SHAWN’S POV
He stood in the garage staring after her as the cat drove out of sight. That kid had better not bashed his car. A smile tugged at his lips as he remembered her childish display. No matter how matured she tried to act, she still had that childish aspect to her.
Realizing he was running late, he got into his Rolls Royce and drove off. As he drove to work, he turned on the car’s radio.
“Last week Saturday, the 25th of August, one of Vancouver’s youngest Billionaires and finest bachelor, Shawn Gold proposed to his highschool and model girlfriend, Tiffany Dion…” He quickly changed the channel. The press and not minding their business.
As he got closer to work, he couldn’t help but fret as he didn’t know how to face his workers and most especially, Rachel. The news was everywhere and he was sure they must have all heard about it.
He drove into the company, and parked at his designated parking space before alighting.
He got inside and from the reception, his workers were already casting him curious looks no one daring to ask him questions. They know better. But their stares spoke volumes and it unnerved him.
He nodded and waved to their greetings before getting on the elevator that took him up to his office floor. He got to his office door, with the inscription “CEO” boldy engraved in gold on the door.
He typed the code on the door, and it went open, revealing his magnificent office.
He dropped his suitcase on the table, and picked the intercom to call his secretary.
“Leslie, send in my schedules for the day.” He ordered, reclining on his executive leather swivel chair.
“Coming right up, Sir.”
He dropped the intercom, and went to make himself a cup of coffee from the coffee machine at the extreme of the office.
His office door went open, and Rachel sauntered in.
“You know, it is disrespectful to walk into my office without knocking.” He said, returning to his chair.
“Oh well, good morning to you, stranger.” Rachel said, crossing her arms as she stood in front of his table.
“Stranger? I’m not aware I moved from friend to stranger.” Shawn said, sipping his coffee.
“Well, you have. The moment you proposed to a girl without your childhood friend knowing about it.”
Here she goes. “Look, Rachel, it was impromptu.”
“It was? Or you had it all schemed out and that was why you kept avoiding and lying to me.”
“Where is all of this coming from, Rachel? The last time I checked, I am not answerable to you” He said, raising his eyebrows at her.
RACHEL’S POV
She had waited patiently in her office for him to arrive that morning, and when he did, she stalled a bit to let him settle down before she went into his office.
She tried getting information from him, while keeping her anger in check. So when he said, “Where is all of this coming from, Rachel? The last time I checked, I am not answerable to you” She knew she had to take things easy.
“Shawn, But I am your friend. Imagine how I felt when I got news of your engagement from the news.” She said, going over to stand beside him by the table.
“Maybe I should have told you about it. But then, it happened and I am sorry I kept you in the dark.” He apologized.
Now that’s how to do it, Rachel. Men like it when you go all sweet and calm with them, and Shawn here was no exception, She thought as she smiled inwardly.
“It’s fine, Shawny. I forgive you, but promise not to keep such things away from me again.” She said, caressing his shoulders.
“I can’t promise I will tell you everything, but I promise to be honest with you henceforth. And please, we are no longer Ten and nine. Quit calling me Shawny.”
Oh, Shawn. Why not everything? Anyways, If you don’t tell me everything, I have my ways of getting everything I want to know about you. She thought, smiling mischievously.
“Of course we are not kids anymore, but you will always be my Shawny. Always. You remember when you used to call me your wife? And how you would promise to get me a jet. You wanted to be a pilot back then.”
SHAWN’S POV
He doesn’t know what has gotten into Rachel, but she was acting really weird.
Her subtle caress on his shoulders and now she was talking about their childhood days.
“I remember all of that, Rachel.” He gave out a small nervous laugh.
“How we used to go literally everywhere together. You always stood up for me. Oh, Shawn, you were so sweet and you still are. And some random girl doesn’t deserve you at all.” She said, with a dreamy look in her eyes.
“Ummm…Rachel, don’t you have work to do?” He asked, trying to sound polite.
“Oh, I do, of course. I will head back to work now. And hey, you must have lunch with me today.” She said, and trailed her fingers on his chest before sashaying out of the office.
He exhaled in relief as she left his office. Whatever had gotten into Rachel has to leave because this flirty woman was definitely not the Rachel he knows.
And wait, did she just mention something about some random girl not deserving him? What does she mean by that?
His thoughts were interrupted by the knock on the door. “Who is it?”
“Leslie, Sir.”
“Come in.”
RACHEL’S POV
She smiled as she sat on her swivel chair, swirling the ball pen in her hand. She had just started the journey of winning Shawn back, and she would see it to finish.
She picked up her phone and booked a table for two for herself and Shawn at an eatery close to the company called “Urban Delight.” Step one done, step two would be done during lunch.
Shawn Gold, you better watch out because I am going to sweep you off your feet. She smirked and continued swirling the pen.
TIFFANY’S POV
She got nervous as she drove close to school. She didn’t know how she was going to face the entire school, and get friends too.
“You have got this, Tiif.” She murmured, as she parked the car in her parking space.
Everyone halted to see who brought the latest Ferrari model to school. Lo, and behold, it was Tiffany Dion.
Tiffany walked towards her class, as she kept her face downwards trying to avoid the students’ stares. Murmurs followed her as she walked through the hallway.
She was about to take a turn that would lead her to class when she heated her name from behind. “Tiffany, Tiffany, wait up.” Mary said, running to catch up with her.
“What do you want?” She said, turning, as Mary held her shoulder from behind.
“Oh, nothing much. I just wanted to know if it was truly you I saw on the television.”
“And what would you make of the information?” Tiffany asked. Students were already gathering to see what would happen
“Oh, nothing. Just wanted to know if it was really you, and if it is, what you used to get a billionaire as Shawn. Is it good, or something?” Mary said and the students burst into laughter.
“You know, it baffles me how someone as old as you would always stoop so low. You irritate me, Mary.” Tiffany replied.
“Coming from someone who wants to get married to a billionaire because her father’s company is about to go bankrupt. Tell me, what is the goal? To save your father’s company and your princess lifestyle, you gold digger?” Sounds of “oh” filled the hallway, and Tiffany felt like the ground should open and swallow her.
“Coming from someone who was caught making out with her junior in junior high school. Back off, Mary.” Timothy said, coming to stand in front of Tiffany. She let out a breath in relief.
