He was about to get into his car when he heard his name. “Shawn? Shawn, wait up.” Rachel was hurrying towards him.
Not now, Rachel. Now was not the time.
“Rachel, I’m going somewhere now. Let’s talk later.” Shawn said as he got into his car and turned on the ignition.
“Can’t I go with you?” She was close to his car now.
” No, you can’t.” With that, he raised the windshield of the car and drove off.
Rachel bit her lips in annoyance as she watched the car pick up speed and disappear.
She hurriedly brought out her phone and called Max.
” Yo! What’s good?” He asked as very loud background music filtered into Rachel’s ear.
“You prick! Do you want to damage my eardrums?” Rachel yelled.
“Easy. I’m away from there now.” He said as the music sound faded.
“Better. I need you to follow him.” She said sternly.
“Who? Oh, your boyfriend?” Max asked.
“Fool! It’s him, of course.” Rachel was getting upset.
“Why are you bothered? He is probably with his rich little girl.” Max asked.
Rachel felt like strangling him at that moment.
“I see you don’t need money again. I will get someone else.” Rachel threatened.
“Yo! Wait, I was kidding. I will follow him.” Max said becoming serious.
” He just left his company in a hurry. You know how you do it. Just follow him and tell me what he is up to.” Rachel ordered before ending the car.
She will head home and wait for Max’s feedback. It had better not be what she was thinking.
SHAWN’S POV
He picked Bryan from the place where they agreed to meet, and they both headed for a popular Ring shop in town.
“So, are you going to tell me what and who this ring is for?” Bryan asked.
“Later, Man. I will tell you later.” Shawn said.
“This better be good, Man,” Bryan said.
They finally arrived at the shop and headed inside.
Meanwhile, Max had been tailing them and was parked a few yards away from them.
“Now, what the hell is this dude doing here?” He muttered.
See why he said this guy is weird and so boring. Dude does not even have a proper social life.
Well, he has to keep following his boring ass around because some lady is obsessed with him.
Max got out of the car because due to the way he packed, he could not see the name of the place they entered.
He walked closer and saw, “RIA’S RING COLLECTION,” written boldly in gold.
Max stood in confusion for some time before bursting into laughter.
Well, looks like the boring guy is not boring after all. The dude wants to buy his rich little girl a ring.
Now, he doesn’t know how to break the news to his employer but he has to do it anyway.
Looks like her boyfriend is into someone else. And even though he knew nothing about being lovey-dovey, he knows men only buy rings for ladies they fancy.
He went back to the car and waited for Shawn and his friend to come out. Convinced that they were there to buy a ring as he saw them coming out with a bag, he hurriedly dialed Rachel’s number.
She picked up on the first ring.
“What do you have for me?” She asked.
“A lot. Well, I tailed your boyfriend and his friend to a ring shop, and it seems he just might be proposing to someone soon” Max replied.
RACHEL’S POV
She almost dropped the phone from shock. “What did you just say?”
“I said, it looks like the dude is getting his little rich girlfriend a ring,” Max repeated.
“Is she there with him”? Rachel asked her heart in her mouth.
“Hell no.”
“Then how did you know he got the ring for her? Wait, how do you even know the ring is for him? Rachel asked, riled up in anger.
“I don’t know. Just a hunch.” Max said, shrugging as if she could see him.
“Now listen carefully, you are not paid to assume or have any stupid hunch. For all we know, the ring might be for his friend’s girlfriend since they went there together.”
“You think so?” Max asked.
“I know so, you fool! Now get off my phone and follow them.” Rachel ordered her anger evident in her voice.
“Yo, you don’t have to work your pretty ass up. I got this.”
“Call my ass pretty again, and watch your dumb ass get fired.” Rachel snarled before ending the call.
MAX’S POV
“Daughter of a bitch.” He cussed under his breath, as he turned on the car ignition and continued tailing Shawn’s.
He followed them for a while before Shawn dropped Bryan at the spot he picked him and they parted ways.
Max’s suspicions were confirmed when he saw that Bryan did not leave with the ring bag.
To be sure Shawn owned the bag, he tailed him to his house and watched him drive in before dialing Rachel’s number.
“Yes?” She answered rudely.
“I told ya. He dropped his friend already and he is still with the ring, which means the ring is for him.”
“Who could he have gotten a ring for?” Rachel murmured, forgetting she was still on the phone with Max.
“You say what?” Max asked.
“Mind your business, fool!”
“I will. I will. Quick one, though. Just a few days after hanging out with that girl, he suddenly goes to buy a ring. If you ask me, I think the dude wants to get himself a girl and finally get to know what a pussy tastes like after all this while. I can bet he is not a virgin.” Max blabbed.
“You are very stupid,” Rachel said and disconnected the line and began to pace.
Oh! How much she wanted to call Shawn and ask him why he got a ring and for whom.
Wishes are not horses after all, and she knows better than to do that.
She was in self-denial that the ring could be for Tiffany Dion. That brat can’t mean that much to Shawn.
With those thoughts, she kept pacing restlessly.
SHAWN’S POV
He had just gotten home when his father called.
“Dad? We saw each other a few hours ago. Why are you calling?” He answered.
“How far have you gone with the preparation, Son?” Mr Gold asked, ignoring his question.
“I just got back from a ring shop. I just hope it fits.” He grumbled.
“Good. Have you thought of a place?”
“I know of a place. I just have to book a reservation.” Shawn answered.
“Then what are you waiting for? Should I help you do that?” Mr Gold teased.
“No, Dad. like I said, I just got back from the ring shop. I will book a reservation later.”
“Better be fast about it. I will update Mr. Dion on the state of things.”
“Yeah. Your partner in crime. I will talk to you later.” Shawn ended the call and heaved a sigh of relief.
He was dreadful of the idea of living with that brat. If he could have his way, he would avoid all of these.
Well to become chairman, he has to pay the price.
