Eve.
Jason and I were on our way to Ethan’s apartment from the park.
I must admit, it does feel good to be outside after a long while of staying inside the house.
We soon arrived at Max’s apartment and went upstairs taking the elevator.
Ding dong ding.
We rang the doorbell and Max was the one who opened the door.
“What are you guys doing here?” Max seemed surprised to see us.
“We came to say hello, since you’re always coming to see me, I thought about returning the favour.” I said and he laughed as he let us in.
“Favour my ass.” He said and Jason smacked him.
“The baby can hear you know.” Jason said and Max gave him an eye roll before sitting down on the couch.
“Where is Ethan?” I asked, seeing as there was no sign of him at home.
“Probably at the cafe.” Max said with a shrug.
“What do you mean probably?” I furrowed my brows.
“I..” Max was about to reply when the sound of Jason’s phone ringing interrupted him.
“I have to pick this.” Jason said apologetically before disappearing to pick the call up.
He came back moments later to apologise that he had to leave but I could stay with Max and he would come back to get me.
He emphasised on how Max shouldn’t keep the doors locked and be cautious about whoever was knocking at the door so we wouldn’t open the door to a stranger.
He almost came up with a secret code we would know when he comes to get me but Max warned him not to or he’ll snap.
Jason soon left and Max and I were left alone in the house.
“Hungry?” Max asked and I shook my head.
“Not hungry but I could snack on something.” I said and he giggled before going to the kitchen and coming back with chips, beer and fruit juice.
The fruit juice was for me while the beer was for him.
“I miss those times when we used to eat like this.” He said and I chuckled.
“I miss it too.” I said truthfully.
“We’ll be able to do it in a few months though.” He said with a smirk and I laughed.
Then a thought crossed my mind and I asked immediately.
“Are you having issues with Ethan again?” I asked and he laughed.
“You say that like we have issues every time.” He said still laughing and I smiled.
“Don’t try to avoid the question.” I said sternly.
“Fine!” He groaned and ran his hands through his hair.
“What’s wrong?” I asked and he smiled.
“I mean your relationship is good enough.” I said and he chuckled.
“I know, right now, my relationship with Ethan is the kind of relationship where I feel like the tiredness of my day gets washed off just by hugging him once even if he doesn’t make my heart flutter every second.” He said and I laughed.
Such a romanticist.
“Well, my first class shower is equipped with anion, vitamins and sterilisation system which is enough to wash off the tiredness of my day.” I teased with a fake British accent and he laughed.
“Yeah right, flaunt that your husband is a wealthy man.” He said playing along.
We both laughed and I asked that question again but in a serious tone.
“What’s wrong really?” I asked.
“I just want a better proposal. That one was cliche and unexpected.”
“I loved it but I want something grand.” He said and I laughed.
“You say this like you know alot about proposals.” I said and he smirked.
“I may not know about marriage proposals but I know the drill on how guys ask girls out.” He said confidently.
“Only girls?” I asked and he smirked.
“I can tell you how guys have asked me out, if you want.” He said.
“Okay, go on then.” I urged him.
“Really?” He asked, feeling good.
“Yes.” I said again.
“Alright, brace yourselves for Max’s special.” Max said getting up and standing in the centre like he was in the spotlight.
I clapped and laughed.
“Are you married?, Do you have a boyfriend?, We’re good then.” Max said.
“What’s that supposed to be?” I said and started laughing loudly.
“You’re the one that asked me to tell you.” Max pouted and I smiled.
“It’s not that bad, so what did you say?” I asked.
“I said no, he was into shamanism.” He said, making me laugh even louder.
“A shaman asked you out?, Cool.” I chuckled.
“So what’s the second one?” I asked.
“Let me be your honorary fighter.” Max said.
“Are you about to put off a fire?” I said laughing out louder again and he paused with a wide smile on his face.
“Is that all?” I asked since he didn’t say anything.
“Oh there’s more.” Max said.
“It’s not a crime to fall in love.” Max said.
“Oh, I know that line, it’s from a movie I know.” I said.
“Yup, it’s a line from a movie alright.” Max said laughing.
“So how did Ethan ask you out?” I asked and he smiled.
“Did he say something like my love for you is like a black card, it has no limit.” I asked teasingly.
Max laughed so hard that he fell to the floor.
“That’s not romantic at all, not only does it sound like you’re trying to flaunt your money, but it also sounds cringy and petty.” Max said amidst his laughter.
“If someone asks me out like that, I’ll hit them with my purse.” Max said, smiling now.
“But seriously, how did he ask you out?” I asked curiously.
“That’s very simple.” Max said as he stopped laughing and sat on the couch back.
“Do tell.” I said sitting down properly.
I listened with rapt attention. I knew Ethan is a smarter man and if he could snag Max who is not only picky but pretty then he’s got a game.
Well, Ethan is handsome too but a handsome man with word game and punchlines.
“He approached me with his sixth sense.” Max began.
“Sixth sense?” I asked.
“Yes, for instance, In a mall and in the perfume section and there’s someone that you want to approach, you have to come up with a perfect line that will sell you as an intelligent person.” He said to me as I listened with rapt attention.
“Now Eve, pretend you’re in the mall and I’ll pretend that I want to talk to you.” Max said.
“Okay.” I said quietly..
Max chuckled.
“Now, you’re a lady checking out a couple of perfumes on the racket and I approached you but I won’t go directly to you.” He said and I raised my brows to ask why.
“I’ll simply check out some perfumes there and you’ll be the one that will even talk to me first.” He said and I laughed.
“Impossible.” I said and he laughed.
“Okay, ask me if I’m buying perfume.” Max said.
“Are you here to buy perfumes?” I asked in the fake accent.
“No, stupid, that’s a ladies perfume section, of course I’m there to buy perfume, you’re supposed to ask who I’m buying the perfume for.” Max snapped.
“Sorry, let’s go again.” I said.
“Alright, now I’m in the ladies’ perfume section, action.” Max said and giggled.
“Who are you getting the perfume for?, She must be really lucky.” I said in a fake accent again.
“Yeah, it’s my little sister’s birthday and I wanted to get her something special.” Max said playing the part.
“She’ll be glad to receive that.” I said with an accent.
“Then you take a step or two closer and look at the perfume you’ve picked out and then at her.” Max explained to me.
“You know they say that the true beauty of a perfume lies in the fact it can’t be seen.” Max said, acting the part.
“What do you mean?” I asked still with a fake accent.
“Scent is the one and only beautiful thing that can be felt even with your eyes closed.” Max said, still acting the part.
“What I’m trying to say is that you’re like a perfume, I could feel your presence even when I was steps away.” Max said and I blushed.
“Wow.” I said, applauding max.
“So that’s how Ethan asked you out?, In a perfume section?” I asked and he looked so done.
“Sometimes, you are so dumb.” He mumbled but I heard him clearly so I smacked him.
Ouch! He winced in pain.
“What I’m explaining is how to use your sixth sense, not how Ethan asked me out.” He grumbled and I laughed.
“Okay.” I said smiling.
“I’ll use these to ask Jason out later on.” I said and he laughed.
“You do know that you’re already married.” He said and I shrugged.
“Doesn’t matter.” I said and he smiled.
“Dream on.” He mumbled and I hissed.
“At Least I have a dream.” I said and he laughed.
“If you have a dream, don’t wake up.” Max said laughing.
“Don’t give up on your dreams, keep sleeping.” Max said and started laughing again.
“You’re crazy.” I said joining him to laugh.
“If tomorrow isn’t the due date then today isn’t the do date, keep procrastinating.” Max said again laughing.
“When nothing goes right, go left.” I said joining Max in the diss.
“Behind your smile, there’s a tooth.” Max said.
We both looked at each other and erupted in laughter.
“Nice one Max.” I said as I laughed.
“I’m glad I have you.” Max said.
“To find a true friend is like finding a treasure.” I said smiling.
And Max nodded and smiled.
“That was a very nice thing to say Eve.” Max said after a while and I couldn’t agree more.
