SHAWN’S POV
He ended up not having anything to do with Edna the previous night. Despite how hard he tried, he just couldn’t bring himself to sleep with a total stranger.
He was a big fan of commitment and sex was a big deal to him. He had to be committed and attracted to a lady before he could go down with her.
He raked his hair with his hand as he remembered Edna’s question that night after he asked her to go to bed because nothing was going to happen between them.
“Are you being serious right now? We should go to bed, just like that?” She asked, surprise evident in her tone.
“Yes, go to bed. I have something to do on my phone, once I’m done, I will sleep on the couch.” Shawn replied.
“But this was not our agreement! We were supposed to spend the night fucking! Fucking, and not sleeping, dude.” She replied and Shawn cringed at her bluntness.
“I know, right? But I don’t feel like it. Just sleep.” Shawn replied.
“Are you impotent?” She suddenly asked.
“No, I’m not.” Shawn replied.
“Are you gay?” She asked again.
Shawn turned to look at her momentarily before muttering “No.”
“Then what could be the problem? Am I not attractive enough?” She asked, making puppy eyes.
“Don’t get me wrong, Edna. You are a very attractive woman. One that turns heads, but I can’t have sex with you. I hope you understand and stop asking questions.” Shawn replied.
“Okay. I get, you are shy or maybe tired. I can do the whole job, I don’t mind.” She said and got down from the bed and walked towards him.
“Can you just be reasonable for once?!” Shawn snapped at her as she tried to caress his face.
“Fine. But be rest assured that tomorrow, I will tell the whole world you are not man enough.” She threatened before walking back to the bed.
Shawn ignored her and continued with what he was doing.
He slept on the couch while she slept on the bed, and the next morning while preparing for work he woke her up to leave.
She grudgingly left after he booked a cab for her, gave her some cash and his business card.
The sound of the intercom brought him out of his reverie.
“Sir, a lady is here to see you.” Leslie said into the phone as he picked up.
“A lady?” He asked rhetorically. What lady? Leslie knew all the women in his life from his mother to Rachel and then Tiffany. If it was any of them, she would have been precise.
“Sir?” Leslie called again as he had gone silent.
“Did she give you a name?” He asked.
“She said her name is Edna Garter.” Leslie replied
“Shit!” Shawn cussed. This must have been the reason she asked for his business card. To trace him to his working place.
“Sir, are you there?” Leslie asked.
“Yes, I am. Let her up.” Shawn replied and dropped the call.
A few minutes later, the door went open and Edna walked in bearing a bouquet and wine.
“Hi, handsome.” She said cheerfully, and dropped the items on the table.
“What are you doing here?” Shawn asked angrily.
“I’m not scared by that look of yours. I’m here to see you of course.” She said and walked over to peck his both cheeks.
“Get away from me! I don’t remember asking you to come over to my company.” Shawn said and pushed her away.
“You are mean, Shawn Gold!” She said, pouting.
“Yes, I am. You don’t visit people at their place of work uninvited. This is a corporate environment and not for leisure or pleasure!” Shawn replied, his face contorted in anger.
“Alright, I’m sorry.” She said, pouting the more.
“I’m afraid I will have to ask you to leave. I have work to do.” Shawn said.
“I said I’m sorry.” Edna said.
“Apology accepted. Please, leave now.”
“Fine. I will leave now, but call me, okay?” She said and blew him kisses.
“Please, go with your gifts.” He called after her.
But she ignored him and walked out of the door.
“This is getting out of hand.” Shawn muttered as he stared at the bouquet and wine.
RACHEL’S POV
She was about to head to Shawn’s office when she saw a lady with a bouquet and wine entering his office.
She ducked and stealthily walked to his office door. She gently placed her ear on the door as she eavesdropped on their conversation.
“What are you doing here?” Shawn’s angry voice sounded.
“I’m not scared by that look of yours. I’m here to see you of course.” The lady said.
“Get away from me! I don’t remember asking you to come over to my company.” Shawn shouted.
“You are mean, Shawn Gold!” The lady said.
“Yes, I am. You don’t visit people at their place of work uninvited. This is a corporate environment and not for leisure or pleasure!” Shawn replied.
“Alright, I’m sorry.” The lady apologized.
“I’m afraid I will have to ask you to leave. I have work to do.” Shawn retorted.
“I said I’m sorry.” The lady said.
“Apology accepted. Please, leave now.”
“Fine. I will leave now, but call me, okay?…” Rachel didn’t wait anymore, she hurried away and hid in a corner.
She watched the lady walk out, dragging her skimpy gown down.
Where the hell and the hell did Shawn meet someone like her? She even brought him romantic gifts.
She would deal with Shawn later, but at that point, she had to go after the lady and find out who she was.
She immediately got into the elevator, and a few minutes later, it let her out in the reception area. She saw the lady Walking away and quickly went after her.
“Hello. Excuse me.” She called, as she ran to catch up with her.
“Yes? Who are you?” The lady asked rudely as she stopped.
They were close to the exit gate at that point.
“Oh, hi. I’m Tracy. You are so beautiful, I must say. Especially your ginger colored hair.” Rachel said with a faux smile.
“Oh, really? Thank you. I know I’m beautiful.” The lady said, her once angry face now replaced with a fake polite smile.
“Do you work here or you came to visit someone?” Rachel asked.
“Work here? No, I don’t. I came to visit my boyfriend.” The lady replied, flipping her hair.
“Wow! That’s nice. Your boyfriend must be lucky to have a beautiful and caring lady like you. Who is this boyfriend of yours? Is he a staff here?” Rachel probed further.
“Oh, yes. As a matter of fact, he is the CEO here. Shawn Gold, that is his name.” The lady replied, pride evident in her voice.
“Shawn Gold?” Rachel asked, unable to hide her surprise.
“Yes. Do you know him or do you have a problem with that? You know what? I don’t know why I’m talking to someone like you. Bye.” The lady replied and tried to walk away.
“Oh, no. Don’t be upset. I’m just surprised you are the girlfriend of one of Vancouver’s richest and youngest Billionaires.” Rachel said, regaining composure.
“Surprising, right?” The lady said, and flipped her hair more.
“Can I get your business card and probably a picture?” Rachel asked, putting on a smile.
“Oh, sure. I think I like you, maybe, just maybe, you could be one of our workers when we finally get married.” The lady said as she rummaged her handbag for her business card.
“I would love that.” Rachel replied.
“Here you go.” The lady said and handed Rachel her business card.
“Hmmm…Edna Garter. Beautician.” Rachel read out.
“Yes, darling. And for the picture, it’s a no. I can’t take pictures with you. Bye for now.” The lady said and sashayed away.
“Foolish bitch!” Rachel cussed as she watched her walk away.
She was definitely going to teach her a lesson, but for now, Shawn had a lot of answering to do. And with that, she walked inside.
