”
She felt her heart skip a beat as she heard her name being called out as prom queen. She couldn’t believe it. Shawn looked at her with pride and joy in his eyes as he applauded along with the rest of the students.
“Go on,” he said, nudging her slightly. That was when she realized she was still seated.
She stood up and walked up to the podium, her baby bump leading the way. Principal Campbell placed a crown on her head and handed her a bouquet of flowers. She graciously accepted them and waved the bouquet to the cheering crowd.
She then took the microphone and looked at her classmates with a smile. “Thank you all so much. I am so honored and grateful to be chosen as Prom Queen and overall best Student. This has been an incredible night, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to end our senior year. Let’s continue to make memories and cherish these moments together. Thank you all,” she said, her voice filled with emotion she handed the microphone back to principal Campbell.
“You are amazing. I’m so proud of you,” Shawn said, pecking her cheeks.
“Thank you,” she replied, offering him a smile.
“I will be right back,” he suddenly said as he stood up. He walked away before she could ask him where he was headed.
She concluded he was probably going to use the restroom and was about to look away when she saw him walking towards the podium.
The hell! What was he up to? She didn’t have to be clueless for long because he took hold of the microphone and began to talk.
“I just want to take this moment to let you all know how much I love that beautiful preggy girl over there,” he said, pointing at her.
Everyone, including herself, chuckled at his sense of humor.
“We didn’t really meet on a good note. We were always on each other’s neck, bickering and fighting. As mother fate would have it, I tripped and fell so hard for her. Trust me, she fell even harder,” once again, everyone burst into laughter.
“And since then, she has shown me love, kindness, and strength in ways I never knew possible. And now, as we await the arrival of our little one, I am more grateful than ever to have her by my side,” he paused again, his voice wavering.
“Tiffany, I love you more than words can express, and I promise to love and cherish you for all the days of my life. I’m saying it here in public and that’s how I will keep saying it in private. I love you down to every cell in me. Thank you for being my rock, my love, for rocking my world and being my everything. I love you to the moon and back,” he said finally, and handed the microphone back to principal Campbell.
The crowd erupted into cheers and Tiffany felt tears of joy and love welling up in her eyes as she looked at him. Oh! How much she loved him.
Immediately he returned to his seat beside her, she quickly locked his lips with hers, refusing to let go. The crowd kept cheering and taking pictures of them.
And so, the party continued on a good and happy note.
SHAWN’S POV
The night finally came to an end and it was time for them to head home. He gently helped her up, as he led her to the car. She was obviously exhausted from her drowsy eyes.
He helped her get in, before walking to the driver’s seat. He turned on the ignition and they were soon on their way home. Few minutes later, they arrived and he parked the car. Turning to look at her, he chuckled when he was met with her sleeping face. She was so adorable he thought as he carried her in bridal style and walked inside.
************************************
Months later…
It was a Saturday and he was making them breakfast while Tiffany was in the sitting room watching her favorite reality show. Her sharp cry got him running to the sitting room. He met her seated, her legs spread apart with water trickling down her legs.
“My water Just broke. The baby…I think the baby is coming. Argh…. my waist!” She screamed, gasping for breath.
“What can I do?” He asked, confused.
“Take me to the hospital, silly!” She yelled, slapping his arms.
“The hospital? Oh, that’s right,” he said and hurried upstairs to get his car keys. He returned and tried to carry her but she slapped his hands away.
“Seriously? Are you going to take me to the hospital wearing an apron?” She asked, glaring at him.
The hell? What was up with her new hostile attitude. Hurriedly, he ran into the kitchen to take off the apron.
“Shawn!” She screamed loudly.
He quickly dropped the apron on the kitchen island without bothering to keep it back in the drawer where it belonged.
He was completely confused and overwhelmed as he rushed around to gather the things they would be needing and carried her to the car. As they sped towards the hospital, she continued to scream in pain, clutching onto his hand tightly.
“Oh my God, it hurts so much! We need to get there fast, hurry!” She yelled, her voice filled with panic and pain.
“We’re almost there, hang in there, we’ll get through this,” he reassured her, trying to stay calm himself.
When they reached the hospital, he quickly parked the car and helped her out, rushing her into the hallway. Nurses and doctors rushed to them, as they took her from him, preparing for the delivery.
Outside the delivery room, he called his parents, her father and Bryan. He couldn’t go through all of it alone. He needed them with him because he was getting scared. He has never witnessed a female go into labour.
After he was done with the call, he kept hearing her shout of anguish and pain. Defying the nurses instructions, he badged into the delivery room.
She lay on a delivery bed, and immediately gripped his hand tightly as the contractions continued to wrack her body. He could see the pain perched on her face, and he felt completely helpless.
“I love you, baby. You’re doing great, just keep breathing,” he whispered, trying to comfort her.
In between contractions, she yelled at him, “And I love you too. Just in case I don’t make it, always remember I love you,”
His heart skipped a million beats and he immediately chided her for her choice of words. “Don’t say that, please. We will raise our child together. You are going nowhere.”
She nodded her head weakly. Just then, a nurse informed him that it was time to leave as they were about to begin the delivery process because she was fully dilated.
Reluctantly, he walked out of the room. He began to pace the length of the hallway. At that moment, he wished his family would arrive and be with him. He was losing his mind hearing her screams.
A few minutes later, his parents, her father and Bryan arrived.
“How is she faring?” His mother asked anxiously, as she rushed to him.
He didn’t need to answer because Tiffany’s loud scream of pain reverberated through the hallway. Everyone cringed as they began to Pace like him. It was indeed a trying moment for them all.
An hour later, Tiffany gave one long last scream that was followed by the shrill cry of a baby. They all turned to look at each other in happiness.
Just then, a nurse walked out of the room. “Congratulations, Mr Gold. Your wife has delivered a bouncing baby boy,” she said, beaming with smiles.
Shawn didn’t realize when he turned to his father and gave him a huge hug, almost lifting the older man off the floor.
“I’m a father now. I have a son, everyone.” He screamed, his eyes bulging out in excitement.
They were permitted to see the mother and child after they had been transferred to a private room.
He held their baby in his arms, tears of joy streaming down his face as he marveled at the miracle before him. Tiffany smiled weakly, reaching out to touch their baby’s tiny hand.
“We did it, we have our little miracle,” she whispered, exhaustion vivid in her voice.
He leaned down and kissed her forehead gently, feeling grateful to her for their son.
“Thank you for making me a father, darling. I love you now and forever, my brat.”
“I love you too, jerk.” She replied, before closing her eyes in an exhausted slumber.
THE END.
