TIFFANY’S POV
She had just gotten back from school and after freshening up and having lunch, she laid on her bed to rest. She was almost dozing off when her phone dinged in notification. She checked and saw it was an email from her modeling agency.
“Dear Tiffany, we are sending the email in respect to our decision for you to be our model for a female fitness wear brand. Kindly let us know if you accept or not.” The message read.
Her face lit up in excitement. Every modeling opportunity always got her excited. Of course she was going to accept, but first, she would have to tell Shawn about it.
She couldn’t contain her excitement as she waited for him to return from work.
When Shawn finally walked through the front door, she rushed to hug him.
Over dinner, as they sat at the dining table, She couldn’t help but gush about the offer. “Guess what? I just received an email from my modeling agency!” she exclaimed, her eyes beaming with joy.
Shawn looked up from his plate, “Oh really? What’s it about?” he asked.
“They want me to be the model for a female fitness wear brand!” she exclaimed, unable to hide her excitement.
A “That’s amazing. I’m so proud of you,” he said and leaned over to place a gentle kiss on her cheek.
“But,” she continued, her excitement momentarily subdued, “I haven’t replied to the email yet. I wanted to discuss it with you first.”
“It’s important to consider how it will fit into your schedule, especially with school,” he said, reaching for his water glass. “You should ask the organizers if they could schedule the event during the weekend, so it doesn’t clash with your classes.”
“You’re right. I’ll communicate my availability to them and see if we can work something out. So, is that a yes?”
He reached across the table, gently squeezing her hand. “Yes, it is. It is something you have passion for and all I can do is support you.”
Her heart swelled with gratitude and love for the man sitting across from her. She knew she was fortunate to have his unwavering support.
When Saturday finally arrived, the agency sent a car to pick her up.
“I’m going to miss you. Be safe and make sure you call me when you arrive.” Shawn said as he helped her carry her luggage.
“I will. I’m going to miss you too.” She replied. They hugged before she got into the car and drove off.
She arrived at the venue and was checked into a hotel where she would rest and prepare for the next day’s shoot. The next day, a car came to pick her up at the hotel and she was driven to the photo shoot location.
At the photo shoot venue, she posed rigorously for an hour for the camera. As fatigue set in, she began feeling lightheaded and dizzy. Her vision blurred and her legs gave in, causing her to collapse.
She awoke in a hospital bed, disoriented and frightened. A doctor entered the room and introduced himself.
“Hi miss, I’m Dr. Matthews. How are you feeling?” he asked in a gentle voice.
She blinked, trying to get her eyes accustomed to their environment. “I… I’m not sure. What happened?” she asked, her voice shaking.
The doctor sighed softly, his face sympathetic. “I’m afraid you fainted during the photo shoot. After running some tests, we discovered the cause of your collapse. You’re pregnant, Miss.”
She gasped, her hands involuntarily going to cover her mouth. Pregnant? How could this be? Fear and confusion washed over her as she thought about the possibility of another human growing inside of her.
“I… I didn’t know,” she stammered.
“It’s quite common for pregnancies to go unnoticed, especially during the early stages. But now that you are aware, it’s important to seek prenatal care and be careful about your health henceforth.”
She nodded, her mind still shocked from the news. She made up her mind at that moment. She would hide her pregnancy from Shawn for now, until she was sure of what she wanted.
“Thank you, doctor,” she managed to say, her voice barely above a whisper.
The doctor nodded. “I’ll leave you to rest.
As the door closed behind him, she laid back on the hospital bed, staring at the ceiling. She soon fell asleep and by evening, she was discharged. She was driven back to the hospital but before then, she pleaded with the doctor not to disclose her health to her agency.
She got back to the hotel and got on a video call with Shawn. She was tempted to tell him about the pregnancy but thought against her. She wasn’t sure if she was going to keep the baby or she was going to lose it.
“I can’t wait to see you tomorrow. I miss you, babe.” He said over the phone.
“I miss you too.”
“Okay. I will leave you to rest. Good night.”
“Good night,” she replied, and the call ended.
She sighed and dropped the phone beside her on the bed. She was worried and scared. She never planned to fall pregnant with a child at age nineteen. So many conflicting thoughts filled her head as she fell asleep.
She woke up the next morning feeling tired, despite how much she slept the previous day. She got off the bed and walked into the bathroom to freshen up. She was happy that she was finally going back home. After she was done in the bathroom, she walked back to the room. A knock on the door indicated the presence of the room attendants. She walked to the door and took her breakfast from the lady.
Settling down at the table, she tried to eat but realized she didn’t have an appetite. When she tried further, she felt the urge to throw up and she rushed to the bathroom to empty her stomach. She returned to the room feeling light-headed. She got on the bed and laid down to rest. A few minutes later, her phone rang, and when she picked it was the driver that was to drive her home.
She got down from the bed, grabbed her luggage and walked out. She got into the car and soon, she was on her way home.
She arrived home and Shawn was at the entrance door waiting for her. He immediately engulfed her in a hug as he plastered kisses on her face.
“I’m glad you are back,” he said, releasing her from the hug.
“I’m glad to be home to you.”
“C’mon. You look tired.” He carried her luggage as they walked inside.
“You must be hungry. I ordered your favorite seafood combo. You will love it.”
She nodded as he led her to the dining room.
“I will be right back,” he said, walking upstairs with her luggage. He returned a few minutes later and went into the kitchen. He returned with a tray containing food. He set it on the table and uncovered it. Immediately the aroma of the food hit her nose, she felt nauseous as she jerked up from the chair and ran to the kitchen sink, emptying whatever was left in her stomach.
