The parent never expected that his post would receive more and more likes and shares, eventually gaining significant attention on the platform.
By eight or nine in the evening, the likes had surpassed ten thousand, comments exceeded a thousand, and shares were rapidly increasing.
Many media accounts also began to share and comment on it.
By the time he went to bed at eleven, the likes had reached over a hundred thousand, and comments had surpassed ten thousand.
He was just an ordinary person, running a small family business that made two to three million dollars a year.
Considered a small affluent family, they couldn’t compare to those with assets in the tens or hundreds of millions.
They were middle class.
So their daily life was that of ordinary people, and suddenly being in the spotlight left him bewildered.
After his wife bathed and put the child to sleep, she came over to find him staring dumbfounded at his phone.
“What are you daydreaming about? Did you see something interesting? All you do is watch videos all day. Can’t you do something else?” she grumbled.
Excitedly, he held up his phone to her. “Look! Look at my video!”
“Oh my goodness, you’re on your way to becoming an internet celebrity!” she exclaimed upon seeing the viral video. “What’s going on?”
“You don’t know? I filmed Franklin and his wife, and it went viral!” he said excitedly.
His wife was equally shocked. “Amazing, amazing. But honestly, they really are good people.”
“Yes! I now have fifty thousand followers. I can start live streaming! We can promote our family’s products! Everything from our company!” he grew more enthusiastic as he spoke. “Once my live stream takes off, I want to sponsor children. Only by following Sylvia and Franklin in doing good deeds can we have a future!”
“Honey, I support you.” She quickly got out of bed to find documents in the safe. “Let’s do it now, upload our company’s information to the live streaming platform.”
The couple seized the opportunity without hesitation.
Sylvia and Franklin had no idea that their unintentional actions had benefited a family and several underprivileged children.
Soon it was Friday.
Sylvia had already prepared Alex’s outfit for the evening party. He wore a plaid British-style suit with matching shorts and little leather shoes, a bow tie around his neck.
His short hair and big round eyes made him look incredibly cute.
He looked like a little model straight out of a magazine.
“Alex, later your godmother will introduce you to everyone. If you feel nervous, you can hold my hand,” Sylvia knelt down to meet Alex’s gaze. “We’re hosting a party tonight, and there will be many guests.”
“I understand. I… won’t be afraid,” Alex bit his rosy lower lip. “I definitely won’t be afraid.”
It seemed like he was reassuring both Sylvia and himself.
“It’s okay to be scared because you’re still a child, and this is probably your first party. It’s normal to be nervous,” Sylvia encouraged him. “So don’t push yourself.”
She checked the time. “It’s almost time. Let’s go downstairs.”
Alex nodded his little head and followed Sylvia out of the room.
The Hipps Family had a dedicated banquet hall, decorated almost like a hotel.
The hall was lavishly decorated, with beautiful desserts and drinks on the long European-style table, along with fruit platters and various dishes.
The party was buffet-style, allowing guests to help themselves to whatever they wanted.
When Sylvia arrived with Alex, many guests were already present, elegantly dressed men and women mingling.
Most were relatives and friends close to the Hipps Family, along with some of Mr. Hipps’ and Queena’s old friends.
After all, Queena’s hospitalization was no small matter, but fortunately, Sylvia’s skillful care had helped her recover.
Many brought gifts, some for the elderly lady and others for Alex.
“Oh my, this child looks so blessed and adorable.”
“Indeed, such a clever-looking child.”
“Miss Andrews and Franklin’s godson is truly fortunate!”
Many also congratulated the elderly lady. “You look so well after leaving the hospital.”
“You’ll live to be a hundred!”
“With such a capable granddaughter, you’re truly blessed!”
Everyone exchanged pleasant words while Sylvia stood beside Queena with a smile, occasionally responding.
Today she wore a long light blue gown with a V-neck design that accentuated her figure. A sapphire necklace adorned her fair neck, making her look elegant and noble.
She held Alex’s hand firmly, feeling his sweaty palm.
She couldn’t help but comfort him. “Don’t be nervous; everyone will come over to greet you. Just smile.”
At that moment, Franklin approached from outside. Tall and long-legged, he seemed to cross the vast hall in just a few strides to reach Sylvia and the child.
He bent down and lifted Alex into his arms. “How is it? Is our Alex nervous with so many guests?”
Alex shook his head tightly, his little face tense. “I… I’m not nervous. Not at all.”
But his slightly trembling voice betrayed his true feelings.
So many people!
How could there be so many guests?
He had never seen so many people gathered in one place for a party before.
Franklin’s deep laughter spread from his lips. “It’s okay to be nervous; your godmother and I are here with you.”
“The old lady is really strong! Healthier than the president.”
At that moment, a woman’s voice suddenly rang out from the entrance of the banquet hall.
Hearing that seductive voice, everyone paused.
Lucille entered in a red evening gown, high heels clicking as she walked into the hall. Her calves glowed white under the black strappy heels, causing everyone to gasp!
Her shoulders were partially exposed, long gemstone earrings swayed gently with each step, her high-pinned black hair perfectly complementing her vibrant red dress.
Though she was over forty, her figure remained as youthful as if she were twenty.
This woman seemed born to captivate.
“Lucille, what brings you here?” Queena smiled graciously. “Please come in.”
How could the Hipps Family invite Lucille to such a small gathering?
Her unexpected presence was truly shocking.
“I’m just here to see you,” Lucille said as she glanced at Alex in Franklin’s arms. “And to see this little guy. Oh dear, is Miss Andrews unable to have children? Do you need to adopt?”
She laughed coquettishly, covering her mouth with her hand. “These days, medicine is so advanced. If you can’t conceive naturally, there’s always IVF! You’re still young; what’s there to fear?”
Many speculated privately that either Sylvia or Franklin might have health issues preventing them from having children but dared not speak it aloud.
Lucille wasn’t an ordinary person; she dared to voice it openly.
This was clearly meant to provoke Franklin and Sylvia.
The once lively banquet hall fell silent.
No one dared speak or make a sound.
Queena smiled gently. “Sylvia and Franklin’s matters don’t concern you, Lucille. Young people make their own decisions. Besides, Sylvia is still young, only in her twenties; there’s no rush for children.”
“Is that so?” Lucille scrutinized Sylvia from head to toe. “Miss Andrews is so beautiful, and Franklin is so handsome; their child would surely be adorable.”
Sylvia met Lucille’s gaze fearlessly. Two equally beautiful women faced each other as an oppressive tension filled the air.
Her red lips parted slightly; her voice carried a faint chill. “I agree; our baby will surely be intelligent and charming, at least I won’t raise him into a wastrel. My goal is for him to become a pillar of society-at least… not worse than his father Franklin.”
Everyone knew Marco was a wastrel!
Everyone knew Marco was worthless!
This was clearly mocking Lucille!
Lucille remained unfazed as she looked at Sylvia. “Quick wit means nothing.”
“You started it; I’m just following your lead. In this regard, you’re my senior,” Sylvia replied with a smile.
Her lips were radiant; her eyes clear as she faced Lucille without retreating an inch.
Tension simmered between them like an undercurrent.
Lucille’s gaze held an arrogant disdain as if viewing Sylvia as an insignificant ant.
Yet Sylvia stood firm against her gaze calmly composed.
Madeleine, Monica, you are truly fortunate to have such a daughter!
Looking again at her own useless son and naive daughter,
Lucille seethed with jealousy!
No one dared intervene in their confrontation hastily.
After some time passed,
Lucille finally spoke again: “You do have sharp words, but remember: in life, what matters most, is achieving what we seek.”
She said no more but suddenly reached out to touch Alex’s cheek gently: “Such smooth skin, but Miss Andrews, Franklin, in these troubled times, you must take good care of this child, or else, even your adopted one may be lost.”
