Arya’s POV
The next day I woke up earlier than the usual and prepared. I called Kelsi to let her know that I was ready and left the house. To get busy and not listen to gossips from the maids, I and Kelsi took out a job in the pack garden. Working in the garden makes it easier for me to forget my plight. We still haven’t heard from the alpha and I was getting worried.
“Have you seen that thing you talked about? “Kelsi asked as we walked to the garden. I shook my head. It feels like it never happened. Like I was dreaming.
While working, the werewolf in charge, Landon was always chatty with me.
“Is that a white oak tree?” he asked examining a tree that was on the side. I nodded because there was no way, a white oak tree would be in the palace. They were not grown in the werewolf kingdom. We didn’t have the right soil to grow one.
“No your highness, it’s just a look alike to scare the rogues” I answered. Due to the fact that we could not grow the plant, we planted a look like because it kept the rogues away. The smell from the white oak tree made the skin of Vampires burn.
“Wow, I see you are knowledgeable in plants in our kingdom. What else do you have interest in?” he asked as he stared at me. This time it felt like he was watching me. Suddenly I became more shy. I bent my head a bit and replied.
“Medicine your highness” I replied. It’s my life long partner.
” now this is getting interesting” he said. ” I am a doctor/ healer, I get my knowledge from my grandfather” he said as a huge grin could be seen on his face. And that was how we began talking. I found that we had similar likes. It was one of the conversations that I had that made me feel truly happy.
” it was nice talking to you” he said smiling. At that moment my cheeks was on fire. I couldn’t believe it.
” me too your highness” I said as I tried to hide my blush. Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly stopped.
” also another thing. I think you are beautiful” and he left. My cheeks were the exact shade of red. The heir Alpha thought that I was beautiful, I thought to myself.
Later that evening as we were going home, I heard the other version of what happened from Kelsi .
” So it’s you and the alpha in waiting huh?” Kelsi said. Her question made me laugh out loud that I got extra eyes on me as others wondered what was wrong with me.
” oh come on Kelsi its nothing. I and Landon just talked” I said with a huge grin on my face.
” oh its ‘Landon’ now?” she asked and I laughed the more.
“He seems interested in me” I muttered.
“okay” she said and then went quiet. I found it weird that she was quiet.
“Spit it out” I said.
“What?”
“Start talking” I said. Kelsi muttered. ” I can’t hear you”
“Nothing really I just want you to be careful” she said. I smiled.
“I am” I hugged her. ” Thanks for caring.”
She frowned.
The next day at work was something I did not prepare for. When I got to work, I noticed that people were kind to me, unlike before. They greeted me, when they saw me in the corridor. Some of them even waved at me. I waved back, though I didn’t know who they were. It was during lunch that I saw the Landon . He walked up to me and grabbed my hands. I flinched.
” please will you walk with me” he said as nodded my head in response. I was beaming with smiles. We went to the garden and talked and had lunch. At the end of lunch, as I was walking by to the basement.
Then just like that we began spending time together more often and the time I spent with my friend Kelsi , reduced. Kelsi complained. I thought she was jealous bit I told her nothing was happening.
She wanted that I stop talking to Landon but I told her that was impossible.
It felt like she was avoiding me, when I tried to hang out with her, she always had an excuse to give. One day I tried to talk to her but she blew me off. This greatly worried me but what was I to do. I kept spending more time with Landon. I and Landon became very good friends.
After a while, I began to notice that he would meet up with me in an angry mood. When ever I tried to get him to talk, he would behave like a wall. The surprising about this whole thing was that, after our time together, he would get all better and behave like nothing ever happened. So it happened that the next two days would be his birthday. I was at crossroads on what I would get him, when I suddenly remembered that he liked books. I went out to a nearby bookshop and got him books. I wrapped them up and kept them in my locker at work. The next day I gladly gave his gift and he was very happy. I walked into my room and saw Kelsi. I saw a squishy toy of Chamberlin’s and I felt sadness engulf me.
” have you heard anything from the troops and chase?”
She shook her head.
I sighed. I flopped down on my bed, grabbing the teddy bear and hugging it closely. It smelled like Chamberlin.
Suddenly I heard a knock on the door.
“Are you expecting any one?”
I shook my head. Kelsi went and opened the door. I saw her eyes widen and I saw the reason why
” Excuse me miss Arya, you are under arrest for attempting to murder the werewolf in charge” they said.
I became dizzy and couldn’t focus, and then I fell yo the ground. The last thing I remembered was Kelsi screaming and running towards me.
Chapter 39
Joy
Arya’s POV
The first person I saw when I opened my eye was an angry looking Landon. He wasn’t looking at me, though. I used that opportunity to look around.
For starters, I didn’t know where I was or what happened last. On looking around, I saw the Walls were beautifully decorated like it was something made for the royals. The ceiling was so high and it had beautiful chandeliers. Suddenly the place was familiar. I remember seeing it once or twice. It was when I saw like 10 guards, (I lost count when I became almost dizzy) I knew I was at the palace court. And with the way, they were many guards, swarming all around me, I knew I was in trouble. I blinked for a while to find out that Landon had been staring at me. He didn’t look happy to see me, so I tried to smile but I couldn’t. He too tried to smile but his smile didn’t reach his eyes. He suddenly stood up and left.
“Come everyone she’s awake!” he threw the words behind him leaving. The guards roughly brought me to my feet.
I saw the maids of the palace. The ones who I think they liked me. They also didn’t look happy to see me. Everything was so confusing. The last thing I remember was going home after gifting Landon a book for his birthday. My head had been blank from then on. I heard someone whisper, ” I wish she had died’. I began to shake. What have I done that deserved my death.
I recalled what Jedi had said and I hated myself fit not listening. She warned me. Tears flooded my Texas I stared at them circling me like an animal they wanted to devour.
The chief matron stared at me with so much Hatred in her eyes. She just couldn’t hide it. She had never said good about me since I came here. I could sense her passive aggression.
“What do you have to say about this” The werewolf in charge asked me as his voice drew my attention. I opened my mouth and closed them. I didn’t understand what was going on.
“Speak! Who sent you!” he thundered. I shuddered at his voice. The only Time recognition dawned on me was when, I turned and saw the two guards. I remembered then saying that I was under arrest for attempt of murder of the heir Alpha. That would be Landon. My eyes lit up in horror.
“Please your highness I am innocent. I didn’t do, I have been set up” I said as tears fell from my eyes. How could I want to kill Landon when he was just about the only Friend after Kelsi stopped talking to me. Someone was behind this.
“Innocent? he brought something out of a book then explain this?” he asked me. I stared at the book like I was some idiot till I recognized it as the book I had gifted Landon. I was taking longer to speak and that book was brought to me.
“it’s the book I gave to his highness for his birthday” I replied
“Then what it is this?” he asked as he gave the guards to hand over what it was. I saw it. It was a little liquid in little slim bottle. I stared it and was about telling the Alpha, I didn’t know what was, when I hit me. That was a bottle of wolf’s bane.
In the history of Lycanthropy, it is been said that werewolves fear one thing. And it is silver. Melted silver was the wolf’s bane. Silver is about the only thing that could kill a vampire as a weapon. It is been kept away from reach because it’s dangerous nature.
“its silver” I said in a whisper.
“yes it’s silver” he barked ” what I do want to know is how did it get into that book” he asked. His voice sent shivers down my spin.
“I don’t know you’re highness” I replied in the smallest voice ever.
“Alright take her to the dungeon, her death will be tomorrow” he said and stomped off. My blood ran cold. Tomorrow, I’ll be Dead? It was then I became hysterical.
“Your highness, I am innocent! Please have mercy on me!” I wailed like a widow. They carried to the dark dungeon and threw me in. I couldn’t see anything but all I could feel wasn’t tears fall from my eyes. It was too much for me to bear. Who could have set me up. Who could want me dead. I wonder as the tears couldn’t stop falling. After I had gone on a crying spree, I slept off
I woke to the a noise. It was the guards.
“You stand up! It’s Time for you to die!” he said laughing as the other one joined him. I began my crying again.
“Please hear Me out! I didn’t do it. I’ve been set up” I cried as I looked from left and right, hoping that one of them will hear and understand.
“Arya!” Kelsi threw herself at me as they brought me out. Her eyes were bright red and swollen. The guard on my right pushed her so hard and I winced. Her head hit a stone and blood began to gush out.
They took me to the place I would be killed.
“Please I’m innocent” I begged. ” please” I tried to be free from their grip but they pushed me to the ground.
Just as they tied the rope to my neck, I head someone call out to me
“Mum! Mum!” I turned and there was my son. I couldn’t believe it. I spread nu arms wide.
“Cham!” I engulfed him in a hug abs began kissing his face. I couldn’t believe it. My son was back.
I flinched as soon the heads of the guards fell with a thud and blood gushed out.
“Mum-”
“Don’t look” I closed his eyes.
I felt a presence beside me and I slowly looked up.
“Who is responsible for this!” Chase growled.
