TIFFANY’S POV
She got home later in the day, and met Shawn watching television.
“Good evening.” She greeted.
He gave her a curt nod without turning to look at her.
“Umm…Did you come for my spelling bee competition?” She asked.
“No, I didn’t.” He replied, still not looking away from the television.
“I thought I saw you. One minute you were there, sitted in the crowd and the next minute I couldn’t find you.” Tiffany said.
“When was the last time you treated malaria?” Shawn asked, finally turning to look at her.
“I don’t know. Few months back. I rarely fall sick.” Tiffany replied, confused at his question.
“Well, you have to see a doctor and get treated for strong malaria, because you’re obviously beginning to see things.” Shawn said, before turning to the television.
“There we go again.” Tiffany said, before walking away in anger.
“Just so you know, I won the competition.” She yelled from the stairs.
“I don’t care, I promise.” Shawn yelled back at her. She stopped in her tracks and stared at him. Shrugging, she continued walking up the stairs.
She got to her room, and as she stripped off her clothes, she kept wondering what could be responsible for his cold attitude.
She was Sure she saw him in the crowd, but at the same time, it felt like he was never there. Maybe she was really seeing things and needed to treat herself for malaria.
She walked to the bathroom and ran herself a warm bath. As she got into the jacuzzi, she couldn’t help but relive the competition in her head.
She won the competition! She made herself, the school, her father and everyone associated with her proud. Speaking of people associated with her, she remembered Freya and Timothy.
She would check her phone as soon as she got out of the bathroom. They must have sent her tons of messages.
And once again, her thoughts wandered to Shawn. His attitude gave her chills and she didn’t know why.
She blocked the thoughts of him from her mind and hastened her bathing. A few minutes, she got out of the jacuzzi and dried her body with a towel before heading to the room to dress up.
After dressing up, she got on the bed and turned on her phone. Just like she expected, there were tons of messages and phone calls.
She decided to call her dad first before her friends. “Hey, Dad.” She greeted as he answered the phone.
“My princess!” He screamed dramatically.
Tiffany took the phone away from her ear and placed it back again. “Gosh, Dad! Do you intend to damage my eardrum?” Tiffany asked.
“I’m so proud of you princess. I’m sorry I did not make it, but guess what, I watched you live with my business partners.” Her father said.
“Thank you, Dad. I’m happy I made you proud.” Tiffany said, smiling at how dramatic her father can be.
“You did, princess. You needed to see the admiration on my business partners faces when they watched you spell those hard words correctly.” Her Dad went on.
“Thank you, Dad. I have to go now, bad before I go. I have a shoot for a commercial advert tomorrow at Burnaby.” Tiffany said.
“Your agency reached out to you?”
“Yes, they did. Last week.” Tiffany replied.
“Alright, Princess. Is Shawn aware?”
“Umm.. actually, I will tell him tonight.” Tiffany replied.
“You have to. He is accountable for you. Always ensure you tell him about your whereabouts.” Her father advised.
“I will, Dad. Good night. I love you. Bye!” Tiffany said before ending the call.
After she got off the phone with her Dad, she decided to call her friends on WhatsApp.
She started the call and they joined immediately.
“Tiff! Congratulations!” Freya said Timothy screamed at the same time.
“Did you guys plan that?” Tiffany asked, laughing.
“No, of course.” Freya said.
“Best friend, you were awesome!” Timothy said.
“You were more than awesome. You were extraordinary. Imagine not failing any question.” Freya exclaimed.
“Our best friend is a genius!” Timothy said.
“Thank you so much, guys.”
“You are welcome. How about we visit our favourite restaurant tomorrow after school?” Freya asked.
” Have you guys forgotten? I’m going to Burnaby tomorrow.” Tiffany said.
“Oh! That’s true. Maybe on saturday.” Freya said.
“Yes, on Saturday.” Timothy concurred.
“That’s fine by me, guys.”
“I miss you so much, Tiff. I wish I could throw my weight on you and envelop you in a hug. You are too amazing.” Freya said.
“Awww…on Saturday we will hug as much as we want.” Tiffany promised.
“Make sure you keep to your promise, please.” Timothy said.
“I will. I have to go, guys. I’m famished.” Tiffany announced.
Her friends bid her goodbye and she ended the call.
She dropped her phone on the table before heading downstairs. She met Shawn having bread, tea and omelette.
She walked into the kitchen and made herself a bowl of cereal and then carried it to the dinning to join Shawn.
“Hey.” She said casually.
“Hi.” He replied coldly, not looking up from his food.
“I wanted to tell you that I will be traveling to Burnaby for a shoot tomorrow.” Tiffany began.
“Okay.” Shawn replied.
“Just okay? You have been giving me the cold shoulders since I got Back. Did I do something wrong again?” Tiffany asked.
“You never do anything right the last time I checked.” Shawn replied.
“I beg your pardon! What do you mean by that ?” Tiffany asked, getting upset.
“I believe you are not deaf. Or, are you?” Shawn asked.
“Of course, I’m not! And you know that.” Tiffany retorted. “Anyways, I just told you to fulfill all righteousness.” Tiffany added, before facing her food.
“Do you. I honestly don’t care what you do with your life or body.” Shawn said.
“You’re unbelievable!” Tiffany said, and carried her food to the kitchen.
She angrily finished her cereal, washed the plate and left for her room.
The guts of him to talk to her anyhow. Why did he mention her body in the conversation anyways? Shawn Gold was mean. Too mean. She concluded before falling asleep.
The next morning, her alarm woke her up and she smiled, as she remembered it was the Dday.
She hurriedly got into the bathroom, freshened up and got dressed.
She packed up the essential things she will be needing even though she knew most of them, if not all, will be provided by her Agency. But being Tiffany Dion, she hated to leave things to chance.
After packing up, she carried her things downstairs. The agency were to send a car to pick her up at exactly 7:00 and she didn’t want to keep them waiting.
She was still waiting when Shawn came downstairs. “Good morning.” She greeted.
“You are set already?” Maybe it was the nature of the question that made Tiffany not notice the sarcasm in his tone until he added “You seem so excited. I guess there would be plenty of men to frolick with.”
“Excuse me?” Tiffany said angrily.
“Oh, you are quite excused.” He replied, walking into the kitchen.
“What do you mean by what you just said?” Tiffany asked, following him to the kitchen.
“I believe you are not deaf. This trip will obviously provide you with the opportunity to leverage and meet more men. I heard you love them younger and within your age range.” Shawn said, giving her a dirty look.
“You are a sadist! How dare you say that to me?” Tiffany yelled.
“I can say whatever I want to say to you.” Shawn replied.
“No, you can not..” She made to say but stopped when she heard the sound of a car’s horn. “You know what? I don’t have your time as I have an important place to be in.” She finally said before rushing out of the kitchen.
She got to the sitting room and carried her bag, before rushing outside to the car waiting for her.
“Good morning, Sir.” She greeted, as she got into the bus that had the agency’s name written on it.
“Good morning, Miss.” The driver replied, as he drove out of the estate.
As they hit the highway, Tiffany’s mind was filled with thoughts of her fight with Shawn in the kitchen.
