Alexander pov
“Do you have eyes at the back of your head, or can you simply not see?”
“What?” she asked, blinking at me as if she hadn’t heard what I just said.
My arm remained wrapped around her waist, holding her steady, while my eyes stayed locked on hers. A frown tugged at my lips as an unfamiliar sensation coursed through me.
She looked beautiful- too beautiful. Even if I disliked her, I couldn’t stop myself from admiring how she looked even if it was for just a brief second. My gaze trailed over the way her dress hugged her figure in the most alluring way, or the way she stared at me with that hooded gaze that always seemed to hold me captive.
My eyes narrowed at her flushed cheeks, and I noticed the way she panted, her body trembling as if she had just been running.
I tilted my head to the side, observing her in silence for a moment.
What was she doing here all alone?
When I arrived, Daniel informed me that he couldn’t find her and that she had gone to the restroom a while ago and never returned. The first thing I did was smack the idiot on the head. And before I even realized it, I had already run all the way here to look for her.
This was the enemy’s home, and Nico, that bastard was crazy enough to do anything to get his way. He was unpredictable, capable of striking at any moment. And now that he had probably received news about his warehouse and his men, I had no idea what he would do to her.
He might as well shoot her dead and have someone else take the blame. He wouldn’t care if it was his daughter’s engagement.
“A-Alexander,” she called out, her voice hesitant. I narrowed my eyes at her, watching as she opened her mouth to say more.
Before she could get a word out, the sound of hurried footsteps caught my attention.
“Mrs. Knight, Mrs. Knight-”
Damien’s voice rang out, but the moment his eyes landed on me, he froze. His entire body went rigid, and without thinking, he instinctively took a step back.
I tilted my head slightly, watching him with mild curiosity. Why is he so scared? I mean aside from the usual fear that came with from people being near me, he seemed
Then it hit me.
The last time Damien had been at my home for a business meeting, he had almost died during the shooting.
So that’s why he hadn’t called for any business meetings lately or why he hadn’t been trying to get me to invest again.
Not that I cared.
My expression remained cold as I studied him, my gaze flickering over his flushed face before shifting to Valentina.
Was she running from him? Was he harassing her?
Before I knew it, my eyes narrowed into a glare. Damien visibly flinched under my stare.
“M-Mr. Alexander-” he stammered.
But before he could say more, another voice cut through the air.
“Mrs. Emily, Mrs. Emily, please wait up-”
The two women froze when they saw me. I almost recognized the other woman as Damien’s new wife. I couldn’t remember her name, nor could I be bothered to, but her body trembled the moment she laid eyes on me. Meanwhile, the woman beside her seemed more intrigued than afraid. Her gaze held that particular look of lust-one I despised. It made me want to pluck out her eyes.
“M-Mr. Alexander, you’re here,” Damien’s wife stammered, her voice laced with nervousness.
I raised a brow. Just what in the world was going on here?
“Fuck, this is so embarrassing,” Valentina muttered under her breath, pressing herself closer to my chest as if trying to shield herself from the prying eyes behind her.
I stiffened slightly at the feel of her soft curves against me, her scent wrapping around my senses. Before I even realized it, my body instinctively reacted to her touch and I grew… hard.
What the actual fuck.
My gaze darkened, a frown tugging at my lips as the urge to pull away crept in. But before I could… well, you can probably guess.
“Emily, Emily. wait, we need to talk-”
Luca.
Our gazes met, and instantly, I felt a surge of murderous intent radiating from him. His fists clenched tightly, his eyes burning with nothing but hatred. Yet, as his gaze flickered from me to Valentina, I caught a glimpse of something else-hurt. The way he took in our closeness, how my arms were wrapped securely around her…
Jealousy? Without a doubt.
He thought she was Emily-the woman he believed he loved.
My gaze flickered to Damien, and though it was subtle, I didn’t miss the way his jaw tightened or how his eyes darkened at the sight of my hand wrapped around Valentina.
Now, this one was actually amusing. He didn’t even realize the woman standing before him was his wife, yet he was still jealous.
A smirk tugged at the corner of my lips as I glanced down at her in mild amusement.
This girl…
She really had a way of becoming the center of attention, didn’t she?
Well, since all eyes were already on her, I might as well give these two gentlemen a show.
A dry chuckle escaped my lips as I leaned in, reaching out to tilt her chin up with my fingers. At the same time, my other hand pulled her closer, closing the small space between us.
Her eyes widened instantly, her breath hitching as she stared at me in shock, our lips just inches apart.
“A-Alexander, what are you doing” She barely managed to get the words out before I cut her off with a slow, knowing smile.
“Dear wife, I’ve been looking everywhere for you. You know I can’t stay away from you for long,” I murmured, my smile widening as I traced my fingers along her jaw.
“What the hell…” she whispered, breathless and stunned. But before she could finish, I closed the distance, capturing her lips in a deep, possessive kiss, my eyes narrowed on both Luca and Damien.
