Chapter 139

Jason.
After they sewed Eve’s uterus and cleaned her up, she was transferred to a normal ward.
And I went to see our babies in the incubator.
The doctor said they’ll have to be monitored for two weeks but for now, nothing was wrong and that it was only because they were born two weeks earlier than the scheduled time.
I smiled as I watched my kids from the glass mirror with an overwhelming happiness in my heart.
I didn’t get to carry them yet, I wanted to wait for Eve to wake up before carrying them.
It was definitely not because I thought I might drop them or hold them tighter than I should.
“You’re now a father.” I heard my mom say behind me and I smiled.
I never thought having children would give me so much pride and joy but looking at them through the glasses made me realise that I was now a father, a father of two strong boys. And I promise to take care of them with all that I have.
“Why didn’t you tell Eve that they’re twins?” She asked and I chuckled.
I still remember when I found out that we were not just having a boy but we were having two boys.
I wasn’t sure at first but after Max followed Eve for the third check up, that’s when we were told about the development.
I was excited ofcourse, I couldn’t hold my excitement, I was going to break the news to Eve but Eve just wanted the kids to be healthy so I decided to play along for a while.
#Flashback.
“So how did it go?” I asked Max who sat down in the living room with his legs crossed.
“How did what go?” Max asked and I scoffed.
“Don’t play ignorant with me.” I said with an eye roll.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Max lied and I shook my head.
Oh! This guy is so annoying.
“Eve’s checkup, what’s the gender?” I asked and he chuckled.
“Oh that?” He feigned ignorance and I almost punched him in the gut.
I wouldn’t do that though.
Eve will skin me alive especially as she’s pregnant and all.
“Well, your babies are healthy.” Max said and I raised my brows.
“Babies?” I asked, unsure of what I heard.
“Yeah, babies.” Max repeated carefully but quietly so Eve, who was acting like Chef Bobby Flay in the kitchen, wouldn’t hear.
“We’re having twins?” I repeated excitedly and Max squealed.
“I’m going to be a godfather of two.” Max said and I chuckled.
“I’m going to be a father of two.” I said with a smirk and he huffed.
“Whatever.” He mumbled knowing I won the small playful argument.
I smiled knowing that my hypothesis was right.
When I felt our baby kick, I could have sworn that I felt two kicks but Eve said that our baby was a lively baby and was probably kicking with two hands which sounded weird but I didn’t argue with her because arguing with pregnant Eve is the worst thing I would ever do.
“But how’s that possible?” I asked and Max explained how.
“The doctor said the second baby boy is hiding behind the first.” Max explained and I raised my brows again.
“By saying second baby boy, you’re implying that there’s a first baby boy right?”
“So that means we’re having two boys?”
“Oh my goodness” I said happily.
“Now, I won’t be the only guy in this house and I’ll teach them how to play rugby or football.” I said excitedly and Max rolled his eyes.
“Isn’t rugby and football the same thing?” Max asked and I shook my head.
“No, it’s not.” I said.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” Max rolled his eyes at my squeals.
“So the second baby was hiding behind his older brother?” I asked after a while for more info and he nodded.
Ugh! I should have gone with Eve to the hospital instead of attending that stupid press conference and missing this great news.
“Normally, twins stay side by side so she thought it was simply a very big baby and that with the size of the baby, Eve might have to go through caesarean section delivery but after this check up, she discovered that it wasn’t just one big baby boy but two babies instead.” Max explained and I nodded in understanding.
“Did you tell Eve?” I asked and he shook his head.
“She said she just wants the baby to be healthy and all.” Max said and I sighed.
“What if she eats too little for two babies?”
“I mean this means that she’ll have to be eating for three now and not two.” I said and Max scoffed.
“She looks like she’s eating for seventy people.” Max joked and I laughed.
“Don’t let her hear that.” I said amidst my laughter.
“Hear what?” Eve said coming out of the kitchen sweating profusely.
“Nothing.” Max said immediately.
She looked at me expecting an answer but I looked away instead.
She hissed and shook her head before going back into the kitchen.
“Do you think she heard us?” I asked and Max shook his head.
“I doubt it.” Max mumbled.
#Flashback ends.
“Jason!!” Mom whisper-yelled beside me, jolting me out of my reverie.
“What are you thinking about?” She asked frowning intently.
“Nothing.” I mumbled and she hissed.
“Let’s go, Eve is awake.” She said and I nodded happily.
I followed her to the normal ward where Eve was now in.
All these while, we’ve been going to the hospital for sad reasons like Eve getting hurt or when I got into an accident, I’m glad we finally have a happy reason to be here.
“Jason!” Eve said but I know she intended on yelling but she couldn’t because she didn’t have much strength yet.
“Why didn’t you tell me that we were having twins?” She managed to yell and I quickly went to pull her into a hug.
“It doesn’t matter anymore, as long as they’re healthy.” I said and she smiled and nodded in my arms.
“Can I see them?” She asked after we disengaged from the hug.
“They’ll be brought to you soon so you can breastfeed them.” The doctor who was entering the room said.
“Congratulations, Mr Coleman.” She said to me and I nodded in acknowledgement with a smile on my face.
I brought out my phone and checked the News and that was what was trending.
“Jason’s Tech now has two heirs?”
“Eve Coleman gives birth to two male children.”
“Jason corporation stock price rises.”
News like that were already trending and even making headlines.
Ugh! Everybody’s a reporter these days. As long as you have a phone, you’re a reporter.
They’ve already shared the news in less than two hours. So impressive.
