not responsible for your safety.

Elena’s POV.
“Stop spewing nonsense, you aren’t even fit to leave the ward yet,” Killian spat and I couldn’t help but chuckle dryly.
“Is that what you think? Well, what do I expect from someone who has diligently avoided me for the past few days,”
“Elena, I don’t need you to be stubborn about this,”
“I made the deal with Aragorn, I need to be there too, it will be a lot of advantage,”
“Elena…”
“You can’t stop me from doing this Killian,” I quickly cut him off.
For a moment, he stood still, staring blankly at me without saying a word. I matched his gaze with a more serious one, making sure my determination was evident enough for him to see.
He suddenly drew out a deep sigh and ruffled his hair. “I need you to have it in mind that if you are coming with me, then I’m not responsible for you, I have no concern for your safety,”
His words were like a sharp dagger driven painfully through my chest. His eyes were void of emotions indicating that he meant every bit of his words.
His coldness towards me was driving me insane, but I wasn’t going to let it affect my decision. Somehow I felt like I needed to be there with them while they confronted Aragorn.
“Fine,” I nodded, my jaw clenched tightly as I struggled to hold back my tears. “You don’t have to be responsible for my safety, but that doesn’t change the fact that I am coming with you, I will protect myself the best way that I can,”
I watched as a dry chuckle broke out from his mouth. I could tell that it was a bid to hold back his anger.
“If you say so then I can’t stop you, come with me, we leave in few minutes,” he spat, turning around immediately and started heading out.
I took a last glance around before quickly rushing after him.
Killian didn’t stop for a second to turn around and check if I was truly following along, he continued to take long strides towards the pack’s cell.
I couldn’t help but wonder what sort of conversation he might have had with Darius that had gotten him this furious. Whatever it was, I just really hope he gets over it soon and returns to his usual self, because I don’t know how long I can bear this behavior of his.
Green, the lead warrior was already standing outside the cell house before we got there. I guess he was coming with us.
“Go get him,” Killian instructed him.
He bowed slightly and walked into the cell, few minutes later, he emerged with Darius beside him, my heart broke into different pieces as my gaze landed on him. He was looking like the exact opposite of himself, he looked nothing like the good looking man I knew him to be. His face was all swollen and he had bruises all over his body,
“Elena!” He screamed out, rushing towards me and pulled me into a tight hug. “I’m so sorry Elena, I didn’t mean to stab you, I will never do anything to hurt you,”
We broke the hug and I flashed him a warm smile. “I know you didn’t mean to,”
He pulled me into his arms again, I could feel his body quivering as he held me tight. It was obvious he had been so scared that I might not survive the stab. “I was so scared Elena, I thought I had lost you, I’m so glad to see you so healthily, I wouldn’t have forgiven myself if anything happened to you,”
“I’m mad at you though, you sabotaged the whole plan, it’s all your fault,” I pouted.
“Yes, it’s my fault, I got really selfish and I was blinded by revenge, I’m sorry my mistake almost cost you your life, I’m so sorry,”
“That’s enough reunion for the day, pull it together, we don’t have all day,” Killian’s cold voice ran through my body like a cold shiver.
“I’m doing this because of you Elena, I promise you, we will bring back the children in good health,” Darius said.
“Yes, we will all do that together,” I smiled.
“Uhm… What do you mean?” He raised his brows confusedly at me.
“I’m coming with you,”
“No, that’s not going to happen, this is a lot more dangerous than you think, you’ve tried all you can, it’s our turn to deal the last blow,”
“You can’t talk me out of it Darius, I’ve already made up my mind,” I replied.
“Elena, you can’t…”
“Let her be, her mind is made up already, we have to leave now before the sun comes up, I have no time to waste here,” Killian chipped in.
“So, you are going to let her do this?” Darius fired at him.
“As I said, I have no time to waste here, we are leaving now,” Killian spat.
“I’m not moving an inch if Elena is coming along, I risked her life once, I’m not doing that again,” Darius protested.
“And do you think you have a choice, lover boy?” Killian stepped closer towards him, growling angrily at him.
“Don’t fucking growl at me,” Darius snapped.
Killian was about to strike at him when I quickly moved between them.
“Let’s not make this about me please, this is about the kids, the more we delay, the more uncertain their situation becomes,” I stared from each of them to the other as I spoke, hoping to get some sort of empathy from them.
I slowly turned towards Darius who was boiling furiously in anger. “This is my decision, and it’s final, Killian isn’t in support of it,”
“I’m not going to say this again, fucking move your legs!” Killian was a ball of raging fire at this point.
Right now, I was grateful for tagging along with them, otherwise, only one of them would be back from the journey and it wouldn’t be Aragorn’s doing but theirs.
