SHAWN’S POV
He was surprised and scared as she ran into the kitchen and he followed her immediately. He met her bending over the sink and throwing up.
“Are you okay?” He asked, rubbing her back.
She nodded and rinsed her mouth before walking back to the dinning. And since that day, he can’t help but notice slight changes in her. She slept more than necessary, added weight and developed an aversion for most things she used to love, things like seafood and perfumes.
It was a Saturday and after ensuring she was fine, he decided to meet with Brian at the bar where they often hung out. Brian had just returned from one of his numerous travels, and he was eager to catch up with him and fill him in on the recent developments.
As he walked into the dimly lit bar, he spotted Brian sitting at their usual booth. Brian’s face lit up with a smile as he saw him approaching.
“Hey, man. It’s been ages since we’ve seen each other,” Brian exclaimed, standing up to greet him with a hug and handshake.
“Yeah, I know, right? You are barely in town. Always traveling from one exhibition to the other.” he replied. “How was your trip?”
“Awesome. I got the jewellery you asked me to get last time.” Brian took out a box and handed it to him.
“Thank you,”
“Oh, by the way, how’s she doing?” Brian asked curiously, sipping his drink.
Without being told, he knew Brian was referring to Tiffany.
A mixture of emotions flooded through him as he hesitated for a moment. How could he confess that he, who claimed he would never fall in love with Tiffany, was now head over heels for her?
He let out a nervous chuckle, unable to hide the truth. “You won’t believe it, Brian, but I’ve actually fallen in love with her.”
Brian’s eyes widened, and then he burst into laughter, teasing him for his sudden change of heart.
“You know, I distinctly remember you saying you’d never fall in love with her,” he chuckled. “Looks like love got the best of you, my friend.”
Shawn grinned sheepishly, realizing just how futile his resistance had been. “Yeah, I guess love has its own plans.”
Brian Kept teasing him until he finally changed the topic to what was bothering him.
” I don’t know, but I think something is not okay with her of late,” he said, assuming a serious tone.
“What do you mean?”
” I don’t know if it’s just me but, she has put on visible weight, she now sleeps a lot and she suddenly dislikes things she used to love. She is not sick in the real sense but I’m just worried about the changes.”
“I don’t really know much about female health, but I suggest she takes a break. You know, a change of scenery. You could take her on a short trip to unwind. It might help.”
“Thanks, Man. I will put it into consideration.”
They spent the next few minutes chatting and laughing at each other’s jokes.
SHAWN’S POV
As the night grew older, they realized it was time to head home. They stood up and after paying for their drinks walked out to their parked cars.
“Thanks for tonight, man.” he said, leaning on his car.
“You don’t have to thank me. I have got your back always,” Brian replied.
He nodded and they exchanged hugs and handshakes before they both got into their cars and drove away.
Arriving home, he met Tiffany settled on the couch, sleeping. He approached her, the small jewelry box concealed within his pocket.
“Hey, babe,” he said, tapping her. “I have something for you.”
Her eyes went open as she sat up. “You are back?”
“Yes, I am and I got you something.” he said, handing her the box.
Her eyes filled with curiosity as he handed her the box. She opened it slowly, a gasp escaping her lips when she discovered the shiny diamond accessories inside.
“Oh, Shawn!” she exclaimed, wrapping her hands around him “These are absolutely stunning! Thank you so much!”
“You’re welcome. I’m glad you like them. I asked Brian to help me get them at Seattle on his recent trip.”
“They are lovely. I love them so much. Thank you for getting me them.”
“You are welcome. Have you had dinner?”
“No, I was waiting for you.”
“C’mon, let’s go and have dinner.” he extended his hand and pulled her up as they walked to the dining room.
They had dinner as he filled her in on his time with Brian. A few minutes later, they were done and he helped her clear the table. And then it was time to retire to bed. They walked upstairs to his room, as they now shared it.
He slipped off his clothes and put on his pyjamas. He got in the bed and she snuggled close to him in a peaceful slumber.
The following day, he awoke with the first rays of sunlight filtering through the curtains. He glanced at the clock, and jumped out of bed realizing he was running behind schedule. He gently nudged Tiffany, urging her to wake up.
“Hey, you need to get ready,” he whispered, “You’ll be late for school.”
Rubbing her eyes, she groaned softly before grudgingly getting out of bed. He headed downstairs to make breakfast.
Once he was done he went back upstairs to shower and get dressed. She was dressing up when he got back to the room.
“Breakfast is ready. I will be out soon so we can eat and Leave. We are both running late.” he said and walked past her into the bathroom. He finished a few minutes later and got dressed before picking up his briefcase and walking downstairs.
They had breakfast and quickly finished their meal, he kissed her goodbye and headed out the door.
He got to the office and settled in. A lot of paperwork needed to be attended to and so he immersed himself in them. Soon, it was lunch break and before heading out for lunch, he quickly booked two flight tickets to Los Angeles for himself and Tiffany.
