RACHEL’S POV
She watched Shawn as he got out of his car, and made his way into the building.
As usual, her breath was taken away by how handsome he looked. She knew she couldn’t stay mad at him and would have to talk to him. After stalling for some time to let him settle down, She stood up and walked to his office.
“Hey.” She greeted as she walked into his office.
“Hi.” He replied, as he went through some documents on his table.
“So, I wanted to apologize for my outburst yesterday. It was uncalled for and I take it back.” Rachel began, fiddling with her fingers.
Shawn stared at her for a while before replying “It’s fine.”
“Are you sure?” Rachel asked, in excitement.
“Yes, I am.” Shawn replied.
“Since you have forgiven me, how about we visit the karaoke bar again on Saturday?” She asked.
He made to say something but stopped and muttered a low “Okay.”
“Thank you. I will leave you to work.” Rachel said and walked out.
SHAWN’S POV
He was sorting out some things in the files on his table when Rachel walked in.
“Hey.” She greeted as she walked into his office.
“Hi.” He replied, as he continued to go through documents on his table.
“So, I wanted to apologize for my outburst yesterday. It was uncalled for and I take it back.” She began, fiddling with her fingers.
He stared up at her for a while before replying “It’s fine.”
“Are you sure?” Rachel asked, in excitement.
“Yes, I am.” He replied.
“Since you have forgiven me, how about we visit the karaoke bar again on Saturday?” She asked.
He wanted to decline when he remembered he had asked Tiffany out on a date at the same karaoke bar, but thought against it and replied “Okay.”
“Thank you. I will leave you to work.” Rachel said and walked out.
He let go of the documents and placed his face on his palm. What was he doing?
He had asked Tiffany out on a date at the karaoke bar, but there he was accepting to go with Rachel.
He doesn’t know why, but he needed to distance himself as far as possible from Tiffany. He was getting too used to her presence and that was not part of the deal. They were in a marriage of convenience for crying out loud and getting emotionally attached was not in the context.
He sighed as he raised his head and returned back to work.
Before he realized it, it was time for Lunch. He was not in the mood to go out for lunch so he decided to call his secretary and ask her to buy him takeout.
“Leslie, please get me takeout.” He said into the intercom.
“The usual, Sir?” She asked.
“Yes, the usual.” He replied.
He had just gotten off the phone when Rachel walked in. “Let’s go for lunch. It’s time already.” She said.
“I’ m sorry. I’m not in the mood to go out. I asked Leslie to buy me takeout.” Shawn said.
“Oh! We can eat together in your office then.” Rachel said.
“Don’t you have an office of your own? Why would you eat in mine?” Shawn asked.
“Come on, Shawn. What’s bad if we eat in your office? You know it would be fun.” Rachel whined.
“I insist. Eat in your office.” Shawn said, adamantly.
“Okay. I guess you are not in a good mood today. I will see you later.” She said and walked out.
He wished she could just stay on her own for just a day. Her clinginess was driving him nuts.
TIFFANY’S POV
She was headed for the cafeteria to join her friends after teaching Oscar when Mary suddenly accosted her with her minions. She was tired, hungry and not ready for trouble so she made to walk pass.
“Not so fast, sharp tongue.” Mary said, and pulled her back.
“Don’t you ever get tired? Why do you want this time?” Tiffany asked.
“What do I want? I just want you to drop dead. Can you do that?” Mary asked.
Tiffany was taken aback by the venom in her tone, but she ignored it and put on a hard face. “Is that all you have got? Try harder!” Tiffany said.
“Trust me, you won’t survive my wrath if I try harder.” Mary said, circling her.
Tiffany knew she had to be careful as there was no one on sight. Everyone was in the cafeteria having lunch.
“You know what? I don’t have your time.” Tiffany said and made to walk away. As she walked past them, one of Mary’s minions placed a leg on her path and she stumbled and fell.
“ouch!” She screamed loudly, as she held her bruised knee. The affected part was where her pantyhose did not cover.
“This is just the tip of an iceberg, compared to what I will do to you next.” Mary threatened before hurrying off.
Tiffany stood up as she limped in pain to the cafeteria.
“What happened to you, Tiff?” Freya screamed when she saw her look towards them in the cafeteria.
“I fell down on my way here.” Tiffany lied.
“We have to go to the school clinic. This must hurt a lot.” Timothy said
“No, please. Let me have lunch first.” Tiffany said, whimpering.
“Okay, then. But we are going to the clinic as soon as you are done.” Freya said.
Tiffany managed to eat amidst the pain from her hurting knee. After recess, her friends escorted her to the school clinic.
“Good day, Mrs Mia.” They greeted the school nurse as they got to the clinic.
“Good day, kids. What brought you here?” She asked.
“Our friend hurt her knee.” Freya explained.
“Oh, miss Dion. I see you have an abrasion. Did you fall?” Mrs Mia asked, taking a look at her wound.
Tiffany nodded, unable to talk.
“I’m sorry about that. I will have to treat the wound and cover it up so it doesn’t get infected.” Mrs Mia said. “Have a seat.” She said, motioning them to where to sit, and then walked into an inner room.
She soon returned with a first aid box. “Let me have the leg, Miss Dion.” She said.
Tiffany stretched the affected leg and placed it on her lap like she required.
Mrs Mia cleaned the area around the wound with mild antiseptic and water, after which she gently patted the area dry with a clean towel. Then she applied a little amount of antibiotic ointment to the wound after which she covered the wound with a sterile bandage.
“Always change the bandage daily, or whenever it becomes soiled or wet or better keep the area dry and avoid getting it wet. And always elevate the injured leg to avoid swelling.” Mrs Mia advised after she was done treating the wound.
“Okay, Ma.” Tiffany replied.
“Before you leave, I will give you an analgesic to relieve the pain.” Mrs Mia said.
She walked into the room again and returned with a packet of drugs.
“This is called a diclofenac medicine and it would help with the pain. Take two tablets twice daily.” Mrs Mia said, even though the drugs prescription was written on its pack already.
“Thank you, Ma.” Tiffany said, as she took the medicine.
“You will be fine, and be careful next time.” Mrs Mia added.
“I will.” Tiffany said and bid Mrs Mia goodbye as she left the clinic with her friends.
“You will be fine, okay?” Freya said.
Tiffany nodded as they walked back to class.
