Her tone was so certain that Johnny was momentarily stunned.
“Is she really my daughter…”
“I don’t need you to believe me. Just go get a DNA test,” Caroline said with her eyes slightly lowered. “Since you’re worried I’m trying to deceive you, then go ahead with the test. I was angry not because I felt guilty, but because it was so unfair to our daughter.”
“You should have told me when you were pregnant!”
Waiting until after she was born, who could handle that?
“If I had told you, would you have kept her?”
“But now you’re harming her! By letting her be born into a broken family, you’re being irresponsible to her and to yourself!”
And she put him in a difficult position!
If he never met this child, it might have been easier.
But once he did meet her, he couldn’t ignore this innocent girl.
Johnny had always liked Floyd and Jake and wanted his own child. Now suddenly, he was told he had a one-year-old daughter-what was he supposed to do?
“But I love you, Johnny! If you hadn’t told me back then that you’re against marriage and don’t want children, maybe I would have told you! But I was really afraid you’d force me to abort…”
“Just spend one day with our daughter, okay? That way, if she doesn’t make it.., then we can both move on. I won’t bother you anymore. I’m tired too.”
Johnny gritted his teeth and finally nodded after a long pause.
The tangled fate between him and Caroline could be debated and pursued for right and wrong, but the poor girl… was innocent.
“Let’s go.”
Caroline reached out to steady herself against the wall, walking forward with difficulty.
“Where are you going?”
“A paternity test,” she replied. “If we pay extra for urgency, we can get the test results in as fast as three hours.”
“We’ll do it so I can prove my innocence.”
This wasn’t just about proving whether the child was Johnny’s. It was about proving her years of genuine feelings and waiting.
Johnny watched her struggling back as she walked away.
He stepped forward with his long strides and grabbed her arm. “No need.”
Caroline looked up at him.
“No need for the test. Let’s go back and see the child.”
As for Tilda…
He needed to think carefully about what to do.

Jake’s computer definitely couldn’t be used anymore.
So Ulric brought him a new one.
Jake immediately beamed with joy upon receiving the new toy. “Thanks, Dad! I’ll show off my new computer to my master right away!”
“You might not be able to reach him for a while.”
Ulric could replace Jake’s computer, but B7’s computer-
Well, he didn’t care.
“Huh?”
“If there’s anything you want to learn, just tell me. I’ll teach you.”
Jake raised an eyebrow, somewhat skeptical. “Is Dad more skilled than Master?”
Ulric sighed, “You can try.”
“Then why couldn’t you fix the computer earlier? If Master were here-”
“Why do you think he’s unreachable?”
Jake couldn’t quite understand but felt there was more behind his father’s words.
Ulric stayed with the children until nightfall. Both Floyd and Jake were tired before he got up to leave.
But he didn’t return to the hospital room immediately. Instead, he took a walk outside the hospital.
Ulric wasn’t avoiding seeing Rosalind. He was just… afraid of seeing her.
In one day, all the plans for a beautiful future had collapsed-no one could accept that.
