The door opened and Greta walked in. She was carrying a bag that looked too heavy.
“Good morning, sir”
Solis smile lasted only seconds before he turned to his laptop.
Greta turned to me and that understanding we had was gone. Now all that I saw when she looked at me was hate and disappointment. I turned away from her because I didn’t want to keep staring at those negative emotions. I needed to think.
Christian was in this country and not just that, he was looking for me. I had to leave clues for him to find me, I had to do something. Greta returned from the bathroom.
“Come, let’s wash you up”
Greta said flatly.
I wondered what would happen if I faked being hurt… Solis would definitely take me to the hospital.
But, what if history repeats itself. When Solis takes me to the hospital, Christian comes here.
I walked to the bathroom and Greta followed behind me. She shut the door.
“How do you feel?”
“I don’t feel pain anywhere”
“No, how do you feel now that you’re made him sad”
I laughed bitterly.
“I made him sad? I made him sad?”
“Shushhh!”
“He is my captor, he’s keeping me here against my will like I’m some fucking animal and because I want freedom, I shouldn’t go for it in order to make him happy?”
Greta raised her hand in the air and I held it and pushed her away.
“Don’t even dare, Greta”
We both stared each other down, no one was willing to back away, until I heard water spilling and I had to turn to the direction of the bathtub.
Water was spilling from tub to the floor. Greta rushed towards it and turned the water off. She poured the soaps and oil into the water and beckoned for me to come. I stepped into the tub and allowed her to bath me.
Regardless of our rift, she was gentle on me.
“I hope this marriage makes you understand that he loves you”
I scoffed.
“This marriage is doing the opposite. He doesn’t love me Greta, I know what love is and this isn’t it”
She walked to the bedroom and came back with a large towel.
She didn’t say anything afterwards and I didn’t want her to talk anyway.
“I want to talk with Solis alone, I can dress myself up” I said after a while.
“The boss left”
“Where did he go. I need to speak to him ”
“Why? Are you trying to convince him not to go through with the wedding?”
“It’s been two months Greta. He knows I manipulated him and still he wants me, aren’t you worried about him at all?”
“There is nothing to worry about ”
I walked out of the bathroom and found the wedding dress sprawled on the bed.
“I would have to tell Solis that I can’t let him to do this to me”
Greta picked up the dress and gestured for me to come.
I turned my head to the balcony and when Greta saw what I was looking at, she rushed and jammed the doors shut.
“Jenna are you stupid?” She asked, she was panting wildly and her eyes were wide at the corners.
That was the first time she used my name in a long time.
“Get Solis now! Or nothing would stop me from killing myself, I’ll jump out the window, I’ll hit myself the walls, anything!”
Greta’s eyes went from me to the door and then quickly came back to me as if she couldn’t keep me out of her sight.
“Ruiz!!” She yelled at the top of her voice.
She kept yelling until I heard footsteps running in the hallway. A very shocked Ruiz appeared at the door and looked from my position to Greta as if he was expecting something gruesome.
“She wanted to jump out, off the balcony” Greta explained and Ruiz cracked a slowly snarl.
“Why didn’t you do it, bitch. You would have put an end to this nonsense once and for all”
“Awnn, is that regret I hear? I told you that you’ll regret bringing me here. Now you want me gone?”
“You have a smart mouth you better shut or I’ll __”
“You’ll what, shove your cock down my throat? Isn’t that what you’ve always wanted from me?”
“As I’ll always say, I never hide the fact that I want to ram my cock into you and soon enough I will, I’ll fuck you senseless after this fucking marriage but it doesn’t mean I would hesitate to throw you off this god damned balcony right now”
I was smiling and Ruiz didn’t know why, he couldn’t guess. He was too angry that he didn’t hear the wheels of Solis’s chair in the hallway. Not that the wheels made too much noise, it didn’t. It was just that these past few weeks I’ve been listening to the sound over and over again to the point of insanity and I could recognize it anywhere.
Solis was in the doorway, listening and at Ruiz’s confessions, I knew his blood was boiling.
“Oh god…” Greta cried quietly and did a cross.
Ruiz turned around and when he saw Solis, all the blood was gone from his face.
Solis said something in Spanish and Ruiz swallowed hard. For the first time since I met him, I saw real fear in his eyes.
He turned away and left.
“Leave” he said to Greta.
She shook her head and ran out of the room, if only I know what he had said, maybe I might be scared for Ruiz.
Thankfully, I didn’t know and I didn’t want to know.
“Jumping off the balcony, really? I’m that bad that you need to get away from me even if it means killing you and our children?”
“I don’t want this wedding”
“You don’t have to”
“I’m giving you one last chance to back down”
“Or what?”
“Or you’ll be dead for this. Please, Christian would listen to me if you free me now, he’ll spare you. If he finds us after this wedding, he’ll kill you” I was shedding tears at this point because I knew that Solis would die if he goes through with this.
“Then maybe I’ll find him first ” he said with an icy glare.
