Chapter 77

Eve..
Two weeks later.
I walked down the stairs ready to go to work. I’ve been in a very good mood for the past few days though I’ve been feeling a bit sick but there has been nothing out of the ordinary so far. Jason’s birthday is in two days and I promised to make it up to me when he gave me that necklace so I’m planning to bake him a cake.
So right now, I’m going grocery shopping. To get some stuff for Ethan’s shop and also for the cake I’m going to bake for Jason’s birthday.
“Good morning.” I said the moment I saw mom in the living room.
“Morning Eve.” She said quietly.
“Is anything the matter?” I asked in concern.
“I have to go to the store with Sophie but I also have to go to a business gathering.” She said sadly.
“Oh, that’s fine, we can go together.” I said.
“You and Sophie?” She asked and nodded.
“That’s great then.” She said and gave me a hug before she disappeared into her room.
I walked around to look for Sophie so I could tell about the change of plans but I couldn’t find her anywhere.
“Grandma Nini.” I called since I was closer to the garden.
“Eve.” She said getting up from the stool where she sat and coming to meet me. We met halfway and she gave me a hug.
“Good morning, you’ve been cooped up in the garden for days so I wanted to check up on you.” I said.
“Oh I’m just planting a few flowers.” She said happily and I nodded.
“Will you show them to me?” I asked and she smiled before dragging me along to show me a few of the newly added flowers that have started to grow.
“Aren’t most of these flowers used at weddings?” I asked once I saw them.
“Yes, it would be nice to have these at your wedding, wouldn’t it?” She said and I looked at her in amusement.
“My wedding?” I asked, smiling.
“Yes, I overheard Jason saying he was going to propose again.” She said, making me laugh again.
“Okay.” I said even though I didn’t believe her. She seemed happy about it.
She planted lavender, Amaranthus, Alstroemeria and peonies.
Lavender means loyalty, love and devotion and it’s the best fit for weddings.
Amaranthus symbolises unfading love.
Alstroemeria symbolises devotion, wealth prosperity and fortune – all good things to wish upon the lives of a newly wedded couple.
Peonies are generally said to represent a happy marriage, prosperity and bashfulness.
So in short, they were all fit to be at weddings.
I loved how devoted Grandma Nini is to flowers anyways. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
“Madam Eve.” A voice called bringing me back to reality.
“Sophie.” I said turning to face her.
“I’ve been looking all over for you.” I said and she apologised.
“Don’t call me madam, just call me Eve.” I reminded her for the nth time but she just shrugged. Such a rude girl!
“Bye, Grandma Nini.” I said leaving the garden with Sophie by my side.
“Mom told you that we’re going to the grocery store together right?” I asked and she nodded in response.
Jade was the one driving us to the grocery store on the orders of Jason. I don’t know why he’s been on the edge ever since we had sex. He’s so over the top.
” Let’s go.” I said to jade once we were both in the car.
I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and once I brought it out to check it, it was Jason once again.
“Hello.” I said once I picked up the call.
“How are you?” He asked and I smiled.
“I’m good.” I said quietly.
“But you threw up this morning.” He reminded me.
“I’m fine, I just ate something weird.” I said.
“I think the food I ate yesterday was what caused it.” I said quietly.
“Are you sure we don’t have to go to the hospital?” He asked and I declined.
“We don’t.” I said immediately.
“Okay, I gotta go now, love you.” He said and hung up.
“Love you too.” I mumbled to myself since there was no way he could hear it all the way from the office.
“I simply caught the flu, there’s nothing special about it.” I thought.
We soon arrived at the grocery store but I was starting to feel ill once more.
“Sophie, can you go to the grocery store alone?” I asked Sophie who sat beside me.
“I..” she paused as if to say no.
“Yes.” She agreed nevertheless and got out of the car.
“Take me home.” I said to jade who was confused.
“I feel sick.” I said quietly.
“Are you sure you don’t want to go to the hospital?” Jade asked and I shook my head.
“What about Sophie then?” Jade asked and I sighed.
“She won’t be done in the next one hour, you’ll drop me off and come back to get her.” I said quietly and he nodded before igniting the engine and doing a U-turn and then driving out of the parking lot of the big store.
The ride to the house was quiet because I couldn’t even start a conversation. I was feeling so weak. I thought I was better this morning and that’s why I decided to go out but it seems like nothing changed.
Maybe Jason was right and I needed to go to the hospital.
I’ve been feeling like crap for the past few days.
As soon as we got to the house, I ran straight to the toilet to puke out my insides.
I haven’t had breakfast yet and yet I had so much to vomit.
Yuck!
I got up, flushed the toilet, washed my hands, rinsed my mouth and washed my face.
I dried my hands before coming out of the toilet only to meet jade standing there with a small face towel handed out for me.
“Are you sure you’re alright?” He asked and I nodded.
“I’m okay, just go and wait for Sophie.” I said.
“Could you help me to get these from the store while you’re at it?” I asked as I gave him the list of what I wanted to buy.
“Sure but I’m really worried about you.” He said in concern and I smiled.
“I’ll get some sleep and don’t you dare call Jason and snitch on me.” I warned before going upstairs.
I laid on the bed and soon drifted to sleep.
