Chase’s POV
I couldn’t believe as those words left her mouth. How could Arya say those things to me.
“What?” I blinked furiously like one under the sun. ” You shouldn’t say this. Take it back now!”
“And what if I say that? Huh? ” She barked.
“You don’t mean it Arya. ” I said. I moved closer to her but she backed away. ” See no matter what it is, we can get this solved. We can something about it”
She shook her head vehemently. ” Nah”
“What?”
“I Mean it’s too late!”she glared at me and didn’t cower for a moment. Like she was second guessing her thoughts.”How could you say that?” I asked. Arya looked away and she tapped het foot against the floor. ” I mean…. Like where is this coming from?”
“From me! Me! You heard it right” she spat. ” I mean you can go ahead with Mika…what ever you want to do” she squeezed her face as she said those words. ” While I will be busy with Jake”
And then Arya walked out of my office. I stared at the door as it swung close. The silence in the room not only made it obvious I was alone but the words that had been said lingered in the air.
Go back to Jake? How? Was that ever an option? That guy was a ticking time bomb. Very sinister. No! I have to stop her. I can’t let Arya make a mistake. I can’t let her go on that journey back to Jake. In the first place I don’t understand how Jake made it into our conversation.
I had followed word for word Angus’s instructions on my way back from the Drix. He had called telling me how angry Arya was. He said I could say a litany of pleas to appease her. I got ready to even grovel if need be. While we were heading home, I asked myself why I was doing this. This was past her being the cure to my curse. Then when we slept together I was elated. I mean it was like asking for a jar of water but given a fountain.
I had planned on asking her to be my Luna. To take her rightful place beside me but then Chambers interrupted. I loved that. It brought me closer to my son. But Arya began to behave strangely. For every time I tried to speak it her, she would go away. Then I caught her in that towel. It was the highlight of my week.
I felt like the moon goddess was making this easier for Me. I was in her life. I had slept with her. Who knows maybe I was in her heart.
Then her jealousy with Mika made it all obvious. The night of my birthday party, I’d wanted to go talk to her but Angus advised me against it.
And that was how she began to avoid me again. This time I didn’t even know I did. Arya just didn’t want to be in the same room with me. Then she asked for a job. Of course Angus told me. He said I should leave the company and today I decide to confront her and this is all I get?
The door to my office swung open and the boys ran in.
“We came as soon as we heard” Dean said. He and Angus and Andre had been around for awhile now.
I smacked my lips and smiled. ” You wouldn’t have stopped her guys”
“What did she say your highness?” Angus asked. Worry marred his cure features.
I shook my head quietly and went to stand in front of the window. Hands in my pocket I watched as my people worked in the quarry not far away from the company “She said she’s going back to Jake”
“What!” They all chorused.

One week later, I haven’t heard a word from Arya. She still kept up with her avoidance. Angus said she spent of her time on the phone taking to someone. This time she never let me see her. Chamberlin began to notice. I could see him go silent whenever I asked of her, while I was baby sitting.
“I don’t know” he said quietly. He bent hos head low like a dying plant. Just staring at his little feet.
I watched my 6 year old calm like an old man. He barely ate the blueberries I gave him. I was sad bit I just didn’t know what to do to make him feel better and –
“It’s like she’s another person. ” Chamberlin said interrupting me.
“Who?”
“Mum” he said. Then he turned to me. “‘Dad, is it my fault?”
I squinted. ” What your fault?”
“I mean mum. Does she behave that way because she doesn’t like me any more”
My heart broke on hearing that. Oh my.
I stretched out my hands and he hugged me. ” Come on Cham, why will you ever think that? Huh?”
When I released him, I looked into his face. His eyes were droopy. Like it had lost that thing that made it look Alive. ” Come on Cham, why will you say that? Your mum loves you so much”
“She does?”
I nodded eagerly. ” Of course she does. I mean who has always been there for you? Tell me? When you would have nightmares and all that? Who made you happy?”
“Mum” he said quietly.
“Correct. She loves you so much Cham okay?”
He nodded. ” Never you doubt that for a second okay?”
He nodded. He hugged me again and then wr sat in absolute silence. Before I could say Jake, the young lad had already slept off. I carried him and went into the house. I got to his room to find maids. Then I laid him on the bed.
Just before I got to my study, Angus ran up to me. He was Panting.
“Hey what got you in such a haste?” I asked.
“Your highness, you need to see” he said. And so he took me to the pack gate and I saw with my eyes the reason my blood began to boil.
It was Jake. He was leaning on his car with a smirk on his face as soon as he spotted me.
