Chapter Sixty-eight: Love

Book:Arya's Second Chance Mate Published:2025-3-31

Arya’s POV
“Will you come in?” I asked Chase.
“Do you want me to come in?” he asked, and I nodded, and he smiled.
Chase had managed to help me dry my dress, and I entered one of the stalls and got dressed. He offered to take me home, and after I tried to reject, he insisted. I decided to invite him in for Coffee in the office. If we managed to go to the palace, the rumor would start spreading, and this might cause more trouble between us. I know I was the only one who thought of this because when I suggested we come to my office, he readily agreed.
“How has life been?’ he asked as he took a sip of his coffee.
“Good,” I said. It felt weird that we were sharing the same space after a while. I badly wanted to ask him if I had been forgiven, but I didn’t want to ruin the mood. Maybe I would ask later, but now all I wanted was to eat him up with my lips. He went quiet, and so did I. The silence was eating me up, and I knew I had to do something about it.
“Have you forgiven me?” I asked as I toyed with another loose strand on my dress.
Chase nodded. “I have nothing against you, Arya. I have long ago forgiven you,” he said as he watched his hands. He didn’t look at me or anything, and that was quite troubling. Well, I didn’t believe anything he said. I mean, if he had really forgiven me, why he was there and I was here? Why was he not kissing me or anything? Why did I feel like he was drawing the line or something? I looked up at him, and I wanted to go to him, but I didn’t know how he would take it.
“Do you still have those nightmares?”
Chase shook his head. I watched him, with a look like that I couldn’t tell if he was lying or seeing the truth. We went silent again.
“I want to show you something. “He said, coming closer to me. His perfume filled my head, and I couldn’t think straight. I saw an opportunity and took it. I did the most stupid thing. I leaned in, grabbed his face, and kissed him. It was a deep, hungry kiss. Just like the one he has given me the first time he ever kissed me.
When I had finished my bravery, I immediately became quiet and shy.
“What’s wrong?” he asked me as he tilted my face up and smiled.
“I have really missed you,” he said and immediately slammed his lips on mine. This led us to different positions on the chair as we struggled to take off our clothes. It felt like my clothes had imprisoned my body. I stripped down to my underwear as I straddled him. I began to dry hump. He groaned, and I could feel his bulge get bigger and bigger.
“Come on, take off your clothes.”
“Your wish is my command, baby,” he said in that deep, dirty husky voice he had whenever he stared into my eyes and his pupils had dilated.

The winds rushed to my side to say welcome as we arrived. The birds sang wholeheartedly as the wind persuaded the trees, and they danced to welcome us. I took off my shoes and ran to the shore as if to hug the sea, but it receded. I stood still, waiting for it to come to me. Like a prodigal son, it finally came back to me, kissing my feet by making them wet.
This was our 2nd date since we became official. It was at the beach.
Chase called out to me as he set the blanket down. I ran to him, clapping my hands and jumping around. Coming to this place was a dream for me, but nothing would compare to the love I have for the one who brought my here. My medicine, my pain relief… Chase.
We sat. Me leaning into him. Barefooted, as our feet were buried into the sand. We stared into the open, speaking without moving our lips. He was telling me that the sun was quite lazy today. Then I replied that the sea had quieted down, maybe because we didn’t want to be disturbed.
He told me about his nightmares, and I told him the torture I had to go through not speaking to him when he avoided me.
“You are beautiful,” he kissed me on the forehead, and I smiled.
“You make me feel beautiful,” I replied.
The wind heard our conversation and swung into action. It caressed my skin, leaving feather-like touches to heal my troubled heart. As I wiggled my toes in the sand, it felt like it had a hand on my feet and massaged them properly. To heal them for the treks I have made to work and to prepare them for the fourth coming ones. The sun still wasn’t out; maybe it was trying not to hurt us with its rays. The sea came close to us, as if trying to wash away all our life worries. Life has really been a tough one, but with Chase
As if reading my mind, Chase said.
“Babe, why don’t we take a bite now?”
I smiled. Knowing that this y man was the exact one made for me. No buts.
He opened the basket, and the highly intoxicating aroma of his specially fried chicken filled the air.
“Next time we will bring Chamberlin along, g” He said, and I nodded, smiling.

After a pleasant beach dinner with Chase, I lay in my bed, dreaming about him. He was so gentle. He was different from all the other guys I had dated. Both human and werewolf. He was loving and caring. I counted myself lucky with him. It felt like there was a deep connection between us. Like he could read my mind or something.
Before I went to bed that night, I thought about him. I wanted to give him a call, but I didn’t want to come off as Desperate, so I waited. After I finished with the bathroom and was applying my skin care products, my phone rang. I waited for a while so as not to give off the vibe that I was waiting for his call.
“Hello, baby. How is the night going?” he said.
“Hmm, well, you tell me.” I smiled as I threw the question back to me.
“Oh, you don’t want me to answer that for you,” he said. I was already imagining the look on his face. He would have this lop-sided grin whenever he wanted to say something naughty.
“Get out of my head, Chase,” I chuckled.
