Arya’s POV
We sat in silence as we watched nature. Just like that time I was with him at the club. And for that I was grateful to Jake, he was begging for forgiveness or saying that he was a changed man.
After a while I yawned and he stared intently at me. I ignored him but when I couldn’t take it I turned it him.
“You are staring”
“I know” he smiled.
“It’s making me uncomfortable” I said.
“I am sorry and I am not” he said. I narrowed my eyes at him. “You are a beauty to behold. I looked away, my cheeks already in flames but suddenly I remembered what he did with my sister. He must have asked her out with his smooth words. I frowned. I could see my subconscious calling me a word that sounded so much like stupid.
This time the frown deepened, I felt annoyed at myself that he could get me with just words.
I scowled. I began to stand up from the mat.
“Hey you okay?” he asked standing up immediately.
“Fine” I snapped.
Jake stared at me. “Doesn’t look like it”
“Well better believe it”
He began to pack the mat and all that blanket. After he was done he looked over at me. “Come on, let’s go. I’ll take you home” he said.
I got into the car and he started. On the way I glanced at him and I was filled with pity for him. He looked sad like a little puppy. And I was filled with guilt. That wasn’t right. I can’t claim to have forgiven him but I still got angry at him.
I cleared my throat. “You hungry?”
He nodded slowly.
“Why don’t you find us somewhere to eat?”
He nodded. “Alright”
He took a detour and stopped by a restaurant he found close by. He was tile sad as we ate so I tried to lighten tings up as we ate but it wasn’t exactly working. I told him I wanted to watch a movie. When it was time for us to choose which one we would watch, I picked a comedy.
As we watched and I could see him smile at some scenes, I felt happy, I thought of the irony. Jake had come to make peace with me. I was the angry one. The hurting one. Now here I was being the omen cheering him up.
When the film credits began to go up and the lights were switched one, I could see the beautiful; smile on Jake; face. It suddenly was like the old times before he was somebody. Before he even knew he was going to be the alpha. I was once again tempted to feel bitter for what he did after, he became alpha but I shook my head, as if to clear that thought away.
No that was not right. I was here because I wanted to make peace with my past. I need it. If I and Chase were going to start on a clean slate, I should be able to clear my head.
“Arya?”
“Huh?” I chuckled.
“You’ve been staring at me for long” he said.
“Really?”
“Yes”
“Do you think it’s a good thing?” I asked.
Jake shrugged. “I have no single idea”
I nodded. I smiled. “It’s all good Jake, come one let’s get out of here”
He mirrored the look on my face and nodded.
The rode back to the house was not quiet and cool. I liked it. We were peaceful.
As soon as I saw the white sculpture of a dark horse I smiled. We were nearing the palace. Few minutes later, we were back. I quickly go down from the car before Jake could come over. I looked at him smiling.
“I had such a nice time” I said. “Thank you”
“My pleasure” Jake replied. Just before I could get into the house, Jake called me.
“Yes”
“I need to talk to you” he said.
I sighed. And there it was.
“Okay”
He cleared his throat. “You know you and I have some unspoken words between us and I don’t want to leave it unsaid” he stared at me and swallowed. As if unsure of what he wanted to say.
“Arya I know I have wronged you. Badly. Words do not justice to jowl sorry I am” he paused. His voice had become shaky. Was he going to cry?
“I am deeply sorry for hurting you. “He said. “Since you left, life has been horrible for me. I have seen no happiness with your sister”
I resisted the urge to say I told you so.
“Please I hope that you find it in your heart to forgive”
I sighed deeply. Where do I start? I opened my mouth to speak, when I saw Chamberlin ran up to me.
“Mum” I knelt and scooped him into my arms. He went on to cover my face with little kisses and that caused me to laugh. This was something Chase was to do to me. That was weird. How did my son know?
“Sweetheart are you back from the sleep over?”
“Pt. really, I came to puck more clothes: he smiled. He looked behind me. “Good evening sir” he greeted.
“Evening young man, how are you?”
“Good” he smiled. he signaled for me to drop me and I did. He dragged my dress and I looked down, then I bent to his level
Chamberlin looked at me and leaned into my ear.
“What is it? It’s ticklish” I chuckled.
“Mum’ he whispered harshly. ‘Who is that man?” he leaned away staring into my eyes. When I didn’t say anything.
He leaned in. “he doesn’t look nice” and immediately he ran away.
I was stunned. Too stunned to speak.
“What did he say?” I heard Jake ask.
I turned around and smiled. “It’s for only my ears” he raised an eyebrow. “So Jake I heard what you were saying and I have already forgiven you”
He smiled. “Really?”
“Yes really”
He moved to hug me but I moved away. “No Jake”
He smirked. “Don’t worry Arya. I will get you. You will still be mine” and I began to walk away. I wasn’t going to answer to that because my heart already belonged to someone else.
At least that was what I thought.
