TIMOTHY’S POV
He got worried when he saw Tiffany hurry out of her class and decided to follow her. He followed her to their usual spot but was shocked when he saw Oscar sitted and obviously waiting for her.
He hid in a corner and watched them talk for some time. He was surprised and at the same angry.
How did the Oscar boy find out about their favourite spot? Only himself and Tiffany know about that place in the whole of the school.
Timothy’s heart grew bitter with anger and jealousy. Tiffany was getting attached to the new boy to the extent of sneaking out of class to meet him.
Were they dating already? The thought of Tiffany dating Oscar made him sick.
Sick of the sight before him, he hurriedly left his hideout and returned to class.
School soon dismissed and they all walked towards the parking lot together.
“Tiff, I saw you hurrying out of the class earlier today. Where did you go?” Timothy asked.
“Me? When was that?” Tiffany asked, confused.
“Maybe it was that time you left the class just after recess.” Freya said.
“Oh! I went…to use the restroom.” Tiffany stammered.
“The restroom?!” Timothy and Freya asked in unison.
“Yes. Why?” Tiffany asked.
“You never use the school restroom, remember?” Timothy reminded.
“Oh, well, there was an exemption today.” Tiffany said.
“Why don’t I believe that? Did you go to use the restroom or see someone rather?” Timothy asked.
“And what’s that supposed to mean? You know what? See your guys tomorrow.” Tiffany said and hastened her steps.
“What the hell? Is she alright, Timothy?” Freya asked as they watched Tiffany get into her car and drove off.
“I don’t think so. Probably a feminine mood swing.” Timothy said, shrugging.
“I’m shocked at her outburst. Tiffany never throws tantrums unnecessarily.” Freya said, worried.
“She will come around. I will see you tomorrow.” Timothy said and patted Freya’s back before walking off.
The next day at school, they didn’t see each other untill recess period.
“Where is Tiffany?” Timothy asked looking at the empty seat as he sat on his seat
“I don’t know. She asked me to go on so that she would join us later.” Freya said.
“This is strange. Do you think she is hiding something?” Timothy asked.
“I honestly don’t know. This new attitude started yesterday.” Freya said.
“Let’s just continue with our meal. Five minutes from now, I will go in search of her.” Timothy said.
“Okay.” Freya replied, and they started eating.
“Five minutes is up. I will go in search of her. While I’m away, get her lunch.” Timothy said and walked off.
As he walked out of the cafeteria, he had just one place in mind and that was their usual spot.
He got there, and as usual he found them. But was surprised, When he saw Tiffany and Oscar bent over a book. Tiffany was raising her head intermittently to make features with her hands.
Wait…was Tiffany teaching Oscar? Timothy was at a loss of what to make of the scene.
Why was Tiffany teaching him, and why would she agree to something like that in the first place?
After watching them for sometime, he decided to go back to the cafeteria.
“You couldn’t find her?” Freya asked.
“Umm…yes. Let’s just wait for her. She is not a kid.” Timothy replied as he took his seat.
They were halfway through their meal when Tiffany returned.
“Where have you been, Tiff?” Freya asked.
“Hey, guys. I went to sort out something. Please, don’t ask me why it is.” Tiffany said, taking her seat.
“You are acting strange and we can’t help but be worried.” Freya said.
“I’m fine. It’s not something I can’t handle.” Tiffany insisted. “Thank you for buying me lunch.” She added.
“I hope whatever all of these things are, it’s truly under your control.” Timothy said.
“Sure, it is.” Tiffany replied.
They never said a word to each other until recess was over.
“So, are we still going to the restaurant during the weekend?” Freya asked as they headed back to class.
“On the other hand, I think we should go somewhere else.” Timothy suggested.
“Where could that be?” Tiffany asked.
“A new Karaoke bar in town. I heard they make the best cocktail and their singers are tantamount to angels.” Timothy said.
“I would love that. What do you say, Tiff?” Frey asked, tugging at Tiffany’s arm.
“I would love to go too.” Tiffany said.
“Fine, then. We have a deal. And Saturday it is.” Freya said, excitedly.
They soon part ways as Tiffany and Freya headed for their class while Timothy left for his.
When he was sure they were out of eyeshot, Timothy turned back and headed for the spot at the back of the school. As he suspected, Oscar was still there because he did not see him return to the cafeteria with Tiffany.
“I thought I would see you here. I was right after all.” Timothy called out to Oscar as he walked towards him.
If Oscar was surprised to see him, he didn’t show it because he put on a fake smile. “Hi. Timothy, right?” He asked.
“Yes, Timothy.”
“Okay. You seem to be here because of me. How may I help you?” Oscar asked.
“You are right. I’m here because of you. I’m not going to beat around the bush. I will just go straight to the point. Care to tell me what is going on between you and Tiffany?” Timothy asked.
“Tiffany? Nothing of course, except that we are friends.” Oscar replied.
“What do you want from her? And off all the seniors to be friends with, why choose Tiff?” Timothy asked, getting irritated by his smug smile.
“Really? The same reason you are friends with her, that’s why I want to be friends with her too.” Oscar said.
“Don’t play jokes with me.” Timothy said, in a warning tone
“Come on, Man. You love Tiffany, and of course it is not the usual best friend love. You can hide it from anyone else, but not from me. I can see through you.” Oscar said.
Timothy was taken aback momentarily, before regaining composure. “I don’t know what you are talking about?” Timothy denied.
“Of course you don’t, because you are also in self denial of what you feel about her. I can read you, man.” Oscar said.
Timothy got weak and speechless, as he sat down beside Oscar. “Do you think anyone else knows?” He asked.
“I don’t think so. Everyone is not as meticulous as I am. I read people’s body language and can interpret their thoughts from it. The way you hugged her that day at the parking lot was not like the way a friend hugs his friend. You are Into her, and that hug was a pointer.” Oscar said.
“What do you advise I do? I can’t possibly tell her. It would ruin our friendship.” Timothy said, looking sad.
“Says who? You just have to go about it the right way.” Oscar said.
“Are you serious?” Timothy asked, his mood lightening.
“Yes. I can help you. That’s if you want me to.” Oscar said.
“I would love that. Can I ask a question?” Timothy asked.
“Yes. Go ahead.”
“I saw you and Tiffany here a few hours ago. What were you doing?” Timothy asked.
“Oh. I’m bad at Geography and begged Tiffany to help me and She agreed. She was teaching me Geography and nothing else.” Oscar explained.
“Okay.”
“I will be heading back to class. Let me know when you need my help in progressing your love for her.” Oscar said, and walked away.
Timothy sighed in frustration as he ruffled his hair with his fingers. He was confused if telling Tiffany how he feels about her was the right thing to do.
Clueless, he stood up and walked back to class.
