When did it all begin? Oh, it started when Felix slapped the kid without hesitation. The kid stood frozen in shock, unable to process what had just happened. Before anyone could react, Felix raised his hand and slapped him again.
You’d think a five-year-old wouldn’t be able to do much damage to a ten-year-old, right? Wrong. The cheek Felix struck turned bright red almost instantly, and the boy’s shock quickly transformed into tears as he began to cry.
But Felix? He sneered, his hand rising once more, ready to strike again. That’s when I snapped out of my shock and quickly pulled him away before things could escalate further.
Now, to cut a long story short, the kid’s mother wasn’t exactly pleased with what had happened, and before I knew it, the situation escalated into a ridiculous tug-of-war- both of us were yanking at each other’s hair and yelling.
At first, I was concerned about Felix, especially when the kid lunged at him too, but Felix easily tackled him to the ground and started landing punches with his little fists.
I didn’t typically condone violence, but as Felix beat the hell out of that kid, I couldn’t help but silently cheer him on.
“Let go of my hair, you crazy bitch!” The woman yelled, yanking at my hair so forcefully it stung. I had to close my eyes, but not before pulling hers back with equal force.
“No! Not until you let go of mine!” I shouted back, but she tugged harder, pulling my head back sharply. “Ow-stop pulling so hard!”
“Get off me! How dare you slap me?! My eyes! Mummy, he hit my eyes!” The bratty kid wailed. I would have laughed if it weren’t for the fact that I could feel strands of my hair being yanked out.
“Damnit, warrior, get up and fight! How could you lose to that small kid?!” She hissed under her breath, momentarily distracted, which gave me the perfect opportunity to tug her hair even harder, making sure I could feel strands of hers being pulled too.
“Hehe, looks like ‘Warrior’ isn’t really… living up to his name,” I chuckled wickedly, watching her give me a nasty glare, which by all means made me laugh even more.
“Y-you, tell that devil to leave my son alone?!” She stammered, and I rolled my eyes.
“Leave me alone first, and I will do that. Or else your little warrior will leave here with a black eye!” Everyone gasped dramatically at my words, but I couldn’t care less.
Felix was winning anyway, so to hell with them!
“Y-you wouldn’t dare!”
“Try me” I scoffed, “Felix, go for his eye-”
“Fine! Fine! Alright, you win!” She quickly said, letting go of my hair and stepping back before bolting toward her kid. But before she could push Felix off him, I moved faster, yanking the aggressive child off the crying one.
“Mummy, h-he punched me! I can’t feel my face anymore, my stomach hurts! Everywhere hurts!” the boy wailed dramatically, but I had already tuned him out. My attention was solely on Felix. I pulled him closer, checking for any scratches or red marks like the other kid had-but you know what?
Not a single mark. He looked neat and proper, as if he hadn’t just been in a fight with a ten-year-old boy.
“Mommy, are you okay?” he mouthed, his small hands smoothing my hair back into place.
I grinned and leaned down to press a kiss to his head. “Mommy is perfectly fine. You did good, kiddo. You’re so tough.”
Felix giggled and leaned into my touch, his warmth soothing me. But of course, our sweet moment was rudely interrupted when the woman stormed over, dragging her crying child behind her. She jabbed a finger at him, her face red with anger.
“Look at what your son did! Look!”
I followed her finger, glanced at the sobbing boy, and then turned back to her with a shrug. “I’ve looked. What do you want me to do? You should stop creating unnecessary drama and just leave already,” I replied, rolling my eyes.
“I will make you pay, you stupid bi-”
“Enough!!” a deep voice roared, cutting through her rant. Her husband stomped forward, roughly yanking her back toward him.
Up until now, he hadn’t uttered a single word. He had just stood there, smoking a cigarette like it was the only thing keeping him alive, casually watching the scene unfold.
For some reason, I didn’t like him at all. Not because of his lewd stare or his appearance, which screamed “wannabe thug,” but because of the way he handled his wife. The way he grabbed her so forcefully in public made my blood boil.
I didn’t miss the flicker of fear in her eyes as she glanced up at him.
“B-but didn’t you see the way-” she started to defend herself, but he silenced her with a cold glare.
“I said enough. Do not make me repeat myself again,” he hissed, his grip tightening around her arm. She winced in pain.
“L-let go of my mommy!” the boy cried fearfully, but the man’s glare silenced him, making him flinch.
Felix and I exchanged a glance, and I set him down on the ground.
“Let’s go home. I need to teach you some manners,” he hissed, giving me a once-over glance before attempting to drag the woman away.
“W-wait, please, let me go!” she pleaded, her voice trembling as she struggled to free herself from his iron grip. But before he could drag her any farther, I frowned, my body reacting before my brain could catch up. With a swift motion, I kicked the man hard, sending him crashing to the ground.
A collective gasp echoed around us as he landed with a thud, stunned with a look of disbelief.
“She said you should let her go. You’re not deaf, are you?” I said, my voice low and dangerous. But if I were to be honest, I was scared out of my mind.
Damn it! Why couldn’t I just mind my own business for once?
“You fucking bitch! How dare you!” the man yelled, snapping out of his shock as he stumbled to his feet, his hand raised to hit me.
Well, great. Looks like I was the one going home with a black eye today.
Instinctively, I closed my eyes and braced for the slap, my nails digging into my palms. But… it never came.
Instead, I heard a loud, pained yell and the sickening crack of bones breaking.
I sucked in a shaky breath, my eyes snapping open only to freeze in place.
A pair of emotionless gray eyes stared into mine with such intensity it left me utterly breathless.
Standing there was a man who made my heart pound furiously in my chest, staring at me with eyes devoid of any warmth an empty gaze yet there was a flicker of something in them, amusement?
He tilted his head slightly to the side as he held the man’s wrist in a death grip, his presence exuding raw power that made a shiver run down my spine.
“A- Alexander.” I stammered, and his eyes narrowed into a deadly gaze at me.
Fuck, we’ve been found already?!
