RACHEL’S POV
She immediately took out her phone as Shawn entered the elevator. “He is about to leave the company. Follow him.” She ordered and ended the call.
She was restless and wanted to know where Shawn was rushing off to. She decided to head to her office and wait for Max’s feedback.
It didn’t take long because a few minutes later, Max’s message came in. ” “Yo! He is at the convention hall where a spelling bee is being held. His little girlfriend or should I say fiance is a contestant.” The message read.
Rachel clenched her fists in anger. He had left his lunch and work just to go cheer up some high school little girl?
She took up the remote from the table and turned on the television. She didn’t have to search much because virtually all channels were showing the competition live.
Rachel felt a pang of jealousy tug at her heart. She was not as popular as Tiffany Dion when she was her age, even now that she is older, she is still no match for Tiffany Dion. In beauty, charisma, elegance and intelligence. The realization of that made her so mad.
And then, a few minutes later, Tiffany was declared the winner. Rachel immediately turned off the television and then sent a message to Max. “Is he still there?” She typed and then sent.
“Yes, he is. He is cheering and clapping for her.” Max’s message came in almost immediately.
Rachel smiled as a thought came to her mind. It was time to play a little wild game.
She took out a small phone from her drawer and immediately sent something to a number. She swiveled herself in the office chair as her face widened in a mischievous smile.
“Is he still there?” She sent to Max again.
“Wait…no, he just left angrily.” Max’s message came in immediately.
“I thought as much.” She murmured to herself before putting the small phone away.
A few minutes later, Max call came in. “Yo! I don’t know what happened, but the dude just left the hall angrilly.” Max said.
“I handled things.” Rachel said, her voice laced with pride.
“You did what?” Max asked, confused.
“I sent him the recent pictures.” Rachel replied.
“Wow! You are evil.” Max Said.
“Call me that one time, and watch your pathetic ass get fired!” Rachel threatened before ending the call.
Now, Shawn would see his little fiance for the whore she was and then run back to her. She smiled devilishly, as she continued swiveling in the chair.
MAX’S POV
He parked the car a few metres away from where Shawn parked and watched him enter the convention compound.
He alighted, and put on his dark sunshades before entering inside the compound too. There was a large signboard indicating that a spelling bee was being held.
Now, what in hell’s name was the rich little boy doing in a place like that?
Deciding to satisfy his curiousity, he got inside the hall too, and sat a few rows away from Shawn.
And that was when he saw her! The rich little fiance to the rich little boy. She was among the contestants of the spelling bee competition. Now, that explains why the boy had to rush off from work. He was there to cheer his fiance of course.
He immediately took out his phone to text Rachel. “Yo! He is at the convention hall where a spelling bee is being held. His little girlfriend or should I say fiance is a contestant.” He typed and then sent to Rachel.
“Is he still there?” Rachel’s message came in.
“Yes, he is. He is cheering and clapping for her.” He sent again.
There was a few minutes of silence from his phone before another message came in from Rachel again. “Is he still there?” The message read again.
What was wrong with this miss? He already answered the question yet she kept asking him. He was about replying to her, when he noticed Shawn hurrying out of the hall, his face contorted in anger.
He followed him for a few minutes so as not to rouse suspicion. He watched from a distance as Shawn got into his car and drove off at high speed.
Max immediately dialed Rachel’s number. “Yo! I don’t know what happened, but the dude just left the hall angrilly.” Max said, when Rachel picked up.
“I handled things.” Rachel said, her voice laced with pride.
“You did what?” Max asked, confused.
“I sent him the recent pictures.” She replied.
Fucking bitch!
“Wow! You are evil.” Max Said, before he could stop himself.
“Call me that one time, and watch your pathetic ass get fired!” Rachel threatened before ending the call.
“Bitch!” He cussed, as he headed for his car. She was no doubt a psychopath if she derived pleasure from hurting other people.
Soon, he would get a new and nice paying job and then give her the middle finger before quiting. But before then, he would keep enduring her excesses.
SHAWN’S POV
He hurried out of the hall, got into his car and drove off at high speed.
She was not worth his time and efforts after all. She was just a whore! She enjoyed other men’s company but still pretends to be innocent.
He felt disgusted and stupid for skipping lunch, and abandoning his work just to go and cheer her up. Damn! He even planned on taking pictures with her.
He had to stop the car at a point, and regain composure because his hands were shaking on the steering wheel.
He was never going to forgive, trust or believe anything she says. He had wanted to give her a chance but she kept blowing up the chances with her scandalous behavior.
Imagine kissing her fellow student in school, knowing full well that she was engaged and soon to be married.
He started the car again after feeling better and drove off to the company. He arrived, alighted from his car and made his way to his office.
He got inside his office and met a takeout sitting on his table with a bottle of wine. He heaved a sigh of relief at how thoughtful Rachel was.
He immediately took off his suit jacket and sat down to eat. He was hungry and angry at the same time.
Halfway through the meal, Rachel walked into the office. “Hey. You are back?” She asked cheerfully.
“Yeah, I am. Thank you for the meal, and the wine too.” Shawn said.
“Oh! It’s a pleasure. You know I always have your back.” Rachel said.
“I hope what you went for was successful?” Rachel asked.
“On the contrary, it was not. I regretted leaving my office in the first place.” Shawn replied, chewing on his drumsticks.
“Sorry about that. Some people and some things are just not worth our efforts, time, and attention.” Rachel said.
“You are right. Today’s incident just taught me that lesson. I’m never doing what I just did a few hours ago again.” Shawn said.
“I’m glad you realized that. Now, all you have to do is focus on the people and things that matter. People like me.” Rachel said.
“And what do you mean?” Shawn asked, taken aback by her words.
“Oh, nothing. Nothing at all. Just prioritize certain people. That’s all ” Rachel said, hurriedly.
“Thank you.” Shawn said, and Concentrated on his food afterwards.
