Chapter 58

Jason…
“She’s simply under a lot of stress.” The doctor said, making me sigh in relief.
“So she’s not dying?” Max asked the doctor, making him laugh.
“She’s not dying at all, she’s just really stressed and given the fact she’s malnourished as well, that acted as a factor in making her feel dizzy which resulted in her fainting, I’m surprised that she took this long to come to the hospital.” The doctor said, shaking his head.
“After her IV drip, she can be discharged.” The doctor said before leaving us with the good news.
I felt so relieved.
I thought she was dying or she had some kind of incurable disease.
“You should be glad that she’s fine, if not.” Max hissed.
Ethan pulled him away whispering to him while Jade walked up to me instead.
“I thought she was pregnant.” I heard Jade mumble and I smiled.
It would be nice if she was indeed pregnant but given the state of things, I want to be with Eve for a while before a baby comes.
I went back to the room only to meet Eve already awake and sitting up.
I helped her sit properly and gave her a small hug.
“I thought I was going to lose you.” I said quietly and she hugged back.
“I love you.” I whispered quietly.
“I love you too.” Eve said, making me smile.
“Yuck!” I heard someone say making us disengage from the hug and I groaned again.
Max!
“Are you sure you want to love this idiot?” Max hissed, making me frown.
“Max!” Eve called sternly.
“I’m just saying.” He huffed.
I sat on the stool giving Max space to hug Eve.
“Don’t ever do this ever again.” He warned and she laughed.
“He’s just a bit cranky.” Ethan said to me and I smiled before nodding.
“I’ll forgive you but only because of Eve, nothing more, nothing less.” Max said as he turned to face me.
I extended my hands for a handshake.
“Truce?” I asked, smiling with my hands still extended, it wasn’t until Eve nudged him and he huffed before shaking them.
“Truce.” He grumbled.
“I’m hungry.” Jade said.
“Me too.” Eve said and we all laughed.
“She’ll soon be discharged, why don’t we head over to a restaurant after that?” Max suggested and Eve agreed.
As for me, whatever she wants, I’m okay with it.
Soon, she was discharged and we went to the restaurant that Max recommended.
According to him, they made the best food in the universe.
I wasn’t one for eating out but I couldn’t help but moan once I tasted the delicious meal.
We were having Panera broccoli cheddar soup and chicken spaghetti with grilled cheese sandwiches for everyone. I don’t know how they managed to make it work but the food tasted amazingly great.
Jade returned to work under my request while I followed Eve to Ethan’s house to get her belongings.
“Are you sure you want to go home with me?” I asked her for the umpteenth time.
“Yes, Jason, stop grilling me.” She huffed.
“Grilling you?” I teased making her blush.
“I m-meant that y-you s.. s-should stop.” She stuttered in embarrassment which made me laugh.
“Stop it..” she playfully hit me while I drove to the given address.
“But seriously, are you sure you’re ready to go home?” I asked her again to be sure.
“Yes Jason.”
“I left abruptly, and I miss grandma Nini and Mom too.” She said, making me smile.
Mom? She called my mom that and not her name again. She was really adjusting.
I felt great knowing that she had accepted me and my family, it made me feel happy and content.
We got down from the car and took the elevator to the said apartment.
She put in the door code and we entered the house.
“Eve, is that you?” I heard Max call and Eve hummed in response.
Max came out from what I’m guessing is the kitchen.
“Oh you brought him.” He hissed as he went back to the kitchen.
“Mr Coleman.” Ethan said as he came out of the kitchen.
“Call me Jason.” I said quietly as I extended my hands.
“We’ve met before you know.” I reminded him since he was being polite.
“I know.” He said, shaking my hands.
“I hope you really don’t mind Max’s attitude.” He said and I smiled.
“I don’t, I understand where he’s coming from.” I said quietly.
“Jason..” Eve called my name and I turned to face her.
She was holding her box and her purse.
“I’m ready to go.” She said, smiling from ear to ear.
“Okay.” I smiled happily.
“Yuck!” I heard Max again and I couldn’t help but chuckle at his consistency.
“Are you sure you can’t stay?” He said, convincing Eve to stay with them.
“I know you guys have not been having sex because of me, I’ll give you guys your privacy.” Eve said bluntly, making Max blush and Ethan choke on the water he was drinking.
“Bye bye..” Max escorted us to the door while Ethan was still coughing in embarrassment.
“You better take care of her or I wouldn’t hesitate to come and take her back.” Max warned and I gave him my word.
That I would take care of her with my life in fact.
I helped Eve with her bags and kept them in the car trunk then I opened the door for her and she smiled as she entered inside.
I got into the car and ignited the engine, driving back to my home.
No, our home.
We arrived and I took her bags and with her hands in mine, we entered the house.
“We’re home.” I said announcing our arrival.
“Welcome home!” They popped the balloons and screamed.
I wasn’t even aware of this. Eve and I were both shocked by the grand welcome. I guess I’m not the only one who wanted to give her a warm welcome.
There was a big banner in the living room on the wall – Welcome home, lovebirds.
I laughed and Eve hid her blush.
“We’ve missed you.” Mom said.
“Don’t ever leave like that ever again..” Grandma Nini said.
They both said pulling Eve from me and into their embrace. This was a great sight to see and I felt content.
Finally, all the people I loved were right by my side.
