Jada looked at me with furrowed brows.
“Aren’t you getting up?” He questioned.
“Why?” I managed to ask despite feeling scared.
“Oh gosh Max, she’s so naive.” Jada giggled.
“I’m not interested in you, I just wanted to check you out.” Jada said.
“No, I didn’t think you were interested in me, I was just scared of your tone.” I said quietly.
“Oh sorry, I talk like that when I’m trying to get in the mood.” Jada said and I stood up.
“Turn around.” Jada instructed and I did.
I was under his scrutinising look and I couldn’t help but feel small. I’ve never had someone stare at me for so long so I put my head down.
“Chin up, show some confidence.” Jada said with a frown.
“You’re a beautiful black woman, I don’t know why you’re so nervous and shy.”
“You should try to be more confident, don’t let others look down on you.”
“The reason why your husband would cheat on you is because you appear too simple.” Jada said, tapping his hands on his laps as he crossed his legs.
“You can sit down.” He said remembering that I was still standing up.
“Okay Jada, I think I’ll leave you two while I join the party.” Max said getting up and going out of the office while I sat down.
“Besides shopping, what else did you guys do today?” Jada asked.
“Nothing.” I mumbled.
“Max didn’t take you to a spa? Paint your names, get cooled down and wax?” Jada asked, confused.
“He said we had to come see you.” I said.
“Okay, I have a spa just down the road so you can go there now.” Jada said drinking from the cup of water that I didn’t notice was on the table that divided us both.
“Now?” I was confused because he had not given me any advice on how to seduce my husband yet.
“Not now, I still have to give you some advice on how to make him attracted to you again.” Jada said smiling.
“Okay, what are those?” I asked.
“Confidence!” Jada said, fisting his hands.
“Confidence?” I asked with raised brows.
“Yes, every man loves a woman who is confident and not naive, you don’t have to act shy and coy all the time especially in front of your own husband, it’s a total turn off.” Jada explained and I brought out a book and pen to write it inside.
“You’re writing it?” Jada laughed.
“Yeah, I want to remember.” I said embarrassed.
“It’s fine, I like you, you’re determined.” Jada laughed and I smiled.
“Okay so, after confidence, a little bit of skin ship.” Jada said.
“Skinship?” I asked.
“Yes, skinship, don’t act like you’re a virgin, I’m pretty sure you’ve done the deed before.” Jada said laughing.
“No.” I said quietly.
“No?” Jada asked with wide eyes.
“No.” I repeated.
“It’s fine, some people want to take their time, you know, they want the first time to be memorable.” Jada said, trying to make me feel better.
“Okay, so by skin ship, I mean show a little skin and touch him a little, don’t dress up like this.” Jada said pointing at my clothes.
“This cloth is pretty cute and not attractive.” Jada said, dropping his hands and tapping his laps again.
“You are supposed to be attractive to your husband, cute is for children.”
“You should be sexy and show him some sex appeal.” Jada slurred his words.
“So you have to get some nice underwear and transparent robes.” Jada advised.
“Then when he talks to you, you look him in the eyes and make him feel uncomfortable, whether he says something funny or not, you laugh and you give him a playful tap from time to time.” Jada said.
“We’re not close enough to do all those.” I said thinking about me and Jason.
“Is it an arranged marriage by your parents?” Jada asked, confused.
“Close.” I said.
“So you just tolerate each other?” Jada asked.
“Something like that.” I mumbled.
“Then you need a better strategy.” Jada said quietly as he thought of what to say next.
It was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop.
“Get him to sleep with you.” Jada said after much silence.
“What?” I blurted out in shock.
“What?” Jada asked.
“That’s the fastest way to get him under your thumb okay, once you can seduce him to sleep with you then the rest will slowly get in place.” Jada advised.
I felt heat rise to my face.
“How do I do that?” I asked, feeling embarrassed.
“There are different ways to seduce a man..” Jada laughed and I giggled.
“One, you seduce him with food.” Jada said.
“Food?” I asked.
“You can’t cook?” Jada asked.
“I can.” I said immediately.
“Good, because a man likes a woman who fills his belly up.” Jada said.
“You try to get to know him.” Jada said again.
“How?” I asked.
“You ask questions, just like now, you become inquisitive, you give him random ideas and gifts, you bother him, you make him feel bothered.” Jada said.
“And after doing all these, his thoughts are filled with everything about you. He can’t help but want to reach out but his ego doesn’t want him to because he pushed you away first.” Jada said.
“And then the final hit, your first night.” Jada giggled.
“You spray a lovely perfume while putting on a seductive nightgown and candles everywhere with red petals on the bed and then expensive wine too.” Jada said dreamily and I couldn’t help but wonder if that wasn’t his own dream sex night.
“You seem like you’re the one who wants this, not me.” I joked.
“I want that too okay, all I’ve ever had is painful sex with my rough ex boyfriends.” Jada said sadly.
“Why don’t you date a vanilla guy then?” I asked.
“I thought you were naive, Max is a liar.” Jada laughed.
“No, I just know a few things.” I explained.
“Another way would be through his mother, a man loves a woman whom his mother approves of.” Jada said.
“His mother seems to like me.” I mumbled.
“Well then girl, your ship is sailing.” Jada said, getting up.
“Aren’t you gonna come along with me to the spa? You need to change all this up now, time is running out.” Jada said and I got up.
We both went out and went to the spa.
I went to the waxing section and damn, waxing hurts.
I painted my nails white and nude because that’s the idea I got from the person in charge. And then I got some body lotion and oil as a free gift and some free samples.
In short, Jada treated me well and asked me to come some other time while Max drove me back home.
“Between this guy and this one, who do you think is better?” Max asked, scrolling through his phone with one hand while driving with the other one.
“Isn’t that the guy from the book cafe?” I asked, looking at one of the pictures.
“Yes, that’s him.” Max said, focusing on the road.
“And the other one?” I asked.
“I met him at Jada’s bar.” Max said, still looking at the road.
“Max, should you be dating already? Don’t you still like Nate?” I wondered how he could easily move on from his ex so fast.
“I’m over Nate okay, don’t worry about me.” Max said.
“I’m not worried, I just don’t want you to get hurt.” I said.
“Same difference Eve.” Max said driving into the hotel parking lot.
I smiled. Max had always been a playboy since our school days and even when he came out as gay, it didn’t affect his personality as men still swooned over him.
But after a failed relationship with his first real boyfriend – Jake, he refused to date anyone seriously. Instead, he went around flirting and having one night stands. He told me he met Nate at a party organised by his close friend who owned a bar and I’m guessing that friend was Jada. I thought the relationship was serious but Nate fucked up and here we are with Max trying to between the Barista and some random idiot he met at a bar.
I never believe a bar relationship could extend to anything more because as my mom always said – you can never find a responsible man at an irresponsible place.
“The barista is your type.” I joked and Max nodded. I’m sure he understood what I meant.
Soon, Max parked the car and helped me get all my stuff from the back seat.
I dropped them all by the car and jumped on him.
“Thank You very much Max, what you did for me today was very great.” I said squeezing the life out of my best friend.
“It’s alright, don’t choke me to death, I’ve got an assignment.” Max said, disengaging from the hug.
“An assignment?” I asked as we disengaged from the hug.
“The barista.” Max said and I nodded understanding what he meant.
Despite the fact that he’s a bottom in bed, he still knows how to sweep men off their feet. I laughed and he laughed too.
“Thanks for always supporting me, I’ll call you later.” Max said, giving me a peck on my cheeks and getting into the car. He ignited the engine and drove off.
It wasn’t until Max’s yellow Tesla was out of the garage that I saw Jason standing there with a scowl on his face. I ignored him and picked up the bags on the floor.
I walked towards the elevator with Jason following behind me. As soon as the elevator opened, I entered and he entered too still with a frown on his face.
“You went shopping with your boyfriend using my card.” Jason said and I ignored him.
“How low can you go?” He continued his useless accusations.
“What would people say if they see the wife of Jason’s Tech flirting around with a boy just because he drives a Tesla when I drive a BMW.” Jason huffed and I still ignored him.
Soon we got to our floor and I went straight to the door, opened it, got in and went to drop the bags in the room. I took a shower and changed into my pyjamas that Max bought for me. It was a sky blue pyjamas that hugged all my curves. I remembered that I didn’t have dinner yet so I thought a cup of noodles would be good so I went to the kitchen to get one.
I got a cup of Korean noodles, opened it, poured some water and put it into the microwave, and waited for it to boil.
Once it was ready, I put it on the dinning and got a can of beer from the fridge because I needed to unwind. It’s been a while since I drank beer since I couldn’t drink any while I was working many jobs and I only drank when Max was around because Max knows his liquor.
“Did your boyfriend not feed you?” Jason asked as he sneaked up on me.
I jumped in fear and choked on my food. I started coughing and I quickly went to get some water from the fridge while Jason stood them watching me in shock.
“What kind of person sneaks up on someone eating?” I snapped as soon as I calmed down.
“Sorry, but it’s your fault.” Jason said with no ounce of sympathy in his voice.
“Jerk.” I said loud enough for him to hear before going back to my now soggy noodles. I forced myself to eat it because I didn’t like wasting food while Jason still stood watching me.
“What do you want?” I asked when I was done and I had put the plate away.
“Where were you today?” Jason snapped.
“Last time I checked, I didn’t have to tell you about my whereabouts.” I snapped back and Jason had a look of shock on his face. He has always been on the winning side but today I wasn’t backing down and he was stunned by my reply.
“Who was that guy?” Jason asked.
“What’s it to you?” I asked with confidence.
“You.. I… What…” Jason stuttered, unable to find words to say.
“What? Cat got your tongue?” I smirked.
“If he’s your boyfriend, then don’t you think you should tone it down? You live with me and you’re letting a man drive you home, what would people say?” Jason managed to find his voice.
“I don’t care what people say, it’s not like this is a real marriage anyway.” I mumbled.
“So you’re dating someone?” Jason snapped.
“And you? Aren’t you sleeping around?” I snapped angrily and Jason couldn’t find a comeback as he looked at me angrily.
“Thought so.” I mumbled, still maintaining my glare as I walked back to my room and slammed the door behind me.
To be honest, I was scared but I would never give in to Jason anymore. That’s for sure.
