Elena’s POV.
I swallowed hard, my head a combination of confusion and chaos.
How could I possibly tell him that I lived with Darius all through the years that I was banished? That I had accepted to be his mate? That I was attracted to him at some point?
But then again, as much as I couldn’t give him the entire details, I was determined to be clear with him as much as I can as well.
“Answer me!” He roared and I recoiled back on the bed in fright.
Tiny droplets of tears were beginning to well up in my eyes knowing that I turned him into this raging monster.
I couldn’t afford to look into his eyes for longer than two seconds afraid that I would get burnt by the flaming blaze emitting from his eyes. His jaw clenched tightly, his body muscles a tensed mess, and his fisted palm quivered uncontrollably, I was afraid the nails of his fingers were beginning to dig into his skin but he seemed to care less.
I could tell that he was trying desperately to get his emotions under control but he was failing at it.
“He took me in, Killian, when I had no place to go, he was kind to me even when he had no idea who I was,” I blurted out.
That wasn’t the answer to his question but saying more than that in the situation that he was in, will cause him more trauma.
“He claiming to be your second chance mate,” he spoke up, his voice laced with coldness and rage.
Darius really left no crumbs. I couldn’t imagine how much Killian must have tortured him to get all the information he needed from him.
I couldn’t help but feel bad for him, Despite everything he’s done, I couldn’t deny that he played a huge role in my life and I would hate it if anything bad happened to him.
And sadly, with the situation of things, I couldn’t guarantee his safety, if Killian could be like this towards his mate, then what becomes of Darius?
“Yes, he is my second chance mate,” I swallowed hard in frustration as the words left my mouth.
He chuckled dryly.
“And has he… Has he ever claimed you as a mate?” His next words were like a dagger piercing through my head.
Where was he getting all these ideas from?
“What? No,” I quickly blurted before he got any more ideas.
“I only accepted to be his mate, believe me, Killian, we only got a little intimate but nothing other than that happened,”
He suddenly snapped his head up to stare at me, his eyes were like a simmering volcano waiting to erupt into a dangerous ball of fire.
Oh no! What have I done? I should have kept that away from him, especially in a fucked up situation like this.
“You got intimate with him?” His voice echoed through the room, and certainly through the entire building as well.
“He touched you?” He took a step back as he spoke. “He touched you the way I do? And you fucking let him do that!”
“No Killian, everything was so complicated, I had no choice, but I know better now, and I know beyond everything that it is you I want, please, you have to believe me, Killian, please,”
He suddenly grabbed a wooden stool near him and tossed it heavily across the room. A terrified scream left my mouth as I watched the raging storm standing right before me in place of Killian.
“I swear to you, Killian, nothing happened, I was just caught up in the moment, I never knew you were going to take me back, Darius was good to me, and when I found out that he was my second chance mate, I thought maybe he was the one,” I cried.
“He fucking touched you,” he roared repeatedly as he continued to toss objects that he laid his hands on across the room.
He didn’t stop to listen to my cries of fright, he was too hurt, too blinded by rage. I couldn’t recognize him anymore.
I recoiled back on the bed as he violently turned the ward into a mess, I flinched at every crash of the objects, crying profusely and hoping for a somewhat magical turn of events.
Seeing things get worse with each passing second, I couldn’t take it anymore.
Biting hard on my lips to pass on strength, I stood from the bed.
Despite the uncontrollable stabs of pain hitting my wounded back, I suppressed it and stood to my feet.
“Killian please don’t do this, you will keep hurting yourself the more if you continue like this,” I pleaded, reaching out to touch him but he quickly took a step back from me, staring blankly at me as though he couldn’t recognize me anymore.
“Don’t you dare touch me, don’t!” He roared.
His gaze on me spoke so much of betrayal, anger, and hatred.
No! I can’t afford to have Killian hate me, this can’t be happening.
“Killian please,” tears flowed freely down my cheeks but that seemed not to bother him anymore.
“Killian listen to me please, I didn’t mean for any of it to happen, Darius rescued me from a bunch of rouge wolves who were trying to kill me that night, he took me in seeing that I had nowhere to go and took care of me, later on I found out about our mate bond, I wouldn’t have accepted it if I knew that I would return back and you would want me again, please forgive me,” I tried to explain the best could.
“You are the one I chose now, over everyone and everything, it’s you, Killian, it’s always going to be you, I love you so much,”
“Lies, how dare you look me in the face and lie to me, all this while Elena, you made me believe you are really back for good, but instead, you were having an affair with your secret lover under my roof!”
“What? No Killian, I would never do that, I promise to explain everything…”
“Save yourself the details,” he cut me off with a wave of his hand in the air.
“You know what? I’m going to slowly brutalize him until he begs for death, after that, I shall decide your faith,” with that, he turned around and started heading out ignoring my pleas.
