In a jiffy, Diana reported to duty after the crowd was entirely dismissed.
She assembled all the medical officers in the medical ward and reoriented them, she as well, assigned them to their various fields.
She picked two assistant surgeon general and a junior army medical to assist her..
Inside ward 02 of the medical ward were the most injured officers. Some had their legs amputated while some had their hands amputated. There were so many severely shot officers. Some were shot in either of their eyes. Some were gravely cut with knives, swords and axe’s. They were all lucky to have survived. Thank God for the back up they had early.
Inside the main hospital theatre there are several beds, whereupon the injured officers were laying.
General Laura walked into the theatre wearing a Lab coat and carrying her medical bag. Behind her was Assistant surgeon general Sarah and Alice, each carrying a medical bag and wearing a Lab coat just like General Laura. Beside General Laura was a medical army academy student. A young lady in her early 20’s. She had newly been promoted from the academy to do her national service. Diana found her impressive, thus she picked her to join them.
The moment Diana walked into the theatre, the officers inspecting the injured officers all directed their gaze towards her. Looking at her with respect.
At the extreme of large room, a monitor by a bed suddenly started to beep danger, indicating the patient on the bed was gradually losing consciousness and most likely dying.
“Gbam! Gbam! Gbam! Gbam!” The alarms ring intensified with red lights illuminating it’s area..
The patient on the bed started to suffocate and tremble violently. Some attending nurses rushed to steady her. Diana too, quickly headed towards that direction once she discerned this was a serious issue.
When Diana reached there, one of the E. R doctors quoted, “Time of Death 11:29 am!”
Evidently, they were unable to steady or revive her….
With that said, another doctor started to cover up the patient with a piece of white clothing. Other patients nearby were all scared they may face same fate as their collegue just did.
Diana scrutinized the patient that had just died, she noticed there was still some vitality and life force in her.
“Give me her medical report!” She ordered at once.
The next instant, another E. R doctor handed her the patients medical report.
Diana hastily glanced through the report without missing one word, “Remove the cloth, she is not dead yet!” She said once she was done.
She had perfectly understood the patients condition. In the report, she was an attacking combatant and not many women venture into that field, thus, Diana felt she could save her and congratulate her courage. In addition, her medical condition was quite severe, she had very little hopes of surviving as s bullet pierced through her hearts cage.
“She is dead! The dead can not be revived!” The head of the department stated as he approached. He was old and looked like he was in his early 60’s . Aside being an E. R doctor. He was an expert in traditional medicine. He was referred to as the god of medicine in the military base and even beyond.
Diana turned and shot him a professional glare. She then shook her head and said in a low voice, “I need a set of silver needles! And the cloth removed from her!”
Although her voice was gentle and low, there was an authority accompanying it.
One of the E. R Doctor reacted quickly and obediently that he removed the clothe use to cover the dead patient.
“General Laura, I respect you a lot but, i have been practicing medicine since I was fifteen and it’s forty nine years already since I started practicing medicine. I can tell with a mere glance that she has no life force left in her!” The old man stated.
“I’ll say it again that she is not dead. Hand me a set of silver needles!” Diana shouted, she hated being objected by someone else aside her kids…
With a frown, the old white bearded man took a step forward and asked, “What do you need a set of silver needles for?”
“I want to save her!” Diana answered loudly.
“Save her?” The old man looked at Diana with incertitude and dubiousness, wondering if this is indeed the General Laura he has heard a lot of good impressive things about..
He scrutinized General Laura head to toe, she appeared to be barely in her 30’s. Even if she had been practicing medicine since she was in her mother’s womb, there is practically no way she would be able to use silver needles to revive a dead patient.
On top of that, a dead person could never start breathing again. Even with superior and superb medical skills, there was no way of bringing a dead person back to life. The dead remains dead and have nothing in common with the living.
Despite that, General Laura appeared calm and her eyes flickering with confidence. This surprised the old man, he then turned to Assistant surgeon general Alice and instructed, “Go to my office. Check my shelf, you’ll see a set of silver needles! Bring them!
Alice looked puzzled, “But, she is dead alr-”
“Shut up! Obey before complain!” Diana frowned at her objection. “Now, go bring me the silver needles!” She added, shouting at her.
Not daring to object anymore, she rushed away immediately as instructed.
Soon, she arrived with the set of silver needles and handed them over to Diana.
Diana ran her fingers across the silver needles with an inexplicable sense of familiarity and her face was brimming with confidence.
The old man sneered, “What a waste of effort. I have never seen a dead person coming back to life!”
“Are you going to assist me or going to leave me? I don’t want distractions!” Diana demanded.
“Okay, alright! I’ll assist you..” He agreed, Atleast in a short time Diana will realize it’s actually a waste of effort trying to revive the dead. Being in the medical field for many years, the old man felt like some lessons are better learnt the hard way and Diana was about to.
At that point, Alice drew the curtains, retarding other patients effort of seeing what was about to happen inside. Some had begin to cry and whisper among themselves already.
Behind the curtain, Diana, the old man and Diana’s assistant dropped into action.
“Please hold the two pressure points in her legs!” Diana ordered,
The old man was not a novice. He knew perfectly, the pressure points Diana was referring to precisely.
