Making amends.
Arya’s POV
‘Call me’
I hit the message send and dropped my phone on the table. I smiled. I wondered how Jake would take this. The poor guy would be ecstatic. I still remember the look on Mika’s face when I told her I was forgiving Jake. She couldn’t believe it.
“Do you think Chase will be comfortable with this?” She asked. I pooped a piece of grace into my mouth.
“Of course he would. He had been telling me to make peace with my pass” I said in between mouthfuls. He never said that.
Even while Mika ate, she still had that look of surprise in her eyes as she stared at me. I laughed as I remembered. Today was the day of amends. All through the day I had tried to know when Chase would be back but I was told he wouldn’t be until the New Year. So I had a lot of time to think of how to appease him.
I sat down that night and wrote him a letter. I slid it into his room. Then I spoke to Kelsi and apologized. I told her everything. Well except the part where I had decided to forgive Jake.
Well I planned to tell her during the New Year party. Or any time around then.
After I had prepared Chamberlin for a slumber party at his best friends and took him there, I went shopping for the party. It was going to be a costume party.

I got home 20 minutes later. Staring at the huge clock in the middle of my apartment made my lips spread out in a slow lazy smile. I stared at the box of Tarot cards. My smile deepened.
Quietly unboxing the dress, I noticed it was stained. I was pissed. I decide to go by my earlier costume. “All this stress for nothing” I dropped the glass of whisky and the ringing of my phone made me jump.
“Kelsi” I said. I needed no telling that she was the one.
“Where the hell are you Arya?” she yelled.
“Oh my gosh! The party” I clasped a hand over my mouth.
“Don’t make me come over there!” she yelled and I laughed. She told me that we barely had time to get there. She bade me goodbye and I ran to the bathroom. A quick dash into the bathroom and I was out. I literally jumped into my dress but took my time with the makeup. When I looked into the mirror, that slow lazy smile appeared on my lips. I grabbed my bag and put on my shoes, before leaving.
“Taxi!” I screamed as I ran. Just at the moment I was about getting to pull the door open, someone slid in through the other door. He mouthed a sorry from the window before the taxi sped off, the poorest attempt at being remorseful. Oh great, like as if that would magically bring another taxi right in front of me.
“Ugh! ” I groaned as I walked back to the bus stop.
I was thinking of a better alternative, then suddenly a taxi came out of nowhere and stopped right in front of me.
“You going or what?” the taxi driver said to me. Hmm that was fast. I literally dived into the taxi.
“Mason club” I announced the address and the taxi went off. I finally looked at my watch and it was 10:30. I had just 30 minutes to get there and I prayed the driver would step on the gas. I kept stretching my neck and hissing whenever, he had to slow down. That was either for a traffic light or traffic congestion. And that was how I got to the venue of the party. I just couldn’t believe it. It was a magnificent edifice. I remember Kelsi saying, Charlotte and her brother’s parents were old money.
Any minute now would be the countdown.
People were beginning to arrive and as they went in. suddenly I felt something heavy and cold on my shoulders and I jumped. Kelsi burst out laughing.
“I have told you to stop doing that!” I clutched my chest tight. It was a red blood bag like bag that she put on my shoulders.
“Arya you need to see your face.” she continued to laugh. When the laughter died down, I stared at her from top to bottom and gasped
“A nurse? You ended up dressing like you were going to work” I smiled.
“Can I wear these to work” she flashed me the fishnet, high heels and wigs at me.
“The irony of all these is that, these” I said pointing at her clothes “are not truly a costume for you Kelsi, they are real clothes. Kelsi you are a freaking nurse” I began to laugh.
“Well I am a nurse but I don’t get to dress like a slutty nurse to work. It has been my dream to dress like this” she pouted as she arranged her clothes to reveal more cleavage.
“I just like your bag. It’s spooky and cool at the same time” I said.
“Well I got inspired by those things you sent, you look gorgeous by the way.” she said as we made our way into the party. The tarot cards. In honesty, I was also inspired by the card. I wore a long white gown, open at the cleavage and back. Then I had made my hair into braids and wore that colorful veil.
The moment we got into the party and in between saying hi to the party hosts and a few others, I lost track of Kelsi. She was the life of a party. A social butterfly. When I went to the table to the table to grab a drink, I suddenly heard Kelsi’s voice. She was in the far end of the room, when she and I made eye contact, she blew me a kiss and I laughed. I noticed that the party was filled with Kelsi’s colleagues from work. I recognized people from the company.
As my eyes surveyed the party, I noticed everyone was having a great time. Suddenly I felt some urge to turn and when I did, I realize someone was staring at me.
