Tobias stood out conspicuously, and as a former rival in love, Nelson spotted him immediately.
The bodyguards approached. “We just received the news and intended to meet him outside, but he was brought in.”
Nelson remained expressionless. “Let it be.”
On stage, Bridger couldn’t hold on much longer and hastily concluded his speech. In truth, no one cared about what he said; most attendees were there to network with the powerful.
Sienna, getting no response from Nelson, headed backstage to speak with Charlotte again but was stopped.
“Sienna.”
In front of her stood a man with slicked-back hair, in his forties or fifties, with an ingratiating smile.
“Maxwell?” Sienna exclaimed.
It was Ahmad’s biological brother, Maxwell. He had lived abroad for many years and had surprisingly returned for this wedding.
“You seem surprised to see me,” Maxwell said with a smile. “Am I not welcome?”
“Of course you’re. When did you return? Why didn’t you visit us?”
Maxwell had never been very capable and had once tried to meddle in the Ellison family business. Ahmad had sent him abroad years ago, and he hadn’t returned since.
Ahmad didn’t like his brother.
“I was afraid my brother would be angry if he saw me. But today is a good opportunity for me to apologize to him. Can you arrange it?” Maxwell’s oily face was full of anticipation.
“Of course. But he’s not here today; you might have to wait.”
Maxwell squinted. “His daughter has been found, and on her wedding day, he isn’t here? Is he unwell?”
“No,” Sienna quickly replied. “He was delayed by something.”
To be honest, she was also puzzled. Ahmad should have been here happily today, but he wasn’t. It was very strange.
Maxwell seemed to understand and then asked about Maevelyn. “I feel guilty towards my niece and want to apologize to her in person.”
At this, Sienna finally showed her sharpness.
Meanwhile, in the dressing room, someone suddenly broke in through the window, startling Charlotte. She looked at the intruder in disbelief.
“You…”
Jamir jumped down from the window and walked up to Charlotte, lifting her chin. “Miss Ellison, we’ve met before.”
“Jamir!” Charlotte exclaimed, shocked that he had returned to Ylosea. “What are you doing!”
“We’re both smart people. Let’s get straight to the point. Where is Callie?”
Charlotte was forced to look up. She sneered, “Why trouble me, Jamir? I don’t know.”
“If you don’t know, who else in this world would?” Jamir increased his grip. Regan couldn’t find the exact location, so he had come himself.
“Miss Ellison, I’ve managed to send away the bodyguards outside. If you don’t want to miss this wedding, you’d better tell the truth.”
His attitude was firm, and Charlotte’s mind raced for a solution.
“Don’t bother thinking about it. I know almost everything about you,” Jamir shattered her hopes directly.
At that moment, Sienna had shaken off Maxwell and knocked on the door. “Maeve, can I come in?”
“Mo…” Before she could call out to her mother, Jamir covered her mouth and whispered in her ear, “If you don’t speak up now, I’ll tell Sienna that you’re not Maevelyn and that everything you have is stolen from Callie.”
Each word was like a dagger to the heart.
