Chapter 38

Book:The Virgin Wife Published:2025-3-31

Jason..
The sound of the rain drizzling was what woke me up from my sleep.
“Who left the windows open again?” I groaned as I felt the breeze hit me.
So cold.
I opened my eyes slowly like an old computer booting. I looked around, noticing that the surroundings were a bit different from my room.
“Where am I?” I wondered as I slowly sat up but an arm was pulling me back.
I looked to my side and that’s when I noticed the sleeping figure beside me.
Eve?
I shivered due to the cold and that’s when it dawned on me that I was shirtless.
I looked at the duvet that covered the lower part of my body.
No! Not shirtless – Naked.
I was naked and so was Eve.
Did I instigate this?
I looked to my side again and there she was sleeping peacefully not worrying about a thing in the world.
She looked so beautiful.
Beautiful?
What’s wrong with you this morning Jason?
I looked around the bed and that’s when I noticed the red patch and white stains on the bed.
The white stains were probably me reaching my climax but the red stains?
Was she….
Oh my gosh..
Was she a virgin?
What did I do?
I slowly let myself out of her grasp and got out of the bed. I picked up my clothes that were thrown on the bed and wore them.
It reeked of alcohol which means I was drunk and in my drunken state, I came here for comfort and we had sex.
So what’s the big deal?
The big deal is that she was a virgin.
I was in a dilemma. I didn’t know what to do. How could I possibly have broken the contract I put together?
Ring ring ring..
My phone rang loudly and I quickly shut it off before it could wake Eve up when I’ve not decided on how I could possibly deal with this situation.
I groaned as I ran my hands through my head.
I checked my phone that was still ringing but on silent now and the number was unknown.
I tiptoed out of Eve’s room, closed the door and stood in the hallway before picking up the call.
“Hello.” I said as I picked the call up.
“Is this Mr Coleman?” The caller asked.
“Yes, this is him.” I was unsure of why I was being asked that question.
“I’m calling from the city police department, we’re gonna need you to come in today.” The caller said and I frowned.
“Come in for what?” I snapped.
“You don’t just call a citizen and ask them to come to the police station, on what grounds do you have to ask me to come to the police station?” I snapped but not loudly.
“Forgive me sir, I didn’t mean you should come in as an accused. We have a case and he’s insisting that he sees you before he speaks up.” The caller said and I calmed down.
Perhaps it was because I was yet to come to terms with how I woke up this morning which is why I’m getting worked up.
“I’ll come by…” I paused and checked the time on my wristwatch.
It was just 9am which means I have time to rest up and do a few things.
“I’ll come in by 11am.” I said quietly, waiting for them to refuse.
“Ah..” the caller paused. Does this person want to argue with me?
“That will be much appreciated sir.” The caller said after a short while and I hummed.
“Wait.” I said.
“You are?” I was curious to know who was behind the phone call.
“Detective Dave sir.” The caller said and hung up.
Detective Dave huh?
But he sounded like a girl.
I shrugged as I opened Eve’s room and took one look at her sleeping figure on the stained bed.
I’ll deal with this later.
I thought as I went straight to my room which was just across the hall.
I opened the door and entered, meeting the shock of my life.
“Grandma Nini?” I said as I noticed her standing just close to the door as if she was just about to leave.
“What are you doing here?” I was confused as to why she was in my room this early this morning.
“Where were you?” She ignored my question.
“I..” I stuttered.
“I was in the study.” I said after a while and she looked at me from head to toe and is that a smirk?
Is she smirking at me?
“What are you doing here?” I asked, looking away since I was feeling conscious under her gaze.
“I came to check on you ofcourse.”
“Your mother had to go abroad to calm our international investors and I fell asleep early yesterday so I couldn’t tell you and you didn’t want Eve to know about the company crisis so I couldn’t tell her either.” She said smiling and I raised my brows.
What’s funny?
“Okay. I’m going to the police station for some questioning so don’t worry about me.” I said frowning now that she looked like she was holding back her laughter.
“Okay, go well then.” She said walking past me to the door.
And then she turned to face me and pointed at my waist.
“Am I just old or do young men wear lacy panties these days?” She snickered and I looked down to my waist and noticed what she was talking about.
Oh Lord!
Am I wearing Eve’s panties?
“It’s fashion.” I mumbled embarrassed.
“Fashion or a kink of yours?” She asked teasingly, making me blush in embarrassment.
“I don’t think I should be having this kind of conversation with you grandma.” I said turning away from her so she couldn’t see the red hue on my face showing my embarrassment.
“Grandma knows these things too, you know.” She said laughing as she left my room.
I must have worn these in a rush earlier.
I made sure the door to my room was closed before stripping.
I picked up the black lacy panties that I wore earlier.
“This is so embarrassing.” I thought.
“What would I say?”
“I mistakenly wore your panties earlier when I ran away from your room after realising that we might have had sex and I don’t remember any of it?”
Oh God.
Jason, you’re so done.
I grabbed my towel off the rack and went into the bathroom.
I filled the tub with cold water and soapy bubbles before entering inside and sitting there to feel relaxed. I laid inside the tub, dunking my whole body into the water.
Let’s stay like this for a while.
What was that? Did that happen or am I seeing things?
What just happened?
Are you sure you want this to happen?
Am I having clips from what happened yesterday with Eve?
“I want my first time with you to be without condoms or and you don’t need lube.”
Oh my, this was what happened with Eve yesterday. I really did initiate it. I kissed her first and I instigated the makeout.
I don’t put up with all that you say to me because I like it but because I’m used to it.
Oh my goodness.. I can’t believe I just ran away from all these when I’m the cause of it in the first place.
I got out of the tub and dried my body with my towel.
Soon afterwards, I took a real bath and brushed my teeth.
Then, I got dressed in casual clothes before checking the time.
Shit! It’s already a few minutes to eleven. I grabbed my wallet and keys before dashing out of my room only to meet Eve on the stairs going downstairs too.
She looked like she just had her bath too but are those puffy eyes?
Did she cry when she woke up and saw that I wasn’t beside her anymore?
She got down from the stairs and stood there as if she was waiting for me.
I walked down the stairs and we both stood there staring at each other.
It was very awkward to say the least. What would I say?
What could I possibly say?
She continued looking at me as if she was waiting for an explanation but I looked down as if the floor had something interesting going on there.
I looked up to look at her again but she turned and walked away.
I wanted to go after her but if I did, I’d be late to the police station.
I sighed heavily as I walked out of the door and went to the car park.
When I get back, I’ll deal with this.
I walked towards my car and I saw a figure standing there, he looked very familiar.
“Are you jade?” I asked, unsure of who he truly was.
“Yes sir, you remember my name?” He said happily and I wondered if it was possible for someone to be this happy everyday.
“I’m Jade and I’ve been assigned to be your driver from today on.” He said and I nodded as I threw the keys to him.
“To the station.” I said entering the car and he got into the driver’s seat too.
“What station sir?” He asked, yet to ignite the engine.
“Police station.” I said, groaning.
Why is he so slow?
He ignited the engine and we drove out of my mansion and straight to the road. Soon, we were on our way to the police station.
Usually, my ride was a very quiet one but with a chirpy loudmouth as my driver, I’m afraid this would change.
“I never knew I would end up being the driver and personal secretary to you sir.”
“It’s an honour.”
“In my house, you’re considered a smart person if you work in Jason tech so I always brag about working here.”
“I’ve never been this happy about something in my life.”
“Miss Eve must have been the one who recommended me to you.”
He kept blabbing away but my ears stopped listening when he mentioned Eve’s name.
Miss Eve?
Isn’t he supposed to call her Mrs Coleman?
Oh wait, No.
It’s not like she is really my wife.
What’s wrong with me today?
It feels like I’m in a fight with myself.
Do I want her to be my Mrs Coleman?
Why? Because I took her virginity?
After all the things I’ve said and done to her?
Can I really make it up to her?
Do I want to make this work?
Now that I think about this, I’ve always said she was unqualified to be my wife but what qualifications could I possibly be looking for?
Is marriage an interview? Why am I looking for qualifications when love should be the reason behind everything?
Love? Am I in love with Eve?
This brings me back to the question that Alice asked a few days ago.
Do you love your wife?
Why do I get stuck in this one question?
Whenever I start thinking, my mind stops whenever this question comes up.
Why can’t I answer this question?
“Sir!”
“Sir! Are you listening to me?” Jade’s voice jolted me from my monologue.
“What?” I snapped. I don’t know why but I did.
“We’re here.” He said, turning back by my sudden outburst.
Oh Eve, what are you doing to me?
“Sorry.” I mumbled under my breath but he heard it since I noticed him smile and nod from the mirror.
Sorry? Did I just apologise to my subordinate?
I shrugged as I came out of the car and started walking to the police station with jade trailing behind me.
I entered inside and asked around for detective Dave and a petite young lady who seemed to be in her late twenties approached me.
“Hi, I’m Detective Dave, please to meet you Mr Coleman.” She said, extending her hands for a handshake.
“You’re Dave?” I was shocked.
“Yes, I am.” She said smiling.
“Why?, were you expecting a young man since I said my name is Dave?” She smirked with her hands still extended. I realised my mistake and I shook her hands.
“Not at all, it’s just unusual for …” I trailed off.
“Nevermind.” I said knowing that I was indeed expecting to see a young man and not a young woman.
“My mom thought I was a boy when she was pregnant with me, she didn’t check the baby’s gender all through the pregnancy and she already gave me a name before I was born, so they stuck with it even when they knew I wasn’t a boy.” She explained as she guided me to what I think is the interrogation room.
“But since you’re not here to know the reason behind my name, I suggest you get to it.” She said, opening the door and showing me inside.
“She’s feisty.” I heard Jade say behind me.
“You’ll have to wait here.” She said to jade who nodded and stood outside while I went inside the room.
The room was dark with a large mirror which one couldn’t see through but I guessed that on the other side was one or two officers watching what was happening in this room through the cctv.
The dim light in the centre of the room was the only thing that lit up the place and allowed me to see his face.
I sat down on one of two chairs opposite him.
“I’ll leave you two to talk.” Detective Dave said before leaving the room and I watched her go before I turned to face him.
“Jason…” He called my name and I scoffed.
“Just because you quit your job and turned yourself in doesn’t mean you can call me by my name.” I snapped and he chuckled.
“Sorry, Mr Coleman.” He said still grinning and I felt my stomach churn in anger.
“Clinton..” I said coldly.
“That would be me.” He smirked.
