Alexander stood frozen, his eyes locked on Felix as the boy positioned himself protectively in front of me. The air was thick with tension, and for a moment, it felt like they were engaged in a silent staring contest. Neither of them backed down or looked away and everyone around me held their breath and watched, waiting to see what would happen.
At that moment, it was almost impossible not to notice the striking similarities between Alexander and Felix. Similar dark hair, gray eyes and the way they both carried themselves. Felix was basically the mini Alexander, both radiating a natural air of authority, though Felix was only still a child compared to his father.
He lacked the sheer dominance and power that Alexander exuded. Nevertheless, the kid still stood his ground, he didn’t flinch not once before the imposing figure of the man before him.
I raised a brow in confusion at the scene, wondering what on earth was going on. I couldn’t understand how everything spiraled out of control in the blink of an eye. One moment, I was kissing Alexander, and the next, he was fuming as though I’d committed some sort of national offense.
Pfft. Why was he so furious over a kiss? It wasn’t like we had sex or anything scandalous in front of everyone.
Wait, sex? Ah, that reminded me.
The corner of my lips tilted into a smirk as a thought crossed my mind. Now that Alexander was back, we’d be sharing a room tonight as husband and wife. A room alone with a man like him? My gaze wandered over his figure shamelessly as I rubbed my chin in thought.
How was sex with Alexander? I had no memories of our time together, so I didn’t know if he was the type of man who enjoyed hardcore sex, like BDSM, or if he preferred something more conventional. But one look at him, he seemed like the kind of man who might enjoy whips and blindfolds in the bedroom. Did he like being called nicknames during sex, or was he interested in something else?
Hmmm, too many things to find out tonight…
My face flushed a deep shade of red as my mind drifted to sinful thoughts. Thoughts that made my body heat up.
Alexander seemed to notice my lustful gaze, his eyes snapping from Felix to me with a sharp glare. His lips curled into a frown when his eyes met mine, and I couldn’t help but widen my smirk, sending him a playful wink in response.
This seemed to take him by suprise and he groaned, rubbing the bridge of his nose in frustration.
“This is ridiculous,” he muttered under his breath, his gaze shifting away from me. He shot one final look at Felix before speaking, his voice strained as though he was holding back his anger, “Sebastian, Aiden-my office, now.”
“Alexander” I tried to say something, but he blatantly ignored me, striding into the mansion and passing by without so much as a second glance.
Everyone instantly breathed a sigh of relief, the tension in the air dissipating as they returned to their posts with straightened, almost rehearsed postures. Sebastian gave me a thumbs-up paired with a cheeky smile as he passed, while Aiden, whom I assumed was the other man, offered me a quick bow, his gaze lingering on me for just a moment before following Alexander.
Before I could fully process what had just happened, Felix’s small arms wrapped tightly around me in a warm hug. Glancing down, I was met with his innocent, shining eyes and a radiant smile that instantly brought a giggle to my lips.
“You okay, kiddo?” I asked, crouching to his level. He nodded enthusiastically, his grin as bright as ever.
“Was I the only one who noticed your dad doesn’t like me?” I murmured more to myself, brushing a strand of hair behind his ear. “Did we have a good relationship before? I can’t seem to remember, but it feels like he despises my existence” I asked, though not expecting any kind of answer from the little boy.
But to my utter surprise, Felix turned toward Martha, who had been quietly observing the entire scene from behind me. Her face remained composed, but I caught the faintest glimmer of amusement in her eyes.
Felix stretched out his tiny hands toward her, and with a slight bow, Martha retrieved a small notepad and pen from the maid behind her, placing them in Felix’s waiting hands. He quickly began to scribble something, his expression serious and focused.
When he was done, Felix proudly turned the note around for me to see, and my eyes widened in disbelief. There was no way a five-year-old wrote this! The handwriting was neat and clear, the kind you’d expect from a meticulous adult rather than a child.
‘Daddy loves Mommy. Don’t mind him, he didn’t mean whatever he said. In fact, Daddy misses Mommy and liked the kiss so much that he can’t express his feelings. He’s just shy, so don’t pay attention to him next time.’
I couldn’t help but laugh at the words. A genuine, unrestrained laugh that left my stomach fluttering.
“He liked it, right?!” I asked, grinning as I held the note up, my tone teasing as I looked at Felix.
He nodded eagerly, his grin widening to match mine.
“Well then,” I said, ruffling his hair affectionately, “if Daddy liked it, I’ll have to remind him of that later tonight.” I winked, making Felix giggle in delight.
I had to do it tonight. If my relationship with Alexander was becoming rocky, then sharing a bed with him could change everything. Why was I so sure? Because sex always made everything better.
