Chase’s POV
I awoke from my sleep with a determination to find my son. I needed to act fast. But to do that I needed help.
I sat watching my men go about their affairs that night and I felt sad. They looked tired and worn out but none of them said a word to me, to go back. I felt movement behind me and I turned. It was Angus.
“Your highness we have searched and combed through the forest, there’s no proof of Chamberlin” Angus said. “What do we do now?”
I stared at him and watched the worry splayed on his face. I nodded.
“Thank you” I said.
“Huh?”
“Angus I am grateful for having you as my beta” I said, a small smile played in his lips but that quickly vanished. “But we are yet to find your son”
I nodded. “And we will find him, trust me” I said. I tried to move my arm but I felt an excruciating pain. I winced.
“Are you okay?” Angus asked.
“Yes” I said. I sprang up from the mat despite the pain.
“I want you to call for a meeting” I said.
“Just us-”
“Everyone” I said.
“Okay” he said and walked away.

The fire from the firewood illuminated the faces of my men. I stared at them as they sat under there. Some laughing, some quiet. We had just finished a sumptuous meal of insects and wild fruits. I went the extra mile of getting the fruits myself, even though they didn’t let me.
I cleared my throat and everyone turned their attention on me.
“Evening” my voice boomed through the woods,].
“Evening your highness” they chorused.
I smiled. “I am not a man of many words but I will spare you a few” I said looking into their faces. “Firstly, thank you” I noticed their face lit up like a bulb. “I see the things you do. The sacrifices you have made. And I assure you, that will not be in vain. I want you to have a little more patience. We will soon find my son that is a promise”
“Where are we headed next your highness” one person asked.
I sighed, I needed help and I will go to the only people who were my ally. “We are heading to the Drix pack”
The Drix pack was not in our region so it took longer to get there. When I got there, my uncle was happy to see me. He asked why I didn’t come earlier. With the help of their witches, and a drop of my blood, we were able to locate where my son was. He was in the Volce pack. And so we journeyed on.

“We came here for the night!” Angus commanded. We had been marching since dawn. The road to the dwelling of the Volce pack wasn’t this far. We would get there by night fall.
“Your highness we will leave at sunrise” one on my men said and I nodded. As I stood watching the mountains and the birds flying around, I remembered how I felt yesterday. I couldn’t shake the shock of my uncle’s face the moment I told him my plans.
“Son, what do you mean that you want to take over the Vole pack? I mean they can be vicious in retaliation” he said
“I want to take them by surprise, your people have strong men which would complete our army.” I said.
“Yes I know that if we join forces, it would be mighty but I don’t think this is right” he said
“Trust me on uncle I have a purpose and of which I would achieve. Please trust me” I said smiling. He shrugged and went away. He was going back to his pack tomorrow while I and the others march on.
By night fall, we had already reached the Volce pack. They were unaware of our coming and that made it easy for us to get in. I and Angus and some of my men went to lie secretly in the alpha’s courts. We hid under tables and chairs. Waiting for an attack by morning.
I didn’t sleep a wink.

By the early hours of the morning, silver blasts began going up in the air in per my instruction. Just then the alpha and some of his men and his witch walked in.
“Do you hear that?” they asked each other. The sound was so loud, I bet even the deaf could hear.
“Your highness we are being ambushed. We decided to follow through the other way, but they are everywhere” a guard said as he tried to catch his breath. It looked like he had been running.
“Where are the others?!” Alpha Edward thundered.
“Sir they’ve been captured, they let me go to give this message to you. They want you to surrender the city and leave” he said.
“Shit! Never. I would never surrender to them so who is these people?” He asked.
“Sir it’s the.” He was rudely Interrupted when another blast hit close. It was so close that we could see the house melting. The blast was composed of one thing only. Silver.
“It’s the black moon pack” the guard said as his voice shook. From where I lay I stared at him and had pity on him. He was young and afraid.
“Your highness, you never listen, I told you there would be an attack” the witch barked.
We had targeted the army houses. That was one strong way of disarming your enemies; by first killing their fighters.
“This is a well thought out plan” she said and everyone stared at her “this was what I wanted to warn you off”
I could hear the Alpha curse under his breath. I blinked at Angus and he nodded. Immediately we burst into the room like a pent up flood. All guns were directed at the alpha of the volce pack and his guards. The witch ran off.
“Leave her” I ordered. I turned my attention to the alpha. “Where the hell is my son” I growled. I pointed a gun into his mouth and he stared at me with wide eyes.
