As they walked in, Derrick was somewhat scared his mum would bring the conversation he is trying to avoid up again, as her steely voice reverberated in his mind.
“You’ll have to find and protect the nanny’s daughter for eternity, starting with marriage. The brave nanny from many years ago, who died protecting you!”
Soon, They arrived in a main hall. And Mrs Charity, the wife of the late Otumba, Derrick’s father walked over to a throne in the centre with a kind of saunter as if she hadn’t a care in the world, While Derrick promptly sat on a seat near by.
Meanwhile, guilt was soaring through Mrs Charity as she thought about the brave nanny who had died after sustaining twenty bullets from some unknown gunmen, who had stormed the Otumba’s resident one fateful day.
They were Otumba’s enemies army. Being a god of war, he had many enemies and on that fateful day, he went out on a patrol with his men and an hour time, some unknown gunmen stormed his residence, killing every security guards as they opened fire.
The brave nanny, who was dutied to protect Derrick died while getting Derrick to safety. Derrick was only seven years old then.
Mrs Charity was only just lamenting about this when Derrick’s voice rang out, in curiosity.
“I have been unable to find her daughter, until now but?”
“But what?” Charity countered, cutting him off.
“Mum, I don’t have to find and marry her daughter. We could always use some other way to repay her mother’s kind selfless deed and make it up to her,” Derrick outlined with a counter, calmly, hoping that his mum would see some sense in it. Little did he know that his mum was very stubborn.
However, the moment Charity heard this, she shot Derick a frosty look and said, “No, her daughter became motherless. Her father ended up giving her to the orphanage and now an adult, she is nowhere to be found. We have to make it up to her starting with you finding her, and marrying her regardless. We have to honour her brave mum’s by taking care of her daughter and it’s your duty to do so. You’d have been dead!” As Charity thought about it, guilt ate her up.
Derrick frowned, He didn’t think any good could from a loveless arranged marriage even if he finds her. But, he couldn’t even reject his mums firm proposal because she was set on repaying the sacrifice the nanny had made all those years ago.
” You can’t even imagine how many bullets Nanny Amelia took just to protect you. The amount of blood….. The gruesome pains… the excruciating pains….” Charity’s eyes were sad as she remembered and explained. Then , she looked up and cast her son a frigid hard look, pointing out, “Taking care of her daughter is the least you could do. You won’t ever be able to repay the nanny’s selfless deed, even if you were to find and take car of her daughter for eternity..”
Derrick nodded quietly, “fine, then I’ll find her and take her for a wife!”
But there was another woman whom he could not let go of, whom he needed to compensate as well. That was no other person than Anamika. With that thought in mind, he had no plans to tell Charity about it just yet. It’s been seven years and he has managed to keep the information from her, and he knew that even if he did tell her, it wouldn’t dissuade her from forcing him to find and marry the nanny’s daughter!”
Derrick had also done a nice job by keeping her mum safe and away from the world. Nobody knew Mrs Charity was his mum!
Derrick could only stare at his mum, stumped as he thought. How do I find her? I have no clue! Just the nanny’s name, Amelia?
Then it hit him, in order to find her daughter. He needs to find the orphanage home her despicable deadbeat father put her in,
Shortly after the nanny’s death, her husband, took their daughter to an orphanage home. He couldn’t tolerate seeing her face which reminded him of his late wife!
“Mum, can I see the nanny’s picture?” Derrick requested,
Soon after he received the photo and took a picture of it, he chatted with his mum a little while and also had tea with her.
In a jiffy, he left after a goodbye hug.
His adjutant general who was waiting for him outside the villa, and was standing before the limousine back seat door quickly opened the door for him as he approached.
But before he entered the car, he turned to the adjutant general and said, “I have another task for you!”
With a nod from him, he continued, “I sent you a picture of a Lady, her name Amelia, Died many years ago. I need you to find the identity of who she was married to and also, her daughter. Whether she is alive or not!”
General Richard only nodded in response.
“Two task. Report back to me in two days time!” Derrick added before entering into the car.
General Richard closed the door and and then went to join the Driver in the front, the driver’s compartment, sitting at the passenger seat.
It was a limousine and there was partition between the driver compartment and the passenger compartment which can be operated mechanically by hand or by a button electronically.
On the face of it, Derrick sat in the passengers compartment alone. His fine chiseled features were bathed with the orange rays of sunlight. His mind was racing with two thoughts, However, his flawless features and handsome face couldn’t be ignored, not even by the author.
He is painstakingly the special artwork of heavens. His handsomeness can’t possibly be replicated. He was handsome and strong all together.
Withal, he was broken inside.
He can’t imagine leaving Anamika alone after having give her hopes for their Marriage to be legal and official, for over seven years now, and on top of that, he needed to compensate her and keep to his words. Anamika only gave him one condition so that she would forgive him for what he did to her….. and it was – Marry Me!” –
Nevertheless, Derrick was relentless. He couldn’t bring himself to really marry Anamika, despite.
His second thoughts was about the nanny’s daughter.
What if she is not beautiful? How can he end up with a total stranger?
Derrick only hoped that he finds her soon and pray that she rejects him. After all, every good lasting relationship needed to be built based on a foundation of mutual emotional interest, otherwise it’d be meaningless and stupid to live together without any love in it.
