Chapter 127

Book:The Virgin Wife Published:2025-3-31

Eve.
A few days to Max’s wedding.
Soon, I will be entering my third trimester and I was going for a check up today.
Today’s checkup is to determine the gender of my baby and although I can’t wait, I just want my baby to be very healthy, the gender doesn’t really matter.
Max would be the one escorting me since Jason has been busy with press conferences and work.
And also I suggested that I bake Max’s wedding cake but he disagreed vehemently because my stomach is already protruding.
I’m still very angry about that but Jason agreed to let me bake a few things today so Max and I want to rush to the hospital for the check up so that I can get back in time to start baking all the things I’ve been wanting to do.
I know the doctor said I shouldn’t do anything straining but I’ve been itching to do something all this while than just sit at home.
Jason wouldn’t allow me to work for Ethan anymore and according to Max, Ethan’s cafe has grown even larger and he has more than one employee now.
Mom has been asking me what I would like to do but for now, I really don’t know.
I want to bake but I don’t want to have my own store yet.
I prefer working under someone else instead of shouldering all that stress.
“Hey!” Max yelled, jolting me out of my thoughts.
“What the-” I mumbled but stopped myself from mumbling a curse word because I’ve been trying to limit the bad words I say because of my baby.
During my last check up, the doctor said that babies can hear whatever we’re saying and I wouldn’t want my baby to grow accustomed to a load of-
Hahaha.
You know..
I got down from the car with the help of Max who was already out and had stretched his hands to help me out of the car.
“Let’s go for the check up and get this over with so you can bake your cakes and I can have a little time with Ethan.” Max said and I rolled my eyes.
“Jason has been busy too, you know.”
“I also want some time with him as well.” I huffed and Max rolled his eyes back.
“You have a special time with Jason everyday.” Max scoffed and I shrugged in response.
Special time my foot!
He barely has time for me now that he’s walking around on his feet. When he was in a wheelchair, he had my time. That sounded mean but I don’t mean it that way. I’m very glad he’s not stuck in a wheelchair and he can do whatever he wants.
I sighed heavily as we entered the OB-GYN hospital.
We waited until it was time for my appointment and once my name was called, Max and I entered the doctor’s office.
“Welcome, Mrs Coleman.” The doctor said, flashing me her best smile.
She’s always so professional.
I really feel relaxed visiting here all the time.
“How are you feeling?” She asked and I smiled.
“Good, just a bit of cramps sometimes.” I said and she nodded in response.
“Oh, that’s Braxton Hicks.” She said and I raised my brows and so did Max who was now sitting down beside me.
“Braxton Hicks are..” I tuned out from what she was saying because it sounded familiar and I’m sure it’s not something bad since she’s being calm about it.
“Yeah.” I mumbled at the end of her long speech and I’m sure she could tell that I wasn’t listening to all that she had to say.
“Okay, why don’t you lie down on that bed over there so we can check out your baby.” She suggested with a professional smile as usual and I nodded and got up from my chair carefully.
I walked towards the bed and pulled my maternity gown up, Max looked away since my privacy was kinda getting exposed but I really didn’t mind after all, he’s not attracted to me or women in general.
She poured that cold gel on my stomach as usual and used some kind of instrument that I’m still yet to know the name of.
“So your baby is in a perfect condition.” She began and I looked at the screen as she explained some other things like when she showed me my baby’s hands and feet and even though they were really small, I was kinda feeling emotional knowing that in a few months, I could see my bundle of joy.
“So are you ready to know the gender of your baby?” She asked and I shook my head in response.
“Why?” She asked and I shrugged.
“As long as the baby is healthy, I don’t really care what gender it is.” I said with a shrug and she laughed.
She cleaned the gel off my stomach and I pulled down my gown and went back to sit on the chair from before.
“I’ve prescribed more drugs that would be healthy for you and some vitamins, so you can grab them from the pharmacy outside.” The doctor said and I nodded in response.
“I can tell your friend here the gender of your baby if you want.” She said once we were about to leave the office and Max sat down eagerly.
“I wanna know, I don’t know why she doesn’t want to know.”
“I want to know what gender my godchild is.” Max said excitedly and I rolled my eyes and left the office.
A few minutes later, he came out of the office with a wide smile on his face.
“Jason is so gonna be excited about it.” Max said happily and I shrugged in response.
I wonder whose best friend he is, mine or Jason’s.
It’s hard to say.
We walked to the pharmacy and got the drugs prescribed before going back to the car park where jade was waiting for us.
The news was on and he was listening to another press conference that Jason was hosting and I huffed in annoyance.
“Turn it off.” I said in annoyance and he did as he was told.
He should be spending time with his family instead of hosting some stupid press conference about a girl that’s already in jail.
For God sake!
Jade drove us home and once we got home, I quickly changed into something more fit for baking.
I might be pregnant but I’m not lazy.
Okay, maybe I am lazy sometimes.
But the thought of baking strawberry shortcake, rainbow cheesecake or chocolate cookies just excites me.
