Chapter 39

Book:Blind Date With Mr Arrogant Published:2025-3-31

OSCAR’S POV
He stood at a corner, watching the three friends laugh and talk as they headed for the parking lot.
From his little interaction with them and personal study, he realized Freya was the most friendly. Tiffany and Timothy were less friendly and a bit uptight.
Unfortunately, it was Tiffany he wanted to be close to. He always had his way. In this case, he would bid his time and slowly creep his way to her heart.
TIFFANY’S POV
She had just gotten home, and was famished. She didn’t have breakfast until recess when she went to the cafeteria with her friends, all thanks to Shawn Gold.
Not wanting to dwell her thoughts on him, she hurriedly freshened up and went down to the kitchen.
This time, she was making food for just herself and her stomach. No ungrateful additional mouth.
She made herself Ramen noodles garnished with veggies, diced hotdogs and shrimps. How much she missed having it back home, at her father’s house.
After eating, she washed the pot, plates and cutleries before heading upstairs.
She got to her room, and brought out her textbooks to read. It’s been a while since she studied personally, and Mrs Campbell already threatened to remove her from the students body committee if her grades didn’t improve.
Putting on her headphones, she immersed herself in the books.
RACHEL’S POV
“Shawn, Shawn, please wait up.” She said hurrying to catch up with him.
Shawn halted reluctantly, turning to face her. “Yes?” He asked.
“Could you please give me a lift? My car is at the mechanic. Broke down this morning on my way to work.” She said, making puppy eyes.
“Fine. Get in.” He said, opening his car.
She got in happily and offered him a smile while strapping on her seat belt. “Thank you so much, Shawn.”
“Yeah. You are welcome.” He nodded curtly, starting the car.
“I don’t know, but I feel you are mad at me. I’m sorry if I did anything wrong, but please, know it’s from a place of love.” She said,
“Love?” He asked, giving her a bewildered look.
“Yes. No, I mean, Agape love. The type a sister has for her brother.” Rachel quickly said. She didn’t just try to blow her cover, did she?
“So, what plans do you have for the weekend? Why don’t we celebrate the latest deal we just closed by hanging out?” Rachel suggested.
“No, thanks. I’m occupied the whole of this week.”
“But, Shawn….” She made to say, but he cut her short. “Can you let me concentrate on driving? Please!” he scolded.
“Fine!” She replied, looking out the car window.
So much for trying to win a man’s heart!
TIFFANY’S POV
She didn’t realize what time it was until she glanced at the window and found the outside looking dark. Her room was well illuminated so she didn’t notice, adding to the music she was playing and how engrossed she was in her books.
She stood and stretched her body. That was enough reading for that day. She packed the books away, and took off her headphones.
She was hungry, and it was time to make herself dinner. She headed downstairs and met Shawn eating in the dinning.
She ignored him and walked into the kitchen. She made herself spicy peach and avocado salad. Her love for spicy foods can never change.
After eating, she washed the plates and put them back in the plate racks. After which she left the kitchen and headed for her room, not sparing Shawn a second glance.
SHAWN’S POV
She must be really pissed at him, judging from the silent treatment she gave him.
He wanted to call her and talk to her, but it seemed he was tongue tied. He watched her silently as she went up the stairs.
He needed a day or two vacation. His private penthouse in the company will be the best place to go to.
It was a unit on the top floor of the company’s building. He stays there whenever he feels lonely in his mansion or has lots of work to do that requires him working over.
He needed to go away, maybe it would help ease the tension that hung so thick between himself and Tiffany.
He reluctantly finished his meal of baked beans, hotdogs and cornbread. He washed the plates and returned them to their rack before leaving for his room.
He got to his door and glanced at Tiffany’s door. If he was going away, he had to let her know, at least. And then, he dragged his feet to her door.
“Come in.” Came the voice inside the room.
He walked in, weary of talking to her. ” I came to inform you that I will be away for two days. I have work to do, so I will be staying at my private penthouse in the company.” He said.
“Okay. I will have to visit my father, if that is the case.” She replied.
Shawn’s heart skipped a bit. No way! If she went home, her father might call his father and he would threaten him to go back home with his fiance.
“Cant you stay home alone?” He asked.
“Are you kidding me? Please, tell me you are. Because I don’t understand how you want me to stay by myself in this huge house.” Tiffany said, losing her cool.
“Fine. I’m not going anywhere.” Shawn said, raising his hands in surrender.
“And please, don’t feel too good. I’m not going to miss you or anything, I just can’t stay alone.” She added.
“I know, right? Good night.” He said, making for the door.
“I won’t pretend like you. Have a bad night, one that is plagued with scary dreams.” Tiffany said.
Shawn turned to her in horror. Did she mean what she said? The look she gave him made him leave her room hurriedly.
SHAWN’S POV
He left the house very early the next morning. He didn’t bother having breakfast. He would ask Leslie to buy him breakfast when he got to work.
He got to his office and as usual began working. A few minutes later, Rachel walked in.
“Good morning, Shawn.” She greeted.
“These days, you don’t stay in your office anymore.” He said, looking up at her.
“Answer my greeting, at least.” She said pouting.
“Morning to you, Rachel.” He said.
” I’m worried, Shawn.” She said, taking up a serious tone.
“Why?” He asked.
“I had a dream about you.” She replied.
Shawn sat up on his chair. Rachel’s dreams always came to pass. All the times she dreamt about the company closing a deal, it always Happened. “Tell me about it.” He said.
“I had a dream where that fiance of yours absconded with your wealth with another guy. In the dream, the boy was a junior in her school that she was crushing on.” Rachel said.
Shawn stared at her for some time, before bursting into laughter. “When was the last time you treated yourself for malaria, Rachel?” He asked, still laughing.
“Are you saying I’m lying or I’m sick?” Rachel asked, upset.
“None of the above. But your dream is unrealistic, and for the first time, I’m doubting your dream.” Shawn said.
“Okay. And what if the dream comes to pass?” Rachel asked.
“It won’t, please. In the absence of a meaningful discussion, I would like to get back to work.” Shawn said, returning his gaze to the paperworks on his table.
“Sure. I have work to do too.” She said, storming out of the office in anger.
