Chapter 84

Jason..
We took the elevator and went straight to the parking lot only to meet grandma Nini already standing there and waiting for us.
“I almost thought this wasn’t your car anymore.” She said the moment we got there.
“Why didn’t you just wait for us?” I rolled my eyes.
“What’s the use?” She scoffed and I sighed deeply.
“We could have gone together” I mumbled but not loud enough for her to hear me. I don’t have the strength for a lecture tonight. We both got into the car alongside jade who ignited the engine and began to drive out of the hospital parking lot.
The ride home was a quiet one.
A Lot of things were on my mind but It wasn’t something I could say.
No one said anything.
I mean there is nothing to say anyways.
What could we possibly say?
Would we try to console each other? That’s just absurd because no amount of consolation can make me better right now.
When we arrived, Grandma Nini disappeared into her room while Jade escorted me upstairs to mine.
I looked back confused as to why he was following but he simply smirked in response.
“I hope you’re not trying to do something as stupid as guard my door throughout the night.” I said as he followed me to the room.
“Of Course not, why would I act as your bodyguard when there are many rooms in this mansion?” Jade joked and i managed a small smile.
“Good.” I mumbled.
“I’m only following you here to be sure that you won’t go back to the hospital on your own.” He said and I nodded since that was very logical.
“Goodnight.” I said and entered the room.
“I can sing you a lullaby if you want.” I heard him say and I smiled.
He remains a weirdo until the very end.
I stripped off the clothes I was putting on and picked out my pyjamas before going to take a shower. After I was done, I wore my night wear and went to lay on the bed.
As I laid on the bed with my eyes on the ceiling, I couldn’t help but wonder what it is that Eve could possibly be thinking about.
What do coma patients think about?
What’s it like being in a coma?
Is it like a long deep slumber or more like a passage to dream land or a trancelike state?
I couldn’t help but wonder.
I just hope that if Eve is in dreamland, she would have a nice dream but not too nice so she doesn’t choose to stay there for long.
Just good enough that she doesn’t have to worry about anything in the real world.
My eyes were closing and I was falling into oblivion.
I was dozing off to my own Dreamland.
I don’t know when I fell asleep but I did.
And I had a dream.
In the dream, Eve had woken up and we had a fight. We fought over the amount of ice cream and pickles she insisted on having due to her pregnancy hormones. I wondered how one could bear to eat pickles with ice cream together but the look on her face told me that she was enjoying every bit of it and I wasn’t ready to stop her but she insisted on having a lot and I had no choice but to stop her.
She threw a big tantrum and started crying and I apologised to her.
In the dream, I felt content.
It was your typical cliche dream but to me, it was my everything because she was awake.
I could tell it was just a dream but it really meant alot to me.
Ring ring ring..
The sound of my alarm woke me up from my very amazing dream.
I groaned as I got up from bed and yawned.
I checked the time and my eyes widened in shock, it was already past eight.
At that moment, I remembered that Eve was still in the hospital and unconscious, so I quickly ran to the bathroom to take my bath.
I took my bath and brushed my teeth before changing into my office wear and dashing out of the room with my phone in my hands.
I ran downstairs only to meet Grandma Nini and jade in the living room. They both turned to face me and I knew I was caught in the act.
“Morning.” I mumbled quietly.
“Running away?” Grandma Nini smirked.
“No, I just wanted to check some stuff.” I lied but it was pretty obvious that I was lying anyway.
“He was running away.” Jade laughed and I glared at him.
“I packed you breakfast because I knew you would do this.” Grandma Nini said, giving Jade the lunch box.
“Thanks.” I said and gave her a heart sign with my hands.
I ran to the parking lot with jade running behind me and asking me to slow down.
We both got into the car with jade igniting the engine and driving off to the hospital.
“You should eat something.” Jade said, gesturing to the lunch box that grandma Nini packed for me.
“I’ll eat, after I check up on her.” I mumbled and he nodded in understanding.
We soon arrived at the hospital and I dashed to the elevator the moment we parked the car even without waiting for jade.
The elevator closed before he arrived which meant that he would have to take another one which I didn’t even mind or care about.
I walked briskly towards the second floor and I could hear a lot of voices arguing.
I turned to my left where Eve ward was and that’s when I saw what was happening.
A loud commotion was happening there.
“What’s going on here?” I asked in a voice loud enough for all of them to hear me.
“Did you all suddenly go mute?” I snapped seeing as they all kept quiet once they saw me and refused to say anything.
“Jason..” it was my mom that spoke up now.
“I called them here.” She said and I frowned.
“These good for nothing people asked stupid questions, that’s what!” Max yelled in anger making me even more confused.
“Can someone explain what’s going on here?” I asked again and looked at all their faces but no one was ready to say anything..
Just what exactly is going on?
