Eve.
We all sat down in the ward watching the news and eating some watermelons.
Everyone was glad that Jason was conscious now and even the bandages were removed from his body.
Only his legs were still bandaged and with casts. He was advised not to move around yet even though he was given a wheelchair.
The doctor said that it would be best for him to have full bed rest for about a week before he’ll be allowed to use the wheelchair to go anywhere.
As we watched the breaking news, we received news that Alice was apprehended by the police.
And just like I predicted, she was going to stow away in the Philippines.
Why do they always go there anyways?
Real life or movies alike.
I sighed heavily as Mom switched off the television in annoyance.
“I never liked that girl.” She huffed in annoyance.
“Me neither.” Grandma Nini agreed with her.
“I’m so glad you came into our lives Eve, I would have gotten a heart attack if Jason chose to marry that criminal instead.” Mom said and shot Jason a look.
He smiled awkwardly and I couldn’t help but laugh.
We heard a knock on the door revealing Max and Ethan.
“Good morning.” Ethan said with a wide smile.
He’s so happy that Max finally agreed to marry him.
I didn’t get to tell anyone that Jason proposed to me yesterday because things were hectic and we were all tired. After all, it was late in the night when we came to the hospital.
“Good morning Max.” I said tucking my hair behind my hair so he could see the ring on my finger.
“No way!” He screamed and walked towards me.
“Yes way.” I smirked.
“He finally did it!” Max yelled happily as he jumped up and down.
“Jason, you’re the man!” Max said blowing a kiss to Jason who chuckled loudly.
“Congrats to you both.” Ethan said smiling and I nodded in response.
“Oh my goodness, Eve, why didn’t you tell us?” Mom said, coming to give me a hug.
“Congratulations Eve.” Grandma Nini said, blowing me a kiss too.
I was grinning from ear to ear in joy.
“How do you feel?” Max asked as soon as the topic changed and he sat down beside me on the sofa and I scoffed.
“Am I supposed to feel something?” I asked with raised brows and he laughed.
“Yes, you’re supposed to feel different.”
“This means you’re no longer single, you know.” Max said and I laughed.
“You do know that I’m not single, I’m married and pregnant with my first child so why should I feel different?” I said still laughing and he mouthed an ohh.
“Whatever, it doesn’t matter.” He said smiling.
“Did you see the news?” Ethan was the one that asked and Jason who the question was directed to nodded in response.
“Are you okay?’ he asked and Jason chuckled.
“Why wouldn’t I be okay?”
“I was going to give her a chance to redeem herself but she went and blew her chance so yes I’m okay!” Jason said and I smiled.
I’m proud of my man!
Soon, everyone was lost in their own individual conversations.
Jason and Ethan.
Mom and grandma Nini.
They were all talking to each other about different things respectively.
“Max.” I whispered to Max who was by my side and was scrolling through his phone.
“Huh.” He hummed in response.
“Max..” I whispered even louder and then he turned to face me.
“What’s wrong?”
“Are you hungry?” Max asked and I rolled my eyes.
I’m not always hungry.
“No.” I frowned.
“Then what’s it?” He asked, raising his brows.
“Let’s Go To The Police Station.” I said at once and he shot me a look.
“What gibberish did you just say?” He asked as he eyed me suspiciously.
“Let’s go to the police station.” I whispered, putting emphasis on each word.
“Why the hell would we go there?” He asked and I put my finger on my lips as a way of telling him to shush.
“Don’t let them hear you.” I warned and he rolled his eyes.
“Why do you want to go there?” He asked and I sighed heavily.
“I want to see Alice.” I said quietly.
“Why?” Max asked, clearly confused.
“I want to talk some sense into her.” I said truthfully.
“Is that necessary?” Max asked and I nodded immediately.
“Let’s go huh.” I said making a puppy face and he eventually gave in.
“We’re going to get some food.” Max said loud enough so everyone could hear him.
“Okay.” Mom said.
“Be safe.” Ethan said in concern.
“Can you get some food on your way back?” Jason asked politely.
“Hospital food tastes like crap.” He said.
“I agree with you.” Grandma Nini agreed with him.
“You didn’t even eat it.” Jason countered.
“Doesn’t matter, I have the experience, I’ve been in a hospital before.” Grandma Nini said.
“Why do those two always argue?” I thought as Max and I left the room and took the elevator downstairs.
We came out of the hospital and boarded a bus to the police station.
Luckily, we were in time to meet them because they were about to send Alice to jail.
According to the news, her trial will take place in a week’s time.
“Can I talk to her for just a moment?” I asked detective Dave whom I recognize.
“Why?” She asked and I sighed heavily.
“I want to talk to her, you can put an officer to watch us or you can watch us yourself.”
“There are some things I want to ask and say to her.” I said and she agreed.
“Thankyou.” I said to her,
And then she led Max and I to her office I assume since all her pictures are there.
Max and I sat down for a while before Alice was brought in.
She looked haggard and nothing close to how she used to look before.
I sighed heavily as I watched her sit down on the chair.
“Save your sympathy.” She said with contempt and I scoffed.
“You don’t think I’m here to comfort you, do you?” I said with a smirk and she rolled her eyes.
“Just get to the point.” She huffed and I smiled.
“Do you know the saying – hell hath no fury than a woman scorned?” I began and she raised her brows.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” She asked, confused.
“I’m saying that it doesn’t just apply to men but also to women too.” I said before getting up from where I sat and slamming my hands on the table startling both Alice, Max and the detective Dave who was watching the scene unfold.
“Don’t you think that women are suffering in the world already? Why add to it?” I asked.
