Chapter 11

Book:The Virgin Wife Published:2025-3-31

Eve’s POV.
The next day, I called Max so we could work on my glow up but I had to talk about the stuff with Jason too because he had been bugging me about my so-called husband but since Jason doesn’t regard me as his wife even if it’s fake. I would regard him as one and Max wouldn’t tell a soul so I don’t have to worry about keeping it a secret.
We were going to meet at the Subway fast food joint. So I dressed up in a yellow dress with black polka dots and a black ribbon on my curly hair and black boots. I hurried out of the suite because I just saw a text from Max that he was already outside the place waiting for me and Max doesn’t like to wait.
It wasn’t really far from the hotel so I didn’t have to take a cab because that would have taken much time and Max would have swollen up like a burrito. I smiled at my own thoughts until I saw Max standing outside the place waiting for me.
“If the shrimp sandwich finishes before we get there, I’ll skin you alive.” Max said in a stern voice and although I knew it was a joke, I couldn’t help but shiver.
“I’m sorry.” I said with an awkward smile.
“You better be.” He said as he walked into the restaurant and went straight to order while I sat down at a seat closer to the big window.
He came back with a smile on his face and I knew that the shrimp sandwich was still available. I released the breath I didn’t know I was holding.
“Were you scared?, I was joking.” Max said and I nodded.
He giggled and I couldn’t help but laugh too.
“So how’s Nate?” I asked and he frowned.
“We broke up, Eve.” He said with a frown that soon turned to a smirk.
“Why are you smirking?” I asked.
“Because I dumped his ass.” He said triumphantly.
“I thought you didn’t show up yesterday because of your ‘rendezvous’?” I asked, gesturing my hands in an air quote way.
“We went out to have fun and I saw him flirting with another guy!” Max hissed.
“You have a gorgeous boyfriend like me and you flirt with a lowlife you met in a bar? So rude.” Max huffed.
“So I dumped his ass.” He said laughing and I couldn’t help but join him.
“You did well.” I said with a smile on my face and he nodded.
“Well, enough about me girl, tell me about your husband.” Max said, giving me a playful tap on my shoulders.
“He’s not my husband!” I said in a low tone.
“He’s not your husband?” He asked, confused.
“Yeah, he’s not.” I huffed.
“Did you guys fight? If you did, you need to apologise, girl, because you’re married to a rich billionaire, damn! That’s hot, if he was gay, I would have snatched him from you already.” Max joked but I didn’t even laugh.
“Cool down girl, it’s a joke.” Max said, confused by my reaction.
“There’s something I need to tell you but I need you to promise that you won’t tell anyone.” I said quietly.
“I won’t.” He whispered.
“You don’t have to whisper, you know.” I smiled.
“I know, I feel like I’m in a spy movie.” He joked and this time I laughed.
“Okay, listen.” I said as I began to explain everything to him.
How I met Jason, how we got married and how he has been treating me all this while. What happened with his mom and the latest being that he came home reeking of sex and another woman’s perfume.
“What a douche!” Max said at the end of my explanation.
“So what do you want to do now?” Max asked, concerned.
“Do you want to break the contract? You know you can’t right, as rich as I am I can’t pay the penalty fee and I already got my inheritance.” Max said and I smiled.
“I don’t want to break the contract, two months will be gone in a jiffy, I’m going to make him fall in love with me and then break his heart. I need a glow up.” I said with determination.
“Well, you’ve come to the right person. You’re looking at one of the finest fashion designers in the world.” Max said proudly and we high fived before going back to eat our sandwich and gulp down our sprites.
“So now what?” I asked.
“I’m an expert on clothes but we need you to meet someone else on the matters of the heart so let’s go meet her.” Max said, getting up.
“Who?” I asked.
“You’ll know when you get there but let’s first get you glowed up, this dress you’re wearing is nice but you can do better.” Max said and I nodded, getting up and following him out.
“Did I tell you that Nate got me a car?” Max asked and I raised my brows.
“No, you didn’t.” I said, shaking my head.
“Well, after our fight last night, he asked me to give him back the car but I didn’t because it was registered under my name already. So there was no use of giving it back to him.” Max said.
“I present to you – Stephanie.” Max said, pointing to a Brand New Yellow Tesla.
“Omg!, This is beautiful.” I was stunned by the car.
“Your ex boyfriend must be so furious.” I said thinking about it.
“No, he has a lot of cars, he sells cars for a living so I don’t think he’s bothered.” Max said nonchalantly.
“Max, Teslas cost a lot.” I reminded him.
“I don’t care, he gave it to me and I’m not giving it back okay, it’s stupid to collect everything back from your ex just because you broke up.” Max said getting into the car.
I still stood outside awed by the beautiful car.
“Well, are you coming with me or not?” He shouted from inside the car.
“I’m coming.” I said getting into the car as we drove to get glowed up.
It’s time to make Jason’s jaw drop. We get into the car and Max drives me to God knows where.
We got to the mall in about twenty minutes and Max all but dragged me into it. He first took me to a store called Celine.
He made me try on about ten different outfits and I didn’t really like any except a flowery dress with a thigh high slit and a blue off shoulder blouse.
” Max, can we please stop for a few minutes? I’m tired,” I said as he was about to drag me to another store.
” You know, for someone with a revenge plan, you’re not really enthusiastic about it” He said while rolling his eyes.
” But sure, fine, there’s a frozen yoghurt shop in the food court, let’s go there and get something then we’ll continue this.” Max said with a smile while he dragged me to the yoghurt shop. We both got banana yoghurt because Max goes crazy for anything banana flavoured.
What a weird taste!
We went back to shop using the card Jason gave me of course. I never really wanted to spend his money but since he thinks I’m a money grubber, I might as well be one.
So we went to another store called Givenchy and I managed to pick out a matching pink sweatshirt and pants that Max insisted I have because he wanted one and since he was helping me. It wouldn’t hurt to buy him something. Besides, I’ve always been on the receiving end so it was nice to give him something for a first.
So after that, Max dragged me to a Gucci store and I got two beautiful bags that the store attendant insisted I got because I looked great with them. Such a great market strategy.
And then, we went to the final store which was a Dior store. I got a black seductive dress that showed my back and had a beaded waist part. With silver shoes to go.
After that, we went to a book cafe nearby, they had a rule that you had to buy a cup of coffee to read a book and it was a good idea.
I dropped my bags besides Max who was flirting with the barista who seemed to be enjoying what was going on. I walked through the store looking for one of my favourite books – Anne of the green gables. That was a book I read when I was younger and that book was one hell of a great one.
“I got his number.” Max came squealing.
“Yeah, cool.” I said while I continued to look for the book.
“What?” Max asked with raised brows.
“I’m looking for something.” I said, trying not to get distracted. I found it and I smiled. The smell of books was one of my comforts when I still worked a lot of jobs. During my resting time, I would read a book while drinking a cup of coffee and a blueberry muffin. I missed those times. Not the work though. It was nice to not be working on what to eat.
“Eve, are you gonna read that?” Max asked me, raising his brows.
“Yeah.” I was confused as to why he was asking me that question.
“Well, I came here to collect the Barista’s number not to get you to read books, come on let’s go, we have to go and see Jada.” He said. I groaned as I dropped the book back on the shelf.
We dropped the bags of clothes and shoes into the back seat of his yellow Tesla and we drove to where this ‘Jada’ stayed.
Max stopped in front of a bar and I raised my brows.
“You’re taking me to drink?” I asked with a frown because Max knew I never drink.
“No, stupid, Jada is the owner of the bar.” Max laughed and I rolled my eyes.
We got down from the car and entered the bar and it was like I was in another world, well not a good one though. This wasn’t your regular bar, it was a gay club or maybe?
There were a lot of male strippers on the dance floor and I had to look elsewhere because what they wore was too exposed. I am a virgin so when it comes to this kind of thing, I’m naive and innocent and I do not like them. At all.
Max on the other hand seemed to be liking what he was seeing because he sprayed some guys that came to twerk in front of him some money and he whistled and winked at some other guys. I could tell that he was a regular there. Typical max style. Like he wasn’t the one flirting with the barista some minutes ago.
In as much as Max was a big flirt, whenever he was in a relationship, he never cheated or looked elsewhere and I admired him for that unlike some other person. I thought as I remembered my fake husband who didn’t respect me at all.
We finally got in front of a room and Max spoke quietly with the person guarding the door. They exchanged fist bumps and we entered the place. It was really different from the bar and it smelled less of alcohol and cigarettes and I was glad. It was more like an office but with a cosy couch and a colourful interior.
“Jada.” Max said and the person who stood facing the glass window turned to face us.
“Meet Eve, my best friend.” Max introduced pointing at me.
“Eve, that’s Jada.” Max said to me.
Jada walked towards us both and checked me out.
She was dressed in a slutty outfit and it wasn’t until she spoke that I knew she wasn’t a she but a he.
“Hi Eve, I’m Jada.” Her masculine voice resonated through the quiet room.
“Don’t be scared, I’m crossdressing, don’t you know that?” He asked Max for back up.
“Well, Eve isn’t really used to all these things besides the fact that she has a gay best friend, she knows nothing about the community.” Max explained saving me from the scrutinising look that Jada gave.
“Okay, well then, have a seat, let’s talk.” Jada said and we all sat down.
Max and I with Jada opposite us.
“I’m pansexual and I crossdress.” Jada said looking at me because I was still in shock maybe.
“Cool.” I said with a smile and he smiled back. I think he was looking for an irritated or disgusted look on my face but I have a gay friend and I’m a really accepting person so I would never judge anyone based on their sexuality.
“So Max here texted me that you have a cheating husband issue.” Jada said and i gave Max a ‘what the fuck look’.
“I couldn’t tell her your relationship is fake.” Max whispered in my ears and I groaned.
“Well then, let’s get started, get up.” Jada said pointing at me.
“Huh?” I mumbled.
“Get up.” Jada repeated sternly and I felt a shiver run down my spine.
