Derrick was as if struck dumb with astonishment and surprise by the question, “Doesn’t the kid’s know who their father is? I was planning to ask them and then boom! She asks me if I’m their father!”
The three little rascals looked at him with utter keen interest.
Derrick heaved a sigh after another thirty seconds,
“Talk to me. Are you our Daddy?” Chioma repeated her question, this time, her tone was more gentler and covered with too much eagerness, as if something terrible would happen if she doesn’t get the answer she was expecting.
If Derrick’s response betrays the expectations running through their mind, they’d surely be hurt. The kid’s opened their ears widely in anticipation.
“I’m not your Daddy! Besides, I have only just met your mum yesterday and -” Derrick paused when he noticed that the elation on the kid’s face was getting replaced with a disappointing one.
The atmosphere fell sad all of a sudden. Ever since yesterday that they met with the five star general, the kid’s had discussing and speculating among themselves if there were any chances he could be their father due to the fact that the two boys were carbon copy of him.
On hearing his response, they drastically jumped down from their excited state to a dispirited state.
Derrick was a smart and sensitive person and he could sense the change in the atmosphere and most importantly the change on the kid’s facial expressions. They had been excited few seconds ago, not until he answered Chioma’s question and their happiness got replaced with a gloom.
“Was anything unsettling with my response? I only just answered sincerely. How could I have discerned my response would ruin their mood?” Derrick’s entered a train of thoughts at once. However, he only told them the truth. Afterall he can’t lie.
It was quite unbelievable that the kids doesn’t know who their father is. But what’s keeping General Laura from taking them to their father?
“I would have believed we have a resemblance with you due to any possible similar genetic constitution and that we’re virtual twins, but, I highly doubt that now. We have same amber eyes as you. Our resemblance is just too exact to be a coincidence. How???” Jame’s bursted out.
His thoughtfulness impressed Derrick. Aside from being able to crack murder case, these kid’s were exceedingly smart.
“Why not you ask your mum?” Derrick asked, even himself was finding it hard to believe that it was actually a coincidence that the kids were carbon copy of him. But, he had only met their mum yesterday, although he feels he had been with her before; in the past.
Immediately his words fell, Chioma got tempted and released the statement pleadingly, “Mum doesn’t want to take us to our Daddy. Can you persuade her to?”
Without giving it too much thought, Derrick responded, “Yes!”
Right that moment, General Richard walked in, “Sir! Your attention is needed!” He reported.
Derrick then stood up, Chioma’s face turned upward as he stood up, “My Name Is Chioma. We are Friends right???” She extended her hands forward as she asked.
Derrick handshake her small hands, “Yea!” He said, “You’ll need to be going home now….” He added, brushing the two little boys hair. “Talk to you guys some other time!” With that said, he left.
Afterwards, the three little rascals started heading back home.
Meanwhile, at the central field.
Diana had just been introduced to the large audience. She stood on the large podium where every military officers could see her.
She was now wearing her complete uniform and her four star badge glittering on her shoulder, and if care was not taken one would think she was a man due to the way she appeared. She exuded such a powerful aura and military nobility.
The grandwar masters sat in majestic chairs placed to the left of the large podium while the grandwar kings sat on their various royal seats to the right side of the large podium.
Before the large podium that Diana stood was a very large audience, comprising of over ten thousand military officers and medical officers. All officers stood at an attention according to their various ranks.
Even the newly deployed barrack soldiers were all present.
They all wanted to see the incredible four star general. The first woman to ascertain the position of a four star general and same time a surgeon general at the same time.
There was murmuring amidst the crowd but when they heard General Laura’s voice, the murmuring died down and got replaced with a dead pin silence. Such authority!
“We have only few days until our next battle commences! I have gotten reports that our borders are secure, however, Delta City has encountered a major loss since the last battle and that’s why I was deployed here to help y’all to victory”, Diana started orienting, her voice was very loud, the microphone magnified it. She swept her gaze over the multiple crowds before her and continued,
“As the surgeon general and a four star general. I and my team will do all it takes to help the injured officers back on their feet before the next battle! I urge you all to remain calm as victory is near!”
“I, General Laura have spoken!” Diana concluded and a round of applause rang out from the crowd.
At the same time at the classical looking villa at the mountain top of Delta city.
Mrs Charity, Derrick’s mother was pacing back and forth in the living room waiting for Diggle, her most loyal bodyguard to report back to her…
She asked him to find out who the kid’s mother was, since Derrick was evidently not the kid’s father, although the resemblance was there.
A minute into pacing back and forth a tall, muscular black man who was a mercenary walked into the living room, he was no other person than Diggle. He was obviously here to report his lastest findings.
“What have you found out?” Mrs Charity reacted quickly and asked..
“The two little boys are General Laura’s children. They have a sister who is at same age as them. Obviously, they’re triplets…” Diggle reported.
“Triplets? Uhm…. General Laura. I have heard of her, can I see her picture?” Mrs Charity requested.
Diggle dug his hands into his suits breast pocket and brought out a phone, he handed it over to his boss. On the display screen was General Laura’s Picture.
Charity squinted her eyes when she saw her picture. She could inadvertently mark some familiarities with her figure. She looks like Nanny Amelia!
Presently at the president general villa, Anamika and her now healthy mum were at the relaxation room of the five star general mansion.
Anamika was relating how she manipulated Diana to treat her and how she gave her the wrong information.
“That’s my girl!” Eddy gave her daughter a high five. She was happy that her daughter inherited her cunny gene.
Harvey had returned back to the Scott’s mansion, discombobulated and angry at the same time.
He sat on a couch in the massive living room when he heard his subordinate lastest findings, he looked up in shock and he demanded, “What? The triplets are truly hers? Who is she married to? Who father’s the kids?”
“According to our investigation. The kid’s father had never showed up and she has not been seen with any man for over seven years now. So, we’re assuming that she had the children out of wedlock…”
“You’re dismissed!” Harvey waved his hands and dismissed the subordinate. He was finally convincing himself he fathered the kids.
